Transmigrated as the Cannon Fodder Boss of the Disabled Heroine - Chapter 73
Since getting to know Yu Zhiwan, this Omega had done many unexpected things, constantly refreshing Pei Yujiang’s understanding of her.
But as she stared at the marriage certificate in her hands bearing both their names, along with the wedding photo, Pei Yujiang couldn’t quite recall when they had taken that picture.
Had she gotten drunk one day and taken it with Yu Zhiwan as a joke?
She didn’t think she’d ever done something so reckless.
Pei Yujiang turned it over and over, finally spotting something odd, there was a small, inconspicuous logo on the back of the certificate, the kind used for online parody edits, usually by fans photoshopping themselves with celebrities. Who would’ve thought Yu Zhiwan would use it like this? Pei Yujiang couldn’t help but laugh in exasperation.
Still, the fact that her girlfriend had her in mind made her happy. She proactively messaged Yu Zhiwan, asking if she wanted to join her for a livestream.
Yu Zhiwan tidied up and came over.
With Yue Rong having handled the Banana incident and now leading in public opinion, product sales were recovering, and the next new release was steadily gaining traction. Pei Yujiang had been too busy to livestream recently, only managing their public account through text updates. Today, after briefly mentioning Yue Rong’s new product, she started promoting Chen Lulu’s upcoming movie.
The film was set for release during the prime summer season, which boasted several high-quality movies this year. Film enthusiasts were already raving about it, with many admitting they’d bought monthly theater passes, and some even planning to rewatch certain films two or three times over the summer.
Currently, the highest-rated movie was an animated feature. Though animated, it was mature in production, far from childish, and aimed at adults. With its refined art style, solid special effects, and generous budget, the reception had been excellent.
As Pei Yujiang promoted Chen Lulu’s movie, some viewers in the livestream recognized her as the beautiful woman who had attended Chen Lulu’s offline birthday party and been thanked for presenting flowers.
[Wait, I just realized, Yu Zhiwan is the Tower Hero!]
[What Tower Hero?]
[The one who rescued Chen Lulu from the tower! The hero × superstar pairing has me hooked, anyone know if there’s something between them?]
[Analyzing the way Chen Lulu looked at Pei Yujiang that day. I think so, lol.]
With her freshly minted girlfriend right beside her, Pei Yujiang couldn’t let these comments slide. She quickly clarified:
“Chen Lulu and I are just friends. I’m promoting this movie because I’m genuinely interested in the theme, it’s about humanity and ordinary people struggling to survive in an apocalypse, with a focus on pure friendships between women. I found it really intriguing after watching the extended trailer and am looking forward to it.”
“Oh, right,” Pei Yujiang immediately turned to Yu Zhiwan, who was sitting behind her as usual, and pulled her wheelchair forward so the audience could see her. “We came to Xiangcheng for her eye treatment. Zhiwan’s eyes are healed now, but we didn’t mention it earlier because she was still recovering.”
Yu Zhiwan greeted the viewers with a soft, warm smile.
She had always been soft-spoken, leaving most of the talking to Pei Yujiang, occasionally chiming in. Their natural, affectionate chemistry kept the livestream engagement consistently high.
Omega’s almond-shaped eyes were lively and expressive, making many lament how unfortunate it was that she had been blind. Now that they heard Yu Zhiwan had recovered, they were genuinely happy and sent their blessings in droves.
Someone even mentioned in the livestream chat:
[Did you know, streamer? Qing Ningmeng’s account got banned, he’s locked out for a full three months.]
Pei Yujiang: “Why?” Her first thought was that she hadn’t reported him, so his fans couldn’t blame her.
[During one of his PK streams, he blatantly pushed the boundaries to climb the rankings. The mods happened to be cracking down hard, so they nailed him haha, serves him right!]
[He made a new account and is now seriously livestreaming sales, but no one cares. He probably sells a few items a day, and who knows if it’s just friends helping to fake orders.]
Pei Yujiang had no interest in Qing Ningmeng, but she still bluntly said, “Serves him right.” She hadn’t forgotten how that Omega kept pestering her, insisting she join his PK battles.
However, she didn’t stream for long this time. Several times, she wanted to bring up her relationship with Yu Zhiwan, but she felt too embarrassed and didn’t know how to broach the subject.
After the short livestream ended, Pei Yujiang went to the kitchen and grabbed a bottle of red wine, asking Yu Zhiwan if she could handle its alcohol content. She remembered Yu Zhiwan didn’t have a high tolerance but before she could finish, the glass was snatched right out of her hand.
“Such a low percentage? Of course, I can drink it.”
Yu Zhiwan filled two wine glasses to the brim. The ruby-red liquid shimmered, swirling in the transparent glasses with every movement. The Omega’s delicate fingers lifted the glass, and the glimmering reflection of the wine slid past her brows and eyes as she tilted her head back, taking a small sip.
The warm night breeze brushed against the Omega’s cheeks. Pei Yujiangtook a sip, the cool wine sliding down her throat yet somehow igniting a rising heat. She turned to look at Yu Zhiwan, even the way she drank was beautiful, from her slender arms to her fair, graceful swan-like neck, every movement exuding elegance and poise. Her eyes, bathed in moonlight, were clear and luminous.
But the words that came out of her mouth were strange. After barely drinking anything, she tilted her head and casually asked:
“Pei Yujiang, how’s the marriage consideration going?”
Pei Yujiang choked, rubbing her burning ears. “But—”
Before she could finish her objection, Pei Yujiang suddenly felt her vision of the person before her shift. Yu Zhiwan, who had always been gentle and composed in front of her, abruptly stood up, grabbed her collar, her delicate features now sharpened by the frosty moonlight on the balcony:
“Are you really incapable, or is this just an excuse to avoid responsibility?”
At the same time, a long-dormant voice abruptly rang out: “The female lead’s corruption value is rapidly skyrocketing, 98%, 99%…”
Her heart pounded uncontrollably. Caught between tension and helplessness, Pei Yujiang could only close her eyes and kiss her, proving herself through action.
The wine glass in her hand clattered to the floor.
In her dazed state, Pei Yujiang couldn’t shake the feeling that this was all a dream.
Yu Zhiwan’s lips had been firm just moments ago, her expression fierce, Pei Yujiang had never seen her like that before. Nor had she ever seen her like this, legs gradually weakening under her advances, melting into her arms like liquid.
Pei Yujiang’s kiss was urgent, a primal reaction and long-suppressed desires finally erupting at this moment. The latent urge to conquer, ignited by Yu Zhiwan’s repeated provocations, now surfaced completely. The Omega was held tightly in her arms, immobilized by her embrace.
In summer, their clothing was thin, and accidental touches had occurred before. But now, with all that pent-up tenderness pouring out, those unintentional brushes turned deliberate. Half-shy, half-nervous, Pei Yujiang kept her eyes open, watching Yu Zhiwan’s reactions.
Yu Zhiwan, however, had already closed hers.
Though sharp-tongued, she was just as inexperienced as Pei Yujiang. Opening her eyes would have been too embarrassing, but closing them accustomed as she was to years of darkness, only heightened her other senses.
A warm, damp sensation traced her collarbone, then slid downward, cool and deliberate. Familiar touches now burned with unprecedented clarity. Yu Zhiwan felt her entire body aflame, every cell screaming in fervor, yet her legs trembled, unsteady especially since Pei Yujiang had pushed the wheelchair away.
“Don’t be afraid.”
Pei Yujiang’s breath brushed her ear as a slender yet strong arm encircled her waist, pinning her against the cold balcony wall.
With support, Yu Zhiwan steadied herself. The nape of her neck met the unyielding tile, sending waves of chill through her.
In a daze, Pei Yujiang caught that intoxicating Omega pheromone again.
Her teeth itched.
Though she was now a Beta, remnants of her Alpha instincts lingered yet without the fangs to pierce and mark an Omega’s gland, or the stored pheromones to claim.
She could sense the Omega instinctively seeking her scent, but in the evening breeze, only traces of her usual white tea perfume lingered. Their long hair tangled as the wind swept through, but Pei Yujiang paid no mind, letting Yu Zhiwan’s delicate fingers comb through the strands, wiping the sweat from her temples, tucking the loose locks behind her ear with tender care.
Later, Yu Zhiwan covered her eyes, letting her experience blindness. In the dark, every other sense sharpened. The air thickened with the scent of red wine, and cold liquid splashed over her, trickling down her hair and collarbone.
Pei Yujiang’s voice dripped with honeyed sweetness as she softly asked how she felt, but Yu Zhiwan, neck arched, could no longer speak.
She tilted her head back against the balcony’s gauzy curtains, gazing at the starry sky outside. The stars swayed on the hazy backdrop, the moonlight trembling as it filtered through.
More than once during this time, Pei Yujiang had realized just how much she adored Yu Zhiwan.
Her affection was fleeting yet constant, carefully guarded, unnoticed, so she savored it in quiet moments.
But like a squirrel hiding a pinecone in winter, only to have someone uncover it and offer an entire room full of more, Yu Zhiwan had unearthed and multiplied what she’d kept secret.
Joy shattered her caution, making her grow bolder with each passing moment. The omega’s rose-like fragrance curled around her heartstrings like a tender embrace. Unable to reciprocate with pheromones of her own, Pei Yujiang could only nibble at her partner’s scent gland in quiet longing, savoring the rich aroma while holding her tightly in a more reassuring response.
Outside, the wind grew fiercer, making the curtains flutter wildly against their shoulders. Only then did Pei Yujiang realize the creeping chill.
Rain began to fall, a torrential summer downpour that gushed like flowing water, soaking her fingers.
