In his previous life, the State Preceptor Gu Chengyan assisted a prince living in the cold palace to ascend the throne, only to be suspected, framed, and imprisoned in that very cold palace, where he was tortured to death. Reborn to the year of his betrayal, Gu Chengyan chose to escape by accepting a marriage proposal from the old Wolf Lord of the northern grasslands.
On the journey to the marriage, he intentionally stopped taking his medicine, appearing haggard and frail. This led the old Wolf Lord to feel deeply disappointed, resulting in Gu Chengyan being “exiled” to the far north. Looking at the clear sky, white clouds, green grass, and herds of cattle and sheep, Gu Chengyan finally happily settled into a life of lying flat and doing nothing, hugging soft, fluffy sheep.
A few years later, a snowstorm unexpectedly dropped a boy raised by a wolf pack into his life. The boy had bright eyes and sharp fangs; he was covered in blood and scars. The moment they met, he bit Gu Chengyan, killed his chickens, and even ate the big white sheep that kept him warm. Looking at the boy’s handsome face and solid physique, Gu Chengyan could not bring himself to leave him in the snow mountains. He brought him home, treated his wounds, shared his food, and taught him to read, write, cook, dress, ride, shoot, hunt, and strategize in war.
Three years later, during a mountain avalanche, the little wolf cub disappeared into the vast snowy wilderness to protect him. Another year passed, and the old Wolf Lord died of illness. As his sons fought to the death for the throne, they suddenly remembered: the old Wolf Lord had a young son “exiled” to the far north. According to prairie custom, the new King inherits the wives and territories of the old King.
As the only “wife” of the old Wolf Lord still alive, Gu Chengyan was invited back, only to unexpectedly see the little wolf cub he hadn’t seen for a year sitting on the throne, staring at him with a scrutinizing gaze. That night, the fierce little wolf cub bit him again, crying as he did so. He was so fierce at night, but in the early morning, he secretly massaged Gu Chengyan’s legs and kissed him cautiously.
The new Wolf Lord, Saihechena, was born to the lowliest female slave. Were it not for the wolf pack of the Holy Mountain, he would have frozen to death in the snow just like his mother. He hated humans, hated everything about the old Wolf Lord, and hated their scent: cunning, fickle, and self-righteous.
Among all the people he had met, there was once one who smelled good someone he liked. He smelled like grass, like his mother, and like the holy snow of the prairie. But that person was quite foolish; he didn’t understand the food Saihechena shared, didn’t understand his courtship, and even less did he understand the danger of the avalanche.
When Saihechena finally clawed his way out of the snow, he was forcibly taken away to inherit the territory. Every day after being forced to ascend the throne, Saihechena missed him. He wanted to lick him from head to toe, leave his marks on him, and stain him with his own scent. But upon meeting again, he realized that this person had suffered so much injustice in places he never knew. Saihechena hated power struggles, but this time, he would stay and become the true Wolf Lord, never letting anyone bully him again.
Later, conflict arose once more in the Central Plains dynasty. The new Emperor came alone, kneeling at Gu Chengyan’s feet, begging him to return to the capital. Gu Chengyan simply laughed, hugged the murderous little wolf cub, and kissed him: “I’m not leaving. This is my home.”
