The “fake” young master, Song Yuening, was cold, elegant, and raised in the lap of luxury. Despite a sea of suitors, he never spared a glance for anyone.

Meanwhile, the “real” young master, Song Zhaoqing, grew up in the slums. He dropped out of school early to shoulder the heavy burden of his adoptive father’s gambling debts.

When their identities were finally restored, Zhaoqing expected to find warmth and family. Instead, he was despised by his biological parents for being “vulgar” and “low-class.”

  • When he donated bone marrow to his critically ill grandmother, they accused him of plotting for the family fortune.
  • The scarf he spent three months knitting for his father was tossed into the trash without a second thought.
  • To coax Song Yuening back home, his eldest brother said, “How could Zhaoqing ever compare to you? You are my only brother.”

They shared a birthday, yet the Song family only held a grand coming-of-age ceremony for Yuening. Fearing Zhaoqing would embarrass them, they locked him in a basement for a day and a night. Even more tragic was his boyfriend the man he thought was his salvation whose “white moonlight” (unforgettable true love) was also Song Yuening. His boyfriend forgot Zhaoqing’s birthday but could wait all night in the snow with a gift for Yuening. He even ruined Zhaoqing’s hard-won business just to make Yuening smile.

Finally, exhausted in body and soul, Zhaoqing was struck by an enemy’s car on a mountain road. As he lay dying, his face mangled beyond recognition, he saw the cold-hearted Song Yuening abandon everyone.

Zhaoqing felt only a sense of grim satisfaction. He realized then that Song Yuening was like the moon people could only look up at it, but the moon would never stop for anyone.

The Rebirth. Opening his eyes again, Zhaoqing finds himself back at the moment he was first brought back to the Song family.

This time, Zhaoqing decides to let go. He resolves to be a flamboyant, arrogant, and carefree youth. He will no longer chase the joke of “family affection” or “love.” His only plan: reclaim the mementos left by his late mother and leave for good.

However, in this life, after a twist of fate leads him to save Song Yuening, he finds himself inexplicably stalked by the man.

  • Zhaoqing hangs out with “bad influences” and refuses to wait for Yuening after school; that night, Yuening deliberately stands in the rain to get sick, prompting their father to order Zhaoqing to nurse him day and night.
  • Yuening places a priceless flower by Zhaoqing’s bed every morning; because Zhaoqing mentions he “dislikes” them, Yuening burns down the entire flower garden.
  • When a guest mocks Zhaoqing’s gift at a banquet, Yuening kicks the man into the pool and holds a gun to his head, demanding an apology.

Yuening has gone mad, and Zhaoqing is terrified. Fortunately, he has finally saved enough money to vanish. But when the Song family prepares to send Yuening to a top university abroad, Yuening stares at Zhaoqing with a desperate, obsessive intensity: “Zhao-zhao, please… come with me, okay?”

Zhaoqing’s answer is cold and final: “No. From now on, I want nothing to do with you or the Song family.”

Years Later

To save the small company he co-founded with a friend, Zhaoqing is forced to swallow his pride and seek investment. By now, Song Yuening has regained the memories of his past life and has become the youngest son of the elite Jiang family.

Zhaoqing smiles bitterly. Now that the “Heaven’s Chosen One,” Song Yuening, has arrived, it’s time for a “supporting character” like him to exit the stage. But Song Yuening is even more insane than before.

Publicly, Yuening is aloof, tossing Zhaoqing’s proposal into the trash. Privately, he pins Zhaoqing against his front door, demanding to know if his business partner is actually his boyfriend. When Zhaoqing remains silent, Yuening misinterprets it as a confirmation and descends into a humble, frantic obsession:

“As long as you don’t leave me, we can even have an affair. I don’t need a status… I just need you to give me a little bit of love.”

When Zhaoqing coldly states he never liked him, Yuening immediately uses his friends and company to force a marriage alliance. “Marry me, and I will hand over the Song and Jiang corporations to you as your dowry. The price is that you belong to me. Is that okay?”

The once-noble Song Yuening begs for love while pointing a gun at the Song family: “Whoever bullied you, tell me. Whoever you dislike, I will make them disappear.”

Zhaoqing is about to refuse when he sees Yuening turn the gun on himself, finger on the trigger: “I see… the person you dislike most is me, isn’t it? It’s okay, Zhao-zhao. I’m not afraid of the pain. I’m only afraid of you not loving me.”

Zhaoqing always thought Song Yuening was the moon, unreachable and cold. He never expected that one day, he the “cannon fodder” side character would tame that moon and watch it fall into his arms.
