“That’s enough.”
Seeing Wen Yan was about to continue her performance, Gu Lin promptly interrupted.
It was more than sufficient.
Wen Xiu hurried over, handing his sister a wet tissue and thoughtfully unscrewing a bottle cap so she could drink some water to soothe her throat.
Oh no, his heart ached terribly.
In his memory, his sister had always been a strong person who never cried like this before. Watching from the side, Wen Xiu couldn’t help but feel his eyes grow hot and nose turn sour.
“Sister?”
Wen Yan neither accepted the water nor responded to her brother’s call. She remained immersed in her character, her soul wrapped in pain and despair like a drowning person sinking into an abyss her vision dark, the sounds around her distant as if from another world.
Gu Lin’s heart sank, sensing something was wrong. She stepped forward and half-knelt before Wen Yan.
“Are you okay?”
There was no response, only the same heart-wrenching, bone-deep sobbing.
If this continued, forget about her mental state her throat wouldn’t be able to take it.
“Wen Yan!”
Gu Lin called out sharply, her brows tightly furrowed. She found herself gripped by an unprecedented anxiety, momentarily flustered.
Almost instinctively, she relaxed her expression, adjusted her emotions, and slipped into Qi Yan’s character, coldly calling out:
“Yi Feng.”
Wen Yan looked up, her face streaked with tears like rain-soaked pear blossoms.
It was Qi Yan, Qi Yan had come back for her.
With mixed sorrow and joy, she pushed herself up and threw herself into Qi Yan’s embrace, burying her face in the crook of the other’s shoulder, her tears quickly soaking through the clothing.
Yi Feng loved Qi Yan. Despite knowing it was wrong, she couldn’t guard her heart and fell for this pitiful prince of a fallen kingdom.
Yi Feng hated Qi Yan. Hated that his heart was always set on restoring his nation and seeking revenge. Hated that he caused the death of their child.
Hated him for abandoning her so easily.
That hatred surged like turbulent waves within her. With reddened eyes, Wen Yan fiercely bit down on Qi Yan’s shoulder and neck, showing no mercy.
The skin beneath her lips was smooth and tender, and the bite quickly drew blood.
The taste of blood spread in Wen Yan’s mouth.
She couldn’t hold back her tears again.
Gu Lin stiffened, unsure where to place her hands, leaving them awkwardly suspended mid-air. This was the first time the Fifth Miss Gu had ever been treated this way by an omega. Her simple CPU couldn’t process such a complex situation, and her brain simply shut down.
Qin Xia’s mouth hung open wide enough to fit a goose egg, her phone’s recording function never pausing.
What a steamy scene of throwing oneself into someone’s arms!!!
Qin Xia screamed internally like a groundhog.
Why did these two look so intensely passionate together?!
The sexual tension was off the charts!
It felt like they might fall onto a bed and do this and that any second!
The movie queen’s taste was truly impeccable, a perfect match for their Fifth Miss!
Nearby, Wen Xiu was also stunned, unsure whether to step forward and pull his sister back or retreat to avoid disturbing them, caught in a dilemma.
It was only when Qin Xia waved him over to watch the show that the young omega finally made a decision.
Wen Yan, having cried too hard, felt drained. It took a long time for her scattered consciousness to gradually reassemble and understand what had happened.
She had lost control of the intensity, pouring her entire being into the role until she became too deeply immersed, unable to break character immediately.
Throwing herself into a stranger’s arms wasn’t a big deal. Judging by the other’s rigid reaction and the fact that they didn’t take advantage of the situation, she could tell this alpha was a respectable person.
The main issue was still.
Wen Yan’s face was dark, her expression pained.
She had bitten the director until she bled.
Wen Yan left Gu Lin’s embrace, her body soft and weak, lacking strength. Not in a hurry to stand up, she knelt sideways instead.
She lifted her gaze, her peach blossom eyes still red from crying unusually captivating.
“Sorry, Director Lin, I didn’t mean to.”
Her voice was low and hoarse, carrying an indescribable sensuality.
Gu Lin remained in a half-kneeling position, her hands withdrawn and resting at her sides, her slender fingers trembling slightly.
“It’s alright, I understand.”
Her gaze was unfamiliar and distant, suddenly veiled by a thin mist, like a Jiangnan April day hazy and indistinct.
“Are you okay?”She stood up, her elevated gaze creating an even greater sense of distance between them.”
Wen Yan: “I’m fine.”
Apart from her head feeling a bit dizzy, as if her brain was oxygen-deprived.
Gu Lin nodded, placing her hands behind her back, restraining the urge to reach out and help her up.
“You passed the audition.”
“But as a director, I still advise against using such an all-consuming acting method.”
She glanced meaningfully at Wen Xiu nearby.
“It worries those around you.”
Not far away, her silly younger brother was looking over with concern. Wen Yan pursed her lips into a smile and waved him over.
Wen Xiu came trotting over eagerly, holding a bottle of water.
“Sis, sis, are you okay?”
“I was so worried about you.”
Wen Yan took a large gulp of water to moisten her dry throat and whispered, “I’m fine, it was all acting.”
Then, as if remembering something, her eyes curved into smiles. “How was your sister’s acting?”
Wen Xiu quickly nodded, full of admiration and respect. “Sis, you were amazing. I even cried.”
Really?
Wen Yan felt a bit regretful that she hadn’t seen her silly brother sobbing and tearing up.
She pushed herself up, tidying her slightly disheveled long hair, then bent over to brush the dust off her clothes.
Gu Lin waited patiently nearby. Seeing that Wen Yan had finished straightening herself, she said,
“Let’s get in the car. I’ll take you back.”
Wen Yan had no reason to refuse; she was already exhausted.
Qin Xia drove steadily. Under the hazy night, drowsiness began to set in.
She shouldn’t have let her guard down after all, the two people in front were still strangers she had just met. But her eyelids grew heavier, the strength in her fingertips gradually faded, and her entire body felt limp.
Gu Lin sat in the passenger seat, glancing in the rearview mirror. Wen Yan was leaning on her brother’s shoulder.
Wen Xiu sat upright, his eyes bright.
“Miss Wen.”
Gu Lin spoke up, “Regarding accommodation, do you have any preferences?”
Wen Yan opened her eyes slightly, a flicker of annoyance crossing her mind. She had almost fallen asleep just now, how careless!
Luckily, Director Lin had asked.
“I’m not used to sharing a room with others, and my brother is an underage omega who also serves as my assistant.”
“If possible, I’d prefer two separate rooms.”
The fifth young lady didn’t object, which meant she agreed.
Qin Xia smiled and said, “Of course, Miss Wen. I’ll take care of that for you.”
The cast and crew of “Rivalry” were collectively staying on the sixth floor of the Four Seasons Hotel where Wen Yan was lodged. Qin Xia arranged two separate single rooms for Wen Yan and Wen Xiu and kindly informed them of Director Lin’s room number.
Exhausted, Wen Yan quickly washed up and went to bed after dealing with Qin Xia.
Gu Lin, however, felt no drowsiness.
She stepped into the bathroom, stood before the mirror, and slowly undressed, piling her clothes on the sink.
The alpha in the reflection was elegant and pristine, her skin fair as snow, making the faint crimson mark on her neck all the more conspicuous.
It looked like the mark left on an omega both restrained and sensual.
The wound had already scabbed over, but the teeth marks remained visible, a testament to how fiercely Wen Yan had bitten down.
After seeing off the siblings, Qin Xia had asked if it hurt and whether she needed to buy some ointment.
Gu Lin shook her head, saying it wasn’t necessary to trouble herself.
Did it hurt?
The wound itself didn’t, but…
Gu Lin pressed a hand to her chest. At that moment, there had been a faint, sharp ache in that spot. She had noticed it, clear as day.
She just didn’t understand why.
Lying flat on her bed, Gu Lin found her thoughts involuntarily drifting to Wen Yan.
The omega was delicate and soft, and the sensation of her lips pressing against her skin lingered, a memory her body still savored.
The sharp sting of teeth, followed by the lingering caress of a tongue.
Faintly, there had been a subtle scent of peach blossoms.
Cool and not overly sweet, yet utterly captivating.
Just like Wen Yan herself.
It suddenly dawned on Gu Lin that had been Wen Yan’s pheromones.
A flush crept silently across her cheeks. The emotion, a delayed sense of embarrassment, flickered to life like a tiny spark before igniting into a wildfire, scorching the Fifth Miss Gu until she was flushed from head to toe.
Even her ears were not spared.
Afraid the light might witness her state, she pulled the covers over her head.
Hiding in a futile act of self-deception.
