- Chapter 17 - The Power Bank Stand
As the end of the year drew closer, Xu Chi’s remaining scenes became fewer and fewer. Each day, after finishing two or three shots, he found himself with nothing to do but linger on the sidelines.
On this particular day, Gu Jingxuan had just finished his morning session. He was currently sitting in a reclining chair, dressed in a thin robe with a thick fur mantle draped over his shoulders, looking exceptionally noble as he played on his phone.
When Xu Chi had no scenes, he loved to stick close to Gu Jingxuan. It wasn’t exactly “clinging,” he just liked being near him. Even if they did nothing at all, simply sitting together quietly while each focused on their own phone, it made Xu Chi feel incredibly content.
Gu Jingxuan also enjoyed having Xu Chi around. The way the “kid” was so focused on him made Gu Jingxuan want to lean over and steal a kiss.
“Little Xu Chi, do you have a power bank?” Gu Jingxuan had filmed all day yesterday and went to bed early, so he hadn’t managed to charge his phone. His battery was down to 10%, and his match of Honor of Kings had only just begun.
Xu Chi rummaged through his bag and found a power bank he hadn’t used in a few days.
“I charged it fully a few days ago, but I’m not sure how much is left since I haven’t used it.”
Gu Jingxuan wasn’t picky. He took the power bank and the cable and plugged them into his phone.
“As long as it charges. This ‘Monkey’ is about to show them who’s boss,” Gu Jingxuan said, resting the power bank on his lap.
Xu Chi’s gaze didn’t land on the phone screen. Instead, it followed Gu Jingxuan’s hand as he set the power bank down.
Gu Jingxuan’s hands were very beautiful: long, well-defined, and looking as if they were meticulously carved. Xu Chi’s eyes followed the movement downward, but instead of looking back up, his gaze lingered on the power bank.
The placement was a bit conspicuous. The bulge in Gu Jingxuan’s lower body supported the device, effectively turning his lap into a stand for the power bank just below his abdomen.
Brother Gu’s… is so big.
Even through the layer of the loose robe, the size was evident.
Xu Chi instinctively swallowed and looked away, his face flushing crimson. He didn’t dare look at Gu Jingxuan again; in fact, he didn’t dare look anywhere near there.
During a brief gap while pushing a tower, Gu Jingxuan glanced at Xu Chi. He noticed that the boy’s ears were bright red and he was staring off into space.
“What’s on your mind, kid? Your face is so red.”
When Gu Jingxuan’s voice suddenly sounded in his ear, Xu Chi jumped up from his chair, giving Gu Jingxuan a start.
“What’s wrong? Did I actually scare you?”
Gu Jingxuan hadn’t expected such a drastic reaction and felt a bit embarrassed.
“No… no. It’s just, the heater is too strong. It’s making me hot.” Xu Chi’s body was still trembling slightly when he stood up; he was clearly quite shaken.
Gu Jingxuan glanced at the heater beside him. Since he was sitting between the heater and Xu Chi, he didn’t believe the “too hot” excuse for a second, but he didn’t call him out on it.
“I see. Sit properly then, and don’t catch a cold.” Gu Jingxuan turned back to his phone, focusing on the game while occasionally stealing a glance at Xu Chi.
Xu Chi didn’t dare let his mind wander back to those “adult-rated” thoughts. He sat there obediently, trying to stay mindful and composed. He listened to the game sounds coming from Gu Jingxuan’s phone, but he didn’t process a single sound. His mind was a total blank.
“You’re about to wrap your scenes, right?” Gu Jingxuan had already pushed to the enemy’s high ground and paused for a second to rest his fingers.
“Yes.”
Being reminded of it so suddenly, Xu Chi’s mood visibly plummeted.
