Mistakenly Seen as a Scumbag by My Wife with Seven Personalities - Chapter 12.2
Gu Fei, who was prepared, took the grape Pei Yao fed her and explained softly.
“Auntie Sun twisted her waist a while ago and needs to go to the hospital for regular treatment. Wife, is it okay if you rest at home this afternoon? I’ll accompany her to the hospital.”
Even though Auntie Sun had just refused, Gu Fei was determined to have her act as her wingman today no matter what.
“Okay.”
The unsuspecting Pei Yao agreed easily. She paused, then glanced around the room.
“But you have to drop me off at my old place first. I’m not quite used to living here.”
Noticing the faint rejection in her eyes, Gu Fei felt a pang in her heart. “Why?”
Pei Yao narrowed her eyes slightly and, with a gentle smile, reached out to pinch both of Gu Fei’s ears, forcing them up until she looked like Mickey Mouse.
“Because this place is too big. President Gu doesn’t come home often, and it’s lonely being left here by myself.”
Gu Fei’s chest tightened. She took hold of Pei Yao’s fingertips and promised, “I’ll come home every day from now on.”
“Mm, then I look forward to President Gu’s performance.”
With a soft laugh, Pei Yao fed her a grape with a tender smile.
Just as Gu Fei blushed and parted her lips to take it, the sound of Auntie Sun’s footsteps returning echoed from the living room.
Fearing they’d be seen, Gu Fei instinctively tried to back away, but Pei Yao held the back of her neck and pulled her close, feeding the succulent grape into Gu Fei’s mouth.
“Is it sweet?”
Watching Gu Fei’s face flush instantly, Pei Yao rested her chin on her hand and teased her.
“…Sweet.”
Gu Fei glanced at her, her heart racing as she bit into the grape. Although the fruit was a bit tart, her heart felt incredibly sweet.
“Xiao Fei, come help me look at this…”
Auntie Sun’s voice finally reached them from the living room. Pei Yao took the hand of the blushing, dazed Gu Fei and walked over.
“This is the massager your sister brought back from abroad for me. But the manual is all in foreign languages, and I can’t understand a word. She left in such a hurry at noon that I didn’t get to ask… Xiao Fei, take a look and teach me how to use it.”
“Okay.”
Having regained her composure, Gu Fei took the manual and began teaching Auntie Sun according to the instructions.
“Xiao Fei, now that I have this massager, I don’t think I need to go to the hospital anymore. Going once a month is such a hassle and a waste of money. This thing is much more convenient,” Auntie Sun remarked as she memorized the buttons.
She was already preparing to strap the device to her waist, her movements so quick that Gu Fei barely had time to react.
“Auntie, your waist is injured. It’s best to use a massager under a doctor’s guidance, otherwise, improper use could easily cause more serious harm.”
At the critical moment, it was Pei Yao who stepped in and turned off the power to stop her.
“I see…” Auntie Sun felt a bit dejected as she removed the massager, finally relenting. “Alright then, shall we head to the hospital soon?”
“Yes, I’ll bring the device along so we can get the doctor’s opinion.”
Gu Fei shared a silent look with Pei Yao, feeling relieved as she packed the massager back up.
While Auntie Sun went to change, Gu Fei and Pei Yao headed to the yard to start the car. Out of the corner of her eye, Gu Fei saw Pei Yao playing with her phone, which reminded her of Teacher Song’s request for a new bank card.
Gu Fei hadn’t thought much of it then, but looking back, it was likely because Teacher Song didn’t have her own identification. Furthermore, constrained by her persona, she truly intended to earn money by teaching Gu Fei.
But if that was the case, one thing still puzzled Gu Fei: as a new identity, how did Gu Yi manage to open a bar? And compared to Pei Yao, the attitudes of Gu Yi and Teacher Song seemed quite different…
These questions remained unanswered even after Gu Fei dropped Pei Yao off at her home. It wasn’t until she reached the hospital that she found some clarity.
After settling Auntie Sun in the Traditional Chinese Medicine department, Gu Fei went to the psychiatry department next door.
“Actually, based on your description, I’m inclined to believe your friend has Dissociative Identity Disorder. Patients typically exhibit two or more distinct personalities, each with its own independent age, habits, and memories…”
Listening to the doctor, Gu Fei felt a sense of dazed shock. “It’s not just being too deep in a role or…”
“Those are two completely different things, Chairman Gu. While a few actors do experience difficulty distinguishing reality from fiction, no one switches between multiple roles within a few days simply from being ‘too deep’ in a role.”
“…However, I need to have contact with the patient personally to assess the situation. If possible, it would be best if you brought your friend here.”
Gu Fei remained silent, instinctively looking at the bracelet on her wrist.
In fact, while she was searching for information last night, she had briefly opened a page on Dissociative Identity Disorder. Although she had closed it quickly when she realized her wife was missing, she remembered some key information.
Dissociative Identity Disorder, commonly known as multiple personalities, is usually related to traumatic experiences during childhood. The patient forms different personalities to cope with various emotions and stresses.
Her eyes grew hot and sore. Gu Fei bit her lip, feeling a wave of pity so strong she couldn’t speak. Just then, her phone rang. She looked down in a panic to see it was Pei Yao.
“I’m sorry, I’ll talk to you more later.”
With red-rimmed eyes, Gu Fei excused herself to the hallway after a quick word with the doctor.
“…Wife, what is it?” Gu Fei forced a smile into her voice as she answered.
“Gu Fei.”
Pei Yao was facing her own dilemma at home and didn’t catch the emotion in Gu Fei’s voice. Because Gu Fei said she was coming back tonight, Pei Yao wanted to give the house a good cleaning. But the place was so large she couldn’t manage it alone and decided to hire a cleaning service online.
However, when it came time to pay, Pei Yao realized she was penniless.
Reaching out for money from the person she cared about most was a bitter pill to swallow. It reminded her constantly of the gap and inequality between her and Gu Fei.
Squatting by the sofa with her knees hugged to her chest, Pei Yao hesitated for half an hour before finally making the call. Even though it hurt, it was the reality she had to accept.
Even as Pei Yao tried to sound casual, Gu Fei sensed her inner struggle.
“It’s my fault. I forgot to link a bank card to your new phone yesterday. Wife, wait for me a moment.”
After transferring a sum of money to Pei Yao’s account, Gu Fei sent over her own bank card number and password. “You can use it as you like.”
“Mm… thank you,” Pei Yao responded, her voice sounding a bit unnatural. To think she was older than Gu Fei, yet she had been reduced to asking her young fiancée for money. Sigh.
Hearing the word “thank you” again, Gu Fei’s feelings were completely different. Yesterday, she could joke with Teacher Song about being too polite, but now she understood that at that time, Teacher Song likely truly treated her as a stranger.
At this thought, the tears Gu Fei had been holding back nearly overflowed. “Wife, why are you being so polite with me?”
“My money is meant to be used with you. Do you want me to save it for other women to spend?” Knowing what Pei Yao cared about most, Gu Fei deliberately shifted her focus.
“…” Pei Yao squinted at her screen. “True. It seems I was overthinking. Before President Gu is lured away by other women, I should spend all your money until it’s gone.”
Hearing the threat in her tone, Gu Fei let out a silent smile. “The chances of that seem low. I have a lot of money—enough that you couldn’t spend it all in a lifetime.”
“Tch.” Pei Yao hung up the phone in a huff.
Gu Fei let out a light laugh at the black screen. She wiped the tear tracks from her face and took a deep breath before stepping back into the consultation room.
After returning Auntie Sun to the old estate, Gu Fei stopped by a bank on her way home to open a new account using her own ID. This was what she had promised Teacher Song.
At dinner, watching her wife be particularly enthusiastic about eating, Gu Fei smiled unconsciously. But then a thought struck her: was Pei Yao so focused on food because Qin Qingwei had gone hungry often in the past?
The thought made her smile vanish, and her food began to taste like wax.
“Is my cooking that bad?” Pei Yao put down her chopsticks and pinched Gu Fei’s ear.
Facing her glare, Gu Fei shook her head dazed. “No, it’s delicious.”
“If it’s delicious, why do you look like you’re about to cry?”
“It’s… it’s so delicious I’m crying. I haven’t had a meal this good in a long time. It tastes like home.” Gu Fei, having mastered the skill of lying without a second thought, shoved a large mouthful of rice into her mouth to prove her point.
“…” Pei Yao stared at her with a look of disbelief. The more she looked, the more she felt Gu Fei was a bit of a dork. Maybe I really shouldn’t worry about her cheating. How could this little idiot cheat?
If anything, she should watch out for other women. Gu Fei’s dorky side was quite cute, and her serious side was even cuter.
Thinking this, Pei Yao cupped Gu Fei’s head and kissed her on the cheek. “If it’s good, eat more. Let me feed you.”
Pei Yao took Gu Fei’s bowl and chopsticks, sat on her lap, and began to feed her.
“Wife, aren’t you eating anymore?” Gu Fei asked softly as she bit into a shrimp Pei Yao fed her.
“I’m full,” Pei Yao replied casually, feeding her a spoonful of white fungus soup.
“Are you really full? Won’t you be hungry in the middle of the night?” Recalling Pei Yao eating two cakes last night, Gu Fei instinctively looked at her belly.
“No, because I had afternoon tea while you were gone.” Pei Yao added with a raised eyebrow, “Bought with your card.”
“…Oh. But afternoon tea won’t make me go broke.” Gu Fei smiled, finding her cute, and wrapped her arms around Pei Yao’s waist.
After some thought, she brought up the suggestion she had planned on the way home.
“Wife, is there anything you want to do? Like starting a business, or any other hobbies, investments, or financial management? Actually, starting a business burns through money the fastest—why don’t you try that?”
Following the doctor’s advice, Gu Fei felt she should provide subtle psychological therapy based on each of Qin Qingwei’s personas. Since Pei Yao felt a psychological gap due to bankruptcy, Gu Fei would help her rebuild her career.
Pei Yao set down the chopsticks and looked at Gu Fei with a meaningful expression. “The last time I started a business, I bankrupted myself. Are you sure?”
Gu Fei nodded without hesitation and kissed her wrist. “It’s okay. I have the ability to back you up, wife.”
Pei Yao’s lips curved. Seeing the faint, damp lip print on her wrist, she reached back and wiped it clean on Gu Fei’s face.
“No kissing while eating.”
“You kissed me proactively after eating dessert last night,” Gu Fei complained.
“Who told you not to refuse?” Pei Yao hummed and took a napkin to wipe her face clean.
“…Because it was sweet,” Gu Fei whispered with burning ears.
The hand wiping her paused. Pei Yao, her heart stirred by the flirting, took hold of Gu Fei’s chin and leaned down to lick her lips.
“Mm, President Gu is quite sweet too.”
“Then kiss me a little longer…” Sensing Pei Yao’s brief touch, Gu Fei pulled her closer and captured her lips.
When the lingering kiss ended, a softened Pei Yao leaned against Gu Fei’s chest, her fingers playing with strands of her hair.
“Let’s forget about starting a business. I really don’t have the talent for it. However…” As Gu Fei prepared to continue her persuasion, Pei Yao shifted her tone and looked up with an exceptionally gentle smile. “I do have a job I’m interested in.”
“What is it?”
Under Gu Fei’s encouraging gaze, Pei Yao began fiddling with the buttons of Gu Fei’s shirt.
“Secretary.”
“Secretary?” Gu Fei frowned instinctively. This was a bit difficult. Putting aside Qin Qingwei’s illness, just her status as an actress.
“Being your secretary is that not allowed?” Pei Yao sat up slightly, as if afraid Gu Fei would refuse. “By staying by your side, I can also learn about managing a company. You’ll teach me properly, right?”
Gu Fei’s arm was pulled into her embrace and rubbed against her, while Pei Yao’s voice drifted into her ear, soft as water.
Furthermore… Gu Fei’s shirt collar had been unbuttoned at some point, and Pei Yao’s palm was gently stroking her collarbone.
Gu Fei looked down with a racing heart, taking hold of her wrist with a hesitant voice. “Wife, if you work by my side, I won’t be able to help but be distracted…”
“Then does President Gu mean to say you aren’t capable?” Pei Yao let out a silent smile. While pressing a kiss to her collarbone, she guided Gu Fei’s hand beneath her skirt.
“Who was it this morning that said they were ‘very capable’?”
