It all began in the middle of the night when Shu Mengli got up to get a glass of water. Losing her footing, she stumbled and fell directly into a mirror. From that moment on, every night at midnight, she would transmigrate into the world behind the mirror, staying for a short while before vanishing again.
When they first met: Shu Mengli was trapped within the mirror, unable to escape or leave. That was until a young girl living in a wealthy household but suffering from horrific abuse picked up that very mirror. Seeing how pitiful the girl was, Shu Mengli lent her a helping hand.
She never expected that from that moment on, she would become the girl’s light. Since then, one lived inside the mirror while the other lived outside, the two of them warming each other’s lives as they walked their paths together.
Shu Mengli taught the girl step-by-step how to “slap the faces” of her stepmother and strike back against her scumbag father. Meanwhile, the little girl pretended to be innocent and cute just to make Shu Mengli happy.
However, Shu Mengli did not know that throughout these long years spent together, someone had long since harbored “shameful” desires.
Nine years passed in a flash. The girl of the past had long since climbed to the pinnacle of the pyramid, clutching power firmly in her hands. In public, she wore a mask of obedience; internally, however, she hid dark ambitions and a searing, feverish possessiveness.
She wanted the person inside the mirror wanted her so badly she was going insane. She hated that she missed her and loved her, yet could not touch her. She also hated her own helplessness when the other woman had to leave.
Later, the mirror shattered, and Shu Mengli left completely. The woman who couldn’t have what she desired went mad, searching for her through despair and loneliness for nine years.
Until finally, they were reunited. Shu Mengli found herself cornered at home and kissed until her lips were bruised by the elegant yet overbearing “Little Wolf Dog.” Only then did she realize:
As it turns out, someone has had predatory, wild ambitions for a very long time.
