- Chapter 16 - Everyone’s a Little Sour
Gu Jingxuan watched Xu Chi practically fly away, rubbing his nose as he smiled to himself.
The kid looks so cute when he blushes. Was that seriously his first French kiss?
“SHOCKING! Gu Jingxuan and Xu Chi Locked in an Inseparable Kiss on Set; Possible Secret Affair!?”
“What the hell?” Lin Tao, still sitting in the car, nearly jumped out of his seat when he saw the entertainment headline. After banging his head against the roof, he sat back down, scowling and clutching his scalp.
“What’s wrong?” Xu Chi looked up from the hand warmer Brother Gu had given him a few days ago, staring in confusion at the suddenly agitated Lin Tao.
Lin Tao didn’t say a word. He simply shoved his phone in front of Xu Chi’s face.
“Have these paparazzi run out of real news? They’re actually publishing this crap? Can’t they see you’re dressed as a woman?”
In his years as a manager, Lin Tao had grown to despise these indiscriminate paparazzi. If he could get his hands on one, he’d scold them back into the womb to be remade.
Xu Chi’s focus, however, wasn’t on the headline at all. Looking at the photo of himself and Gu Jingxuan kissing, his face—already flushed from the cold—turned an even deeper shade of pink.
So that’s what I look like when I kiss Brother Gu. I look so silly.
While Lin Tao was busy ranting with righteous indignation, Xu Chi quickly long-pressed the photo and forwarded it to his own phone.
“Hey! What are you doing, you little brat?”
Lin Tao turned around to see Xu Chi up to no good and gave him a light smack on the head.
“What did you just send?” Lin Tao took his phone back, only to find the WeChat record had been deleted. He shot Xu Chi a cold glare.
Under the scrutiny, Xu Chi shook his head like a rattle, looking at Lin Tao with the most sincere, “I didn’t do anything bad” eyes he could muster.
“Don’t think I don’t know what you did. You saved that photo for yourself, didn’t you?” Lin Tao knew exactly how Xu Chi felt about Gu Jingxuan. “You little brat, you never focus on the right things.”
Knowing Lin Tao wasn’t actually angry, Xu Chi stuck his tongue out at him and gave a goofy grin.
“Go on, get out of here. Stop bothering me.” Seeing Xu Chi smile like that, Lin Tao’s frustration vanished. He swatted away Xu Chi’s face as he leaned in. “Go ahead and admire your Brother Gu’s ‘god-tier’ looks.”
Having received his orders, Xu Chi sat back in his seat and happily daydreamed.
Once they returned to the hotel, however, things weren’t quite so relaxed. As soon as he entered his room, he was snatched up by Xie Jin, who clung to him like an octopus.
The man was practically wailing. “Little Chi! I haven’t even kissed you yet, and you went and gave your first French kiss to another man!”
“You could tell it was a French kiss?”
The moment the words left Xu Chi’s mouth, Xie Jin pinned him onto the bed. “Oh? So, you’re pretty happy about it, huh? This baby is upset now, the kind that can’t be cheered up!”
Xie Jin let go of Xu Chi and retreated to a small sofa in the corner, shooting him resentful little glares.
Knowing Xie Jin was just messing around again, Xu Chi laughed, grabbed a pillow from the headboard, and tossed it at him.
“Can’t you be serious for once?”
Xie Jin caught the pillow and hugged it to his chest, looking utterly scornful. “Hey, everyone’s allowed to be a little sour (a ‘lemon spirit’). We grew up together, and I haven’t even touched your lips!”
Xu Chi laughed, tempted to give him a playful kick. “Is that supposed to be an honor?”
Xie Jin immediately turned his head away, refusing to look at him. “I wanted your ‘first time,’ you know!”
Hearing that, the temperature in Xu Chi’s face slowly began to rise.
My first French kiss went to Brother Gu. That’s actually really nice.
