- The Junior Sister Isn't Flirtatious At All; It's All Their Fault for Being Too Seductive
- Chapter 58 - Do You Care About Me?
Li Changting watched their interaction, unable to suppress the bitterness in his heart.
“Junior Sister, I’m going to refine some pills. The spiritual energy in the Demon Realm is dense; perhaps I can finally break through the Golden Core stage and reach Nascent Soul.” He decided to leave the two of them alone.
Jiang Luoyue noticed his downcast mood. “Senior Brother, what’s wrong? You look a bit pale.”
“I’m fine, perhaps just tired.” Li Changting forced a smile and departed.
Jiang Luoxing immediately tugged at Jiang Luoyue’s hand, unwilling to let her gaze linger on “irrelevant” people for a second longer.
“What is it now?” she asked, amused.
“Sister, stay with me today.” Like a clingy kitten, Jiang Luoxing wound himself around his owner. “I’ve been practicing hard these past few days. I feel like I’m on the verge of a breakthrough. Can Sister give me one last push?” He pressed her palm against his cheek, nuzzling into it pleadingly.
Jiang Luoyue chuckled. “Fine. It’s about time your cultivation saw some real progress.”
Deep into the night.
Jiang Luoxing held Jiang Luoyue close, whispering her name between kisses. “Sister…”
He wanted to take full advantage of Yue Wenqiu’s absence to cultivate with her and eventually surpass him. Jiang Luoyue let out a soft moan as he grew increasingly possessive, his hands roaming over her.
Outside, Lin Xi had intended to find Jiang Luoyue to lower his pride and ask if she’d reconsider being his companion. Instead, he realized she was currently engaged in Dual Cultivation.
“Wicked woman,” Lin Xi cursed under his breath.
His fox tribe practiced lifelong monogamy; a fox who betrayed their lover would be shunned. Yet this Jiang Luoyue—who had touched him and kissed him earlier—was now refusing to commit to him while being intimate with another man right in his own home.
He felt an inexplicable surge of grievance. Before his parents died, he was the Young Master who could have anything he wanted. His uncle’s betrayal was the only setback he’d ever known.
When the passion subsided, Jiang Luoyue handed a Spirit-Gathering Pill to Jiang Luoxing. “Take this. You might break through tonight.”
Her own dantian felt warm and full, and she knew he felt the same. Luoxing obediently swallowed the pill and began to meditate. Seeing him deep in focus, Jiang Luoyue grew bored and decided to step out into the courtyard for some air.
There, she found Lin Xi sitting alone. He looked up as she approached. “You finally came out?”
His eyes were full of resentment. Jiang Luoyue didn’t know how long he’d been waiting, but realizing he had likely heard everything happening inside made her blush.
“How long have you been here?” she coughed.
“Do you even care?” Lin Xi gritted his teeth, his ears drooping piteously.
Jiang Luoyue couldn’t help but smile. “Since I can’t sleep anyway, how about I groom your fur?”
Lin Xi huffed and turned his head, acting reluctant. But if he were truly unwilling, he would have bolted long ago. Jiang Luoyue pulled out an array of tools from her storage: a cat-paw-shaped brush and a small rubber duck that squeaked.
“Which one do you like?” She’d already figured out this fox was a classic tsundere—he wanted the attention but his noble upbringing made him pretend otherwise.
Realizing his face was getting hot, Lin Xi quickly shifted into his fox form to hide his blush. He jumped onto the stone table and pointed his paw at the cat-paw brush.
Jiang Luoyue laughed, scooped him into her lap, and began brushing. She did his back, his belly, and his massive, fluffy tail. Lin Xi’s eyes squinted shut in bliss.
“Still mad at me?” she asked, squeaking the rubber duck. He glared at her, but she noticed his ears flicked every time the duck squeaked. So cute! She leaned down and kissed his ear.
Lin Xi noticed a scent on her—a sweet, lingering fragrance that followed Dual Cultivation. “Jiang Luoyue, do you really not want to…”
BOOM!
His proposal was cut short by a massive crack of thunder. Dark clouds gathered instantly, and white lightning flashed menacingly.
“Luoxing is breaking through!” Jiang Luoyue stood up abruptly, making sure to keep a grip on the fox in her lap.
“The clouds look unusually powerful,” Lin Xi noted. Even his own breakthrough hadn’t looked this fierce.
Suddenly, two bolts of lightning struck simultaneously.
“Hey! This is my house! Get out here if you’re going to get hit!” Lin Xi’s fur stood on end as he yelled toward the room.
Wait—why were there two bolts?
Li Changting suddenly scrambled out of the adjacent room, his robes already singed. He scrambled toward Jiang Luoxing, throwing out defensive artifacts. “Me too! I’m breaking through too!”
“What are you doing?! Get away from me!” Jiang Luoxing’s eyes went wide. He was already struggling with his own tribulation; did Li Changting want him to tank both?
“I’m an Alchemist… I’m not as tough as you!” Li Changting shouted, showing off his artifacts. “These are top-tier, don’t worry!”
Seeing the worry in her eyes, Jiang Luoxing had no choice but to coordinate with Li Changting to survive the storm. As bolt after bolt rained down, their clothes were shredded. Jiang Luoyue moved to help, but Lin Xi grabbed her sleeve.
“Don’t. They can handle it,” Lin Xi said with a touch of jealousy. “If they can’t survive this, why do you even want them? They’re just weaklings.”
Jiang Luoyue ignored his attitude, focusing only on their safety. The final bolt gathered overhead, humming with terrifying power. Li Changting braced himself, knowing his artifacts would likely shatter.
Just as the final strike was about to fall, a dark shadow flashed through the air, intercepting the brunt of the damage for them.
