My Possessive Boss Is Unexpectedly Needy - Chapter 28
Chapter 28
Yu Zining realized that this situation had started because of him, so he nodded and agreed to the plan.
Soon, they arrived at the venue where the gala had been held. Everything had been restored to look exactly the same—the people, the decorations, even the drinks. Yu Zining had changed back into the attire he wore that night.
The moment he stepped out, he saw Li Ruixi. She arched an eyebrow at him, her eyes brimming with provocation. Yu Zining ignored her, keeping his eyes low as he walked to Lu Yeyan’s side.
Li Yiyang looked at the scene with satisfaction. “Very good. Let’s begin.”
Cups filled with plain water were handed out to everyone. “Now, everyone needs to create a lively atmosphere of water being splashed around!” Li Yiyang started by splashing some water on Li Ruixi.
“Hey! You brat!”
The atmosphere surged instantly. The entire hall became a chaotic scene of celebration, with water flying everywhere. Amidst the commotion, Li Ruixi saw her chance. Aiming directly at Yu Zining, she threw a cup of water his way.
Lu Yeyan moved swiftly, pulling Yu Zining into his arms. The water splashed across Lu Yeyan’s back instead. Yu Zining looked up at him, and Lu Yeyan looked back, the moment thick with an undeniable intimacy.
Li Ruixi froze, only to be hit square in the face by a stream of water. She spun around, glaring fiercely at Li Yiyang, who had splashed her.
“What… what are you doing?” Li Yiyang asked, sounding surprised.
Li Ruixi hurriedly straightened her skirt. “I don’t feel well. I’m going to rest.”
By then, Yu Zining had pushed himself away from Lu Yeyan. Lu Yeyan’s lips curled into a smirk. “Don’t forget your duties as my wife.”
Yu Zining gestured back: I don’t need you to remind me.
“Alright, alright! The reshoots are done. Perfect!” Li Yiyang shouted to the crew.
Soon, these “candid” shots were uploaded online. Just as planned, the original scandalous news about Li Yiyang was replaced. Simultaneously, YIY Group’s new collection trended on social media, becoming the latest obsession of the fashion world.
…
Late at Night…
A few stars dotted the vast, deep sky, much like the man sitting in the restaurant—utterly inscrutable.
Li Ruixi sat across from him, looking at him with disdain. “Why did you want to see me?”
He Yilun smiled, his slender fingers gripping a wine glass. His eyes were like a bottomless abyss as he took a light sip of the red wine. “What? Are you so unwilling to see me for Lu Yeyan’s sake? Don’t forget the relationship between our two families. You should know who you ought to be close to.”
Li Ruixi let out a cold laugh. “He Yilun, who do you think you are to talk to me like that?”
As the stepson of the Ou family, Li Ruixi had never respected him. Moreover, since he was now openly opposing Lu Yeyan, she felt she had to be on guard.
He Yilun’s gaze darkened for a moment, but then he laughed—a harsh, piercing sound. “Hahaha! Yes, yes, I’m not fit to speak to you. But Lu Yeyan is? Don’t forget, he’s already married.”
“That’s none of your business.” Li Ruixi stood up to leave.
He Yilun quickly blocked her path. “Wait, don’t go yet. I haven’t finished. Your father intends for us to have an arranged marriage. Did you know that?”
Li Ruixi froze. Seeing the smug look on his face, she frowned. “I won’t let that happen.”
“Of course,” He Yilun said smoothly. “I know how you feel. But are you sure you want to choose Lu Yeyan? You might not know this, but his new ‘wife’ is quite resourceful. Otherwise, Yan Yuchen wouldn’t have…”
Li Ruixi’s eyes widened with confusion. “Yan Yuchen? What happened to her?”
She knew Yan Yuchen had feelings for Lu Yeyan, but she had always considered her too foolish to be a real threat. To Li Ruixi, Yan Yuchen didn’t even qualify as a rival.
He Yilun lowered his voice. “Lu Yeyan didn’t tell you? Well, I suppose sending a long-time friend to the hospital just for the sake of his wife isn’t exactly something to be proud of.”
Li Ruixi had heard enough to get the gist of it. Her expression turned sour as she hurried out of the restaurant. The moment she was outside, she made a call: “Find out where Yan Yuchen is right now!”
…
Yu Zining returned to the villa and went straight to his room. It was a long time before Lu Yeyan entered the bedroom.
Yu Zining was standing by the window in his male clothes, his back to Lu Yeyan. Though he was physically close, Lu Yeyan felt as if they were separated by a thousand miles.
Lu Yeyan lay on the bed and said softly, “Come here.”
Yu Zining turned and walked toward him. Before he could get close, Lu Yeyan grabbed his arm, pulling him off balance so that he fell onto Lu Yeyan’s chest. He tried to struggle, but Lu Yeyan held him tighter.
“Lu Yeyan!”
“Call me A-Yan.”
Yu Zining sighed. “What exactly do you want?” He felt helpless against this childish, rogue-like version of the man.
Lu Yeyan whispered into his ear, “To fulfill your duties, of course.”
Yu Zining’s pupils contracted. He bit his lip hard. Suddenly, Lu Yeyan let go of him and looked at him with a shameless glint in his eyes. “Tonight, I want you to take the initiative.”
“You…”
The shameless request made Yu Zining’s face flush deep red. He clenched his fists. Is this how he chooses to humiliate me? To Lu Yeyan, he really was nothing more than a tool for venting.
“Well?” Lu Yeyan prompted, arching an eyebrow.
Yu Zining lowered his eyes. Mechanically, he began to remove his shirt. His hand moved to Lu Yeyan’s chest, devoid of any emotion.
Seeing this robotic, lifeless version of Yu Zining, a sudden surge of fury rose in Lu Yeyan. He grabbed Yu Zining and pinned him beneath him before he could react, frantically tearing at his clothes.
But Yu Zining didn’t move. He didn’t even resist. His eyes simply turned red at the rims.
Lu Yeyan froze. Looking down at the hollow shell of a person beneath him, he slammed his fist into the pillow next to Yu Zining’s head.
“Yu Zining!” he roared, his voice thick with rage. “Do you really hate being with me that much?”
