- Chapter 11 - The Tycoon with a Mental Illness (11)
Xie Lin squatted in front of Lin Junqing and licked the corner of his mouth. “I think we can.”
Lin Junqing, fearing that Xie Lin would act recklessly, quickly turned on the light and shouted, “I think we cannot.”
Xie Lin retrieved the fruit knife from the nightstand, placed it in front of Lin Junqing, and said, “The nights I cannot touch you are too hard to bear. I might as well be dead.” Xie Lin pressed the knife into Lin Junqing’s hand and turned off the light.
Even as he was being pinned down, Lin Junqing was still in shock. Hiss, this bastard Xie Lin is getting even crazier.
The next evening, Xie Lin came back for more. Lin Junqing’s face went pale with rage, and he roared, “Didn’t you say that was the last time?”
Xie Lin blinked innocently. “That was the last time for yesterday.”
Seeing Xie Lin reaching for the fruit knife again, Lin Junqing could take no more. He grabbed his pillow and threw it at Xie Lin, taking the opportunity to kick him several times.
The system was also speechless. “A Child of Destiny with a sunshine value of -100 is truly insane. Host, what do you plan to do?”
Lin Junqing wanted to beat him up, but he could not win against Xie Lin, so he forced himself to stay calm. “What else can I do? I have to take it one step at a time.”
Xie Lin had gone mad, and reasoning with him was impossible. Was this bastard planning to use this tactic to entangle himself with him for a lifetime? Xie Lin seemed to think that it did not matter if the move was not fresh, as long as it worked.
When Lin Junqing’s hand healed, Xie Lin’s helicopter arrived. As they boarded, Xie Lin held onto Lin Junqing’s hand. “Let’s go home first. You will continue to be my personal assistant.”
Lin Junqing remained silent; he wanted to resign. Seeing his silence, Xie Lin skillfully pulled out the fruit knife.
Lin Junqing’s pupils constricted at the sight, and he roared, “Can you have some shame? Stop using this trick to pressure me every time.”
Xie Lin looked at him earnestly. “I do not want shame; I only want you.”
Lin Junqing wiped his face in exasperation and turned to look out the window. “Forget it. I will not argue with a madman.”
Xie Lin agreed wholeheartedly. “True, I am a madman, so you have to humor me. Tonight, I want to try a different position.”
Before Xie Lin could finish, Lin Junqing slapped the back of his head and threatened through gritted teeth, “If you dare to talk nonsense or make outrageous requests again, I will perish together with you. Let us die together; let us all just end it.”
Seeing Lin Junqing fuming, Xie Lin apologized sincerely, “I was wrong. The position from last night was quite good.”
Lin Junqing could not endure it anymore and kicked him. Xie Lin was fine, but Lin Junqing’s ankle hurt terribly. On the plane, Xie Lin used medicinal wine to massage Lin Junqing’s ankle, talking down to him with great satisfaction.
“Why on earth did you kick me? Look at this now; you have sprained your ankle and cannot walk.”
Lin Junqing did not bother looking at him. He swore that the bastard was clearly gloating and secretly hoped his foot would be injured so he could not walk.
After the plane landed, Xie Lin ignored Lin Junqing’s protests and scooped him up in his arms. Lin Junqing struggled, but Xie Lin expertly produced the fruit knife and held it in his arms. Seeing the knife, Lin Junqing nearly collapsed. “Can you try a new trick? Do not threaten me with a knife every time.”
Xie Lin felt immensely proud and pleased. He lowered his head and kissed Lin Junqing’s forehead. “I will not change it. You were the one who threatened me first; I am just learning from you.”
Lin Junqing ground his teeth. As soon as they got back, he would throw Xie Lin’s fruit knife away.
When they got off the plane, Lin Junqing pulled Xie Lin’s coat over his face. The airport was bustling with people; if someone he knew saw him, he did not want to die of social embarrassment. Lin Junqing asked the system to help him plan an escape route, but the system was worried.
“Host, Xie Lin’s darkening value is already -100. If he goes insane after you leave and does something to retaliate against society, what should we do? If the Child of Destiny disrupts the social order because of you, the Heavenly Way will erase us.”
Lin Junqing fell into deep thought. Xie Lin was highly capable, and most importantly, he knew Xie Lin owned several research institutes for viruses and bacteria. If Xie Lin wanted to disrupt order, it would not be difficult.
The system continued, “Xie Lin is too insane. Why do you not stay for a while longer, then decide whether to leave or not?”
Two voices appeared in Lin Junqing’s mind: one saying Xie Lin could not possibly be mad enough to destroy the world, and another telling him not to use common logic to guess a madman’s thinking and not to gamble. The two voices argued, leaving Lin Junqing with a headache.
However, he could not stay by Xie Lin’s side forever. He did not like men; every time Xie Lin was intimate with him, he felt incredibly uncomfortable. Lin Junqing did not know how much longer he could endure it, but it certainly would not be a lifetime.
As soon as they returned to the villa, the three stray cats Lin Junqing had adopted trotted over. They were well-cared for by the housekeeper, all chubby and adorable. Xie Lin set Lin Junqing on the sofa, and without even glancing at Xie Lin, Lin Junqing bent down to pick up one of the cats.
Xie Lin was incredibly jealous. “In your eyes, I am probably not as likable as this cat.”
Lin Junqing rolled his eyes. “You are stating the obvious.” Xie Lin had some nerve comparing himself to a cute kitten.
Xie Lin narrowed his eyes at the three cats, walked outside, and said to the housekeeper, “After Junqing rests, take those cats to the villa next door to be cared for.” The housekeeper wanted to laugh but dared not; his young master was jealous of the kittens.
When Lin Junqing woke up and found his cats missing, he found the man reading a magazine nearby. “Where did you hide my cats?”
Xie Lin closed the magazine slowly. “They were too noisy, so I sent them away.”
Lin Junqing frowned tightly. Had Xie Lin sent them away, or had he abandoned them? Lin Junqing turned and limped toward the door; he had to check outside the complex. It was deep winter, and the cats had never hunted for food. If Xie Lin had just thrown them out, they would not survive.
Seeing Lin Junqing leaving, Xie Lin looked incredulous. “I just sent the cats away, and you want to run away from home?”
Seeing the impending argument, the housekeeper quickly intervened, “Master Junqing, the young master was afraid the cats would disturb your rest, so he sent them to the villa next door to be taken care of.”
Knowing the cats had not been abandoned, Lin Junqing stopped. Xie Lin pursed his lips, walked over to Lin Junqing, and scooped him up into his arms. “Your foot is still injured; do not walk around.”
Forget it, he should have known. A stray cat was more important to Lin Junqing than he was.
When Lin Junqing’s foot healed, Xie Lin still did not go to work. A new gardening manager had been hired for the villa, a warm-hearted middle-aged woman. One morning, Lin Junqing saw the manager helping in the kitchen with the milk. During the meal, the system suddenly spoke up.
“Host, the new gardening manager is problematic; she is the mother of the person who jumped off the building.”
Lin Junqing looked up and saw Xie Lin had already drunk half the milk. He rushed forward to grab the other half, exclaiming, “The new manager is the mother of the person who jumped! The milk Xie Lin just drank must be poisoned.”
Lin Junqing asked the system in a heavy voice, “Why are you telling me only now? The milk Xie Lin drank is definitely problematic.”
The system replied, feeling aggrieved, “I am just an auxiliary system; if you do not give me an order, I will not scan automatically. I just happened to find this online during my spare time.” Once the system accessed the network, it held no secrets, allowing it to discover the manager’s disguise.
Xie Lin frowned after the milk was snatched away, and the housekeeper’s expression changed drastically, immediately ordering the manager to be detained. A moment later, Xie Lin and Lin Junqing heard the gardening manager laughing hysterically.
“It was you, Xie Lin, who killed my son! You had so much money, why did you have to compete with him for the project? If you had not competed with him, he would not have died. Now, with the Chairman of the Xie Group accompanying him, my son will not be lonely on the road to the afterlife.”
Lin Junqing was panicked, as this was his first encounter with such a thing. He rushed to Xie Lin’s side. “Where do you feel uncomfortable? That milk was poisoned; hurry up and induce vomiting. Why are you just standing there?”
Xie Lin felt cold all over and glanced at Lin Junqing. He was not afraid of death, only that the world without Lin Junqing would be meaningless. The housekeeper called for a family doctor, and Lin Junqing assisted Xie Lin in inducing vomiting. After Xie Lin vomited, the doctor arrived, provided emergency treatment for poisoning, and took the milk for testing.
Nevertheless, half an hour later, Xie Lin began coughing up blood. Lin Junqing stood by the bed, watching Xie Lin’s face turn increasingly pale, and asked the system in a panic, “Xie Lin is the Child of Destiny of this world; why is he being poisoned?”
System: “Host, that is a strange question. Xie Lin became the Child of Destiny because his soul is powerful. Apart from that identity, he is just an ordinary person. You are also responsible for Xie Lin’s poisoning; it was you who complained that the garden looked bad, which is why Xie Lin hired a new manager.”
Lin Junqing felt even more conflicted. So, he had indirectly harmed Xie Lin. After coughing up blood, Xie Lin felt his body relax slightly and offered a weak smile to Lin Junqing.
“After I am gone, can you not marry? Can you not forget me? Please remember me forever.”
The test results were not out yet, and Xie Lin did not know if he would survive. He could feel his body deteriorating; he might fall asleep and never wake up. Xie Lin dared not close his eyes, even though he was exhausted and in pain. He was selfish; even if he were dying, he wanted Lin Junqing to remember him.
Lin Junqing hesitated for a moment, then reached out and held Xie Lin’s hand. “The doctor has not come yet; do not be so negative. I promised you I would not marry, and I will keep my word. I will not forget you either.”
A Child of Destiny this insane was his first mission target; it would be harder to forget him than not. Lin Junqing’s feelings for Xie Lin were complex, and he felt immensely guilty. If he had not complained about the garden, Xie Lin would not have been poisoned.
Xie Lin gripped Lin Junqing’s hand tightly; regardless of whether Lin Junqing meant it, he was happy. The test results revealed Xie Lin had ingested several chemical toxins. The doctor stated that, based on current medical technology, Xie Lin had at most three years to live and that the toxins had already caused his internal organs to begin failing. Current medicine could not cure organ failure, only delay it.
The poisoner was convicted of intentional homicide, but Lin Junqing did not follow the follow-up. Seeing Lin Junqing look sorrowful, Xie Lin asked helplessly, “Now that I am a cripple, will you still stay by my side?”
Fearful that Lin Junqing might leave him, Xie Lin excitedly added, “As long as you endure these three years, I will give you all my assets.”
Three years was enough time for him to plan. He would make sure they were together forever. If he could be with Lin Junqing forever, what difference did it make whether he died in three years or three days?
