The Black Lotus Omega Always Wraps His Tail Around Me - Chapter 47
Ji Yanwan behaved with complete politeness.
She had run into Zhao Mumu at the entrance. Their relationship could only be described as awkward.
Ji Yanwan had been feeling grateful ever since Zhao Mumu saved her that day. But she didn’t want to make Fu Suihe upset, so she never got the chance to properly thank her.
They had once agreed to meet for a meal, but even that turned into more of a mission. In the end, it ended on a sour note.
All of these emotions piled up inside Ji Yanwan, making her feel increasingly guilty.
So when Zhao Mumu tripped on the hem of her dress, Ji Yanwan instinctively reached out to catch her before her mind even had time to react.
The woman in her arms blushed slightly. She quickly stepped away and whispered a soft thank you.
Ji Yanwan gave her a polite nod and reminded her gently, “Your dress seems a little difficult to walk in. Be careful as you go.”
She was about to walk away when she heard a soft voice behind her.
Zhao Mumu bit her lip and asked, “Can I borrow your arm for a moment?”
Her voice was low and tender. The last word came out almost too quietly to hear, like it had been squeezed out after much hesitation.
Ji Yanwan froze for a moment, unsure how to respond.
Her silence seemed to answer for her. Zhao Mumu did not repeat the question.
Instead, she whispered an apology and lifted her skirt, walking slowly forward with her back held tight and tense, like a small frightened animal.
After just a few steps, she stumbled again.
Ji Yanwan finally stepped forward and took her arm to steady her.
Their eyes met. Zhao Mumu’s eyes were brimming with tears, and her lower lip was tightly bitten, as if she were holding something in.
This only deepened Ji Yanwan’s guilt. She gently held Zhao Mumu by the wrist and said politely, “If you don’t mind, you can follow behind me. If you feel like you’re about to fall again, just hold on to me.”
Zhao Mumu nodded, then relaxed her stiff arm. Her shoulder blades shifted slightly as she let her body ease up, and her graceful back appeared more natural.
The two of them entered the hall together.
Their entrance quickly attracted attention. People began whispering and speculating the moment they stepped inside.
Ji Yanwan didn’t care about the stares. Her eyes scanned the room anxiously, searching for the one person she had been thinking about all day.
They had not spoken since separating that morning. Ji Yanwan had thought several times about reaching out to Fu Suihe, but in the end, she held back.
Fu Suihe also didn’t message her, as if they had silently agreed to give each other space until this evening.
Finally, in a far corner, Ji Yanwan spotted the person who had been on her mind.
Fu Suihe was looking at her too.
Joy blossomed in Ji Yanwan’s chest. She escorted Zhao Mumu to the Zhao couple, then quickly turned to make her way to the corner.
Even though it had only been one day, Ji Yanwan felt a sudden wave of longing hit her the moment she met Fu Suihe’s fox-like eyes.
The longing came so suddenly that even Ji Yanwan was surprised by it.
She walked straight to Fu Suihe’s side, ignoring the confused glances of those who had been quietly chatting with her. Ji Yanwan didn’t care what anyone thought.
Tonight, Fu Suihe looked especially beautiful, which only deepened Ji Yanwan’s feelings for her.
But Fu Suihe only responded with a faint smile. She made no effort to stand or greet her, not even offering a seat.
In contrast, Ji Yanwan’s eager approach made her look out of place.
Suppressing the disappointment rising in her heart, Ji Yanwan sat down beside her and tilted her head with a cheerful smile, gazing at her.
Fu Suihe was not in the mood to play along. After thinking for a moment, she looked serious and asked, “Why are you getting close to Zhao Mumu again?”
Hearing the jealousy in her tone, Ji Yanwan’s heart warmed. She gently tugged at the edge of Fu Suihe’s sleeve and spoke in a soft voice.
“I’m sorry. She almost fell at the door. I couldn’t just stand there and watch, so I helped her.”
Ji Yanwan lowered her head like a child who had done something wrong. “She saved me before, so I…”
Fu Suihe gave a cold, mocking smile. “So you’re saying it’s my fault for not saving you, is that it?”
Ji Yanwan hadn’t expected that. She grew flustered and tried to explain. “No, that’s not what I meant. Suihe, I…”
“I don’t want to hear it.” Fu Suihe’s tone was flat. “You’ve always been playful, and I was the only one willing to overlook your past. But you can’t continue being this way after we’re married. You can’t keep getting entangled with other people.”
Her sudden and harsh words drained the color from Ji Yanwan’s face.
Just as Ji Yanwan tried to speak, Fu Suihe cut her off again.
“I thought you didn’t message me because you were with your sisters,” she said coldly. “But now I see you just didn’t want me to know you were spending time with Zhao Mumu.”
Her voice remained emotionless, with no inflection at all, but every word struck Ji Yanwan like a blow.
Fu Suihe looked at her with deep disappointment, casting a sideways glance as she said, “So this is the real reason you didn’t want me to come?”
“No, I really came here with my sisters,” Ji Yanwan explained, struggling to stay calm. “Something happened on the road and they went to the lounge. I just came in first.”
She had wrestled with whether or not to tell the truth, but in the end, she followed the story Bai Li had told her to stick to.
Just before entering the hall, Bai Li had grabbed her wrist and given her a final reminder.
“No matter who asks you who you came with, say it was with your two sisters. If they press you, tell them they went ahead to the lounge.”
Ji Yanwan had been confused. “Aren’t you coming with me?”
Bai Li had shaken her head. Ji Mingtao had just sent her a message, asking her to pause outside the venue. Bai Li had no choice but to let Ji Yanwan go in alone.
“Say that to everyone?” Ji Yanwan asked nervously. “Even Suihe?”
Bai Li nodded firmly. “Even her. The eldest Miss Ji was in a car accident on the way here. The person responsible hasn’t been found yet, so we’re keeping her movements confidential.”
Ji Yanwan had panicked. “What happened? Was it serious?”
Bai Li saw she was truly worried and reassured her. “She wasn’t hurt, just a warning. We don’t know who did it yet.”
Ji Yanwan had quickly understood and agreed.
She ran into Zhao Mumu right after stepping out of the car.
Back in the present, Ji Yanwan still felt uneasy.
She wasn’t sure why, but a strange sense of guilt and hesitation had stopped her from telling Fu Suihe the truth.
Even after repeating the story Bai Li gave her, Fu Suihe’s expression didn’t change.
She still looked disappointed.
Ji Yanwan had no idea what Fu Suihe was thinking. Her heart was filled with doubt and regret.
The conversation between them came to a stop, as if it had been cut off. Neither of them spoke for a long while.
Eventually, Fu Suihe stood up and began to walk away. Ji Yanwan reached out and gently grabbed her wrist.
“Where are you going?” she asked carefully.
“To the restroom.” Fu Suihe pulled her hand free without turning back and walked away.
Ji Yanwan stood frozen in place, a little dazed.
Just then, something in her mind buzzed. At the same time, a sharp tingling sensation shot through her lower back.
During this time, Ji Yanwan had been avoiding her tasks. She had been doing it subconsciously, not wanting to hurt Fu Suihe by following the system’s orders. So, she chose to ignore the occasional prompts from the system.
But avoidance only worked for so long. What was meant to happen eventually caught up with her.
[Mission Seven: Establish intimate contact with Zhao Mumu.]
Under the pressure of the emotion-binding parasite, Ji Yanwan instinctively rejected the mission.
When the system failed to take control, its patience wore thin. A jolt of strong electric current shot through Ji Yanwan’s lower back, making her body twitch.
Her eyes darkened slightly. Her mind began to drift.
[System: Host’s primary consciousness is no longer responding properly.]
[System: Initiating secondary personality in trial mode. System will transfer control following a short tone.]
Beep.
Within just three seconds, Ji Yanwan’s dazed state disappeared. She returned to normal.
She lifted her head again and looked around at the passing crowd.
Her grey eyes now gleamed brighter than when she first received the mission. Paired with her red lips, she radiated a seductive intensity.
The mission was reissued, but Ji Yanwan didn’t seem interested in completing it just yet.
She scanned the other guests calmly, her polite and distant smile never wavering. Then she turned and walked toward the restroom.
Compared to the lively banquet hall, the restroom area was much quieter.
The person who had supposedly gone to the restroom earlier clearly hadn’t come this way.
Ji Yanwan let out a cold laugh and turned in the opposite direction. As she rounded the corner of a hallway, she ran straight into someone.
Their eyes met.
Fu Suihe blinked slowly. Her lashes fluttered in the dim light like the wings of a butterfly, delicate and ready to take flight.
Ji Yanwan did not approach. She stopped where she stood, her gaze falling on Fu Suihe’s hand, which she was hurriedly trying to hide behind her.
That direction led from the private lounge, the one prepared specifically for Ji Hesong.
Now they stood apart, one on each side of the hallway, silently facing each other. Everything that needed to be said was already understood.
Caught off guard, Fu Suihe felt an inexplicable wave of anxiety. She didn’t know why, but the look in Ji Yanwan’s eyes carried a heavy, suffocating pressure.
It was a bad feeling, one that reminded her of the darkest period of her life, when she had been trapped in the wolves’ den.
It was as if the grey wolf she had buried in her memory had come back to life. Her body instinctively felt fear, like prey before its natural predator. She froze, unable to move.
She stood there, watching Ji Yanwan slowly walk toward her. Nothing seemed different about her, and yet everything felt changed.
If she hadn’t verified over and over that Ji Yanwan was human, Fu Suihe would have believed that the girl might sprout claws at any moment and pin her to the ground.
As Ji Yanwan drew near, Fu Suihe’s heart jumped to her throat. She forced a dry smile and blinked.
Her fox-like eyes shimmered as she tried to activate the charm parasite within her.
Ji Yanwan didn’t stop. Her face showed no change at all.
A subtle discomfort began to stir in her glands. The charm parasite within her started to awaken. Without a responding signal from another parasite, it writhed frantically beneath her skin, sending waves of heat through her chest and heart, each wave bringing the sensation of a thousand ants crawling through her veins.
The charm parasite had clearly responded. But Ji Yanwan remained unaffected.
Panic began to creep into Fu Suihe’s normally calm face. Just as she tried again to trigger the parasite’s effect, she was suddenly grabbed by the throat and yanked backward.
Ji Yanwan’s grip was rough, almost beast-like.
She dragged Fu Suihe into one of the dark side rooms in the lounge. It was a private area sectioned off for guests. Once the door locked behind them, not even a sliver of light remained.
Fu Suihe was slammed against the wooden door. Her heart pounded wildly. The sense of danger overwhelmed her. Her body tensed in a survival response.
The darkness around her felt suffocating. It no longer felt like a private room. It felt like the return of that damp, freezing wolf den.
In her ears, she imagined water dripping from crumbling walls, the echoing splashes falling into deep cracks in the floor.
She heard the chilling howls of wolves.
And then came the sharp cry of a fox, slicing through the night like a blade.
Fu Suihe’s breathing grew rapid. Suddenly, she felt a weight on her shoulder, and in the next moment, her entire body was flipped over.
The darkness could not hide Ji Yanwan’s eyes. Her gray irises burned like fire, intense and unblinking, as if she could see straight through Fu Suihe.
Ji Yanwan stared down at her, gaze unwavering. She slowly raised a hand and gently brushed it across Fu Suihe’s cheek.
“Suihe, don’t touch my sister.”
Her voice was calm, but it left no room for reaction. Before Fu Suihe could say a word, the hand on her cheek abruptly shifted, seizing her jaw in a firm grip.
With her other hand, Ji Yanwan pinned Fu Suihe’s struggling arms above her head. In an instant, Fu Suihe lost all ability to resist.
Her chin was still locked in place, unmoving. Ji Yanwan leaned in closer, resting her own chin against Fu Suihe’s shoulder, and pressed a kiss to the base of her neck with chilling force.
Ji Yanwan’s lips were cold. There was no tenderness in the kiss, only dominance. The contact sent a shiver through Fu Suihe’s body, and an unfamiliar sense of fear began to rise within her.
Her shoulders trembled.
“If I ever find out…” Ji Yanwan whispered into her ear, her breath warm, her voice husky and low, almost amused.
“I’ll snap your neck.”
