My Possessive Boss Is Unexpectedly Needy - Chapter 27
Chapter 27
Lu Yeyan was not one to sit idly by; he gently held the person in front of him who was beginning to lose control.
He spoke softly, “Let’s not fight, alright?”
Yu Zining closed his eyes. “Lu Yeyan, I’m truly so tired.”
Lu Yeyan’s thin lips parted slightly near Zining’s ear. “A-Ning, call me A-Yan, okay?”
Yu Zining’s eyes snapped open. Right now, his mind was filled with the image of Li Ruixi calling him “A-Yan.” So, Lu Yeyan is using me as a substitute for her? How pathetic.
He shoved Lu Yeyan away. “I want to be left alone.”
He said no more and turned to lie on the bed. Lu Yeyan stood frozen, his mouth opening as if to speak, but he ultimately remained silent. This time, Yu Zining was truly disappointed in him.
Lu Yeyan turned and left the room.
He returned to his study and opened the hidden compartment. Sitting before the funeral portrait, he poured the red wine he had brought into a crystal glass. Sadness finally surfaced in his eyes. Looking up at the man in the portrait, Lu Yeyan looked almost like a vulnerable child.
After a long silence, he spoke: “Dad, what should I do? It seems I’ve made a wrong move. Should I have never approached Yu Zining in the first place?”
A hazy gloom enveloped the secret room, and Lu Yeyan’s silhouette sitting there appeared weary and aged.
…
The Next Day
Yu Zining rose early. Sensing the quiet atmosphere in the house, he headed downstairs. Lu Yeyan was already gone. Was the company busy? Or was he intentionally avoiding him? Even Lu Yeyan didn’t know the answer.
At the office, Lu Yeyan tried his best to bury himself in work, attempting to keep his mind off Yu Zining.
“CEO, the Madam is here!”
Shen Ziqi’s words brought an instant spark to Lu Yeyan’s eyes. Yu Zining had actually come to see him. He didn’t know what he was hoping for, but the sight of Zining’s dejected eyes as he entered shattered his expectations.
The office door closed. Only Lu Yeyan and Yu Zining remained. Lu Yeyan reached out to pull him close. “A-Ning, why are you here?”
Yu Zining pushed his hand away and placed a folder on the desk.
“Lu Yeyan, this is a contract I’ve drafted. I know I don’t have the right to negotiate with you, but I wanted to try. I consulted a lawyer. Based on market rates, staying by your side for two years is enough to pay off the debt my father owes you. It’s just a contract. I know you might not sign it, but I won’t give up. If I’ve angered you, then just kill me!”
Lu Yeyan’s pupils contracted. His brow tightened as he pinned Yu Zining onto the sofa. This overbearing stance was exactly like the day they first met.
He stared intensely at Zining. “Yu Zining, you’re quite something. You’d rather die just to secure the right to leave me?”
Yu Zining squeezed his eyes shut, waiting for the storm of Lu Yeyan’s rage and the subsequent punishment. But to his surprise, Lu Yeyan stood up and grabbed the documents.
He was actually reading the contract!
Sitting across from him, Yu Zining let out a shaky breath. Lu Yeyan closed the folder and tossed it back in front of Zining.
Yu Zining spoke quickly: “The contract is entirely in your favor. During this period, I will cooperate with you as your wife, just like before. My only requirement is the two-year limit.”
“Fine!” Lu Yeyan actually agreed.
Yu Zining couldn’t believe his ears. The usually stubborn and dictatorial Lu Yeyan had actually accepted his terms.
“However…”
Yu Zining knew it wouldn’t be that simple. “However what?” As long as Lu Yeyan agreed to the two-year limit, Zining wasn’t afraid of any unreasonable demands.
Lu Yeyan gave a wicked smile. “I’m adding a clause. During this time, you must fulfill your duties as a wife not only in public but also in private. You must… satisfy me!”
He enunciated the last two words slowly, his snake-like eyes boring into Zining, as if trying to see through him.
Yu Zining jumped up, his face flushed with anger. “You! You’re shameless!”
Lu Yeyan shrugged. “You’re the one who wanted to negotiate. Or would you prefer to lose the two-year limit?”
Looking at Lu Yeyan’s teasing expression, Yu Zining felt a surge of fury. Fine. It’s not like it’s the first time… Even without this clause, would Lu Yeyan really restrain himself for two years?
Zining opened the contract, scribbled in the additional clause, and signed his name at the bottom.
Lu Yeyan arched an eyebrow and added his signature. Two years wasn’t long, but it wasn’t short either. Lu Yeyan had no intention of letting him go. Call him paranoid or a tyrant, he simply didn’t want to let him leave—not in this lifetime.
Having secured the contract, Yu Zining turned to leave, but Lu Yeyan blocked his path.
“Lu Yeyan, what are you doing?”
Lu Yeyan smirked. “What do you think?”
Yu Zining gasped. Does this beast want to do it right here in the office? He lowered his head, feeling incredibly conflicted.
Seeing Zining’s bright red face, Lu Yeyan laughed. “Hahaha! Yu Zining, what are you thinking about?”
Zining froze and looked up, confused.
“You didn’t think I was going to take you here in the office, did you? Well, it’s not a bad idea. An office romance is quite thrilling.”
Yu Zining was about to explode. “Lu Yeyan!”
Lu Yeyan wrapped an arm around Zining’s waist. “Shh, don’t be in a rush. That’ll happen sooner or later. But not now. You’re going to help me put on a show!”
Before he could finish, the door was flung open. Li Yiyang burst in, with Shen Ziqi trailing behind, unable to stop him.
“Young Master Li, the Madam is… inside!”
Li Yiyang saw Lu Yeyan holding Yu Zining, and for a moment, everyone just blinked at each other. Yu Zining immediately scrambled out of Lu Yeyan’s embrace.
Li Yiyang gave an awkward laugh. “I was in a hurry, sorry! I’m so used to barging into this office that I forgot you’re a married man now.”
Lu Yeyan stood there with a dark expression, making a shiver run down Li Yiyang’s spine. That was a bit reckless.
Yu Zining gestured: What is it?
In front of outsiders, Zining resumed his role as the mute. Though pretending was exhausting, he was willing to endure it to fulfill the contract and eventually leave.
Lu Yeyan remained silent, so Li Yiyang explained: “It’s like this: my trending scandal is getting out of hand. Since the gala was hosted by Yeyan, YIY is being affected too. Our plan is to tell the public that those photos were from a ‘water-splashing’ game at the gala, meant to promote YIY’s new waterproof suits. So, we need everyone to go back to the gala venue for some reshoots.”
