- Chapter 22.3 - The Fourth Transmigration (2)
The little “wooden block” evolved directly into a fossil, stuttering and unable to speak.
Noticing her reaction, Shu Mengli giggled. She buried her face in Jiang Weilu’s neck and let out a soft laugh. Her own niece was only about two years younger than Lulu, and that little one was far more rambunctious; whenever they slept together, the girl would insist on burrowing into her arms.
Jiang Weilu was completely different from her niece. She had likely never had this kind of physical contact with anyone, so she was entirely unaccustomed to such intimacy. Or perhaps, because of the gloomy life she had led over the years, she was too afraid of losing things too afraid of being disliked to the point where she didn’t dare to initiate contact herself.
But Shu Mengli wanted to tell her: Don’t be so afraid. People can actually interact like this. Human relationships weren’t all as ice-cold as those in the Jiang family.
Shu Mengli held the little fossil tightly in her arms and smiled. “Has Lulu never slept with anyone else before?”
The little fossil nodded stiffly.
Shu Mengli reached out and ruffled the child’s hair, her eyes filled with affection. “Lulu, you can be close to me.”
Don’t be afraid. I won’t be disgusted by you, and I won’t abandon you.
Sister’s gentle voice seemed to carry a certain magic. It allowed the perpetually anxious Jiang Weilu to stop being so tense and gradually relax. She turned her head to meet her sister’s tender gaze, then took the opportunity to turn onto her side. She slowly nudged herself closer to Shu Mengli, nestling into her embrace, and then boldly reached out to hug her sister around the waist.
“Sister!”
“Mhm, I’m here,” Shu Mengli answered softly.
“Sister!”
“Mhm, mhm.”
“Sister, Sister, Sister!”
Jiang Weilu excitedly hugged Shu Mengli’s waist. The trepidation and tension she felt upon first meeting her sister were completely set aside as she called out to her again and again in her joy.
“It feels just like a dream. I never thought I’d actually get to touch Sister. I’m just so happy!”
Shu Mengli smiled and stroked the child’s head in her arms, pulling her a little closer. “I’m very happy to see Lulu, too. It’s okay we have plenty of time ahead of us.”
With her sister’s pleasant scent swirling around her nose, Jiang Weilu let out a happy giggle. Sister smells so good!
She blushed and nodded her head. “Mhm!”
After a moment, she shyly expressed her heart’s desire: “I want… I want to stay with Sister forever.”
However, after those words left her mouth, there was no response for a long time. Jiang Weilu looked up in surprise and was momentarily stunned.
