Drink This Bowl Of Dog Blood! [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 16
Once Cheng Siyou finished reading, the group members looked at each other, thinking that the production team certainly knew how to create drama.
“Whoa, is it really going to be this intense?” Cheng Siyou took the USB drive from the director, his eyebrows arching. “Let’s try to guess who everyone’s X is first.”
With a mischievous intent to stir the pot, Cheng Siyou looked at Song Yanxing and asked, “I have always felt that you and Qiuyi are quite comfortable around each other. So, are you two in that kind of relationship?”
Song Yanxing, surprised to be called out, did not answer immediately. Instead, he met the gaze of the person looking at him for a brief moment before pursing his lips into a light smile, throwing the question back at Cheng Siyou. “Which kind of relationship are you referring to?”
“I lose, I lose,” Cheng Siyou said, raising both hands. Seeing that Song would not take the bait, he gave up.
Meng Can glanced around and asked bluntly, “Then I will guess one. Are Xiangyu and Siyou each other’s X?”
Cheng Siyou pressed his lips thin, ignoring the look Zhou Xiangyu sent his way, but still said with a smile, “We will find out shortly.”
In that awkward atmosphere, the short videos began to play.
The camera panned across the scenery outside a window before slowly settling on a table with two cups of coffee. A man unbuttoned his shirt cuffs and rested his hand on the table, tapping it leisurely. After a while, the door to the private room opened, and Ye Hui entered.
“Sorry to keep you waiting. There was an unexpected issue at work,” Ye Hui said, smoothing his hair as he looked at the man in the gray and white coat.
The camera moved from the person at the door to the man in the chair: Song Yanxing.
Song Yanxing smiled and said, “It is fine. I only arrived a moment ago.”
This was their first meeting after finalizing the divorce, yet it took place surrounded by cameras. Ye Hui sat down, hiding his internal turmoil.
“How have things been lately?” Song Yanxing asked, breaking the stalemate.
“The projects are going smoothly,” Ye Hui replied, looking up at Song Yanxing. He felt increasingly that this person, who once loved him deeply, had changed. Remembering the audition clips he saw on Weibo, he unconsciously kept his eyes on him. “And you? I heard you are preparing for a comeback.”
Ye Hui suddenly felt ridiculous for asking. He had coerced Song into this show as a condition for the divorce, and after learning about the comeback, he had used the excuse of gaining publicity to persuade him to join. Now, he was acting as if he were unaware.
As if sensing his embarrassment, Song Yanxing gave brief answers about his recent life and quickly shifted the topic. The video ended after the two finished filling out their cards.
“This result is not very surprising,” Cheng Siyou said, resting his chin in his hand as he looked at Song Yanxing and Ye Hui sitting at opposite ends, teasing them.
Tan Qiuyi looked away from the screen. Even though it was exactly what he had guessed, his heart felt a bit heavy, and he found it difficult to remain indifferent.
Meng Can watched as the staff took a card from a box and handed it to Song Yanxing. His eyes widened slightly as he asked, “Are we giving the cards to the person we want right now?”
A staff member behind the camera replied, “Yes. Please give the card with the most memorable place with your X to someone other than your X. The date will take place tomorrow.”
“That is interesting,” Cheng Siyou remarked. He had underestimated the production team’s ability to stir the pot. This was a guaranteed disaster zone.
Everyone present turned their gaze toward Song Yanxing and Ye Hui, who held the cards. Song Yanxing looked down at his card and then, ignoring Ye Hui who stood frozen beside him, walked straight toward Tan Qiuyi.
Zuo Yi’s hand tightened on the sofa as he watched Song Yanxing’s direction.
“Is this okay?” Song Yanxing asked, looking down at the person on the sofa.
Tan Qiuyi’s gaze followed him as he walked over, feeling a stir in his heart. It felt like the early morning when Song Yanxing had asked him to build a snowman. Back then, Tan had asked if it was okay; now the roles were reversed, but his answer was exactly the same.
“It is” Tan Qiuyi began, but he was interrupted.
“The person being invited has the right to refuse!” a staff member shouted, continuing to stir the pot.
Tan Qiuyi instinctively looked up at Song Yanxing, only to find the man’s eyes fixed entirely on him. During those few seconds of eye contact, it felt as if time had stopped. Tan Qiuyi was the first to look away, ignoring the warmth in his ears. “It is okay,” he said, taking the card.
On the other side, Ye Hui handed his card to Chi Ting, and the two successfully formed a group. Seeing the disappointed expressions of the staff who failed to stir up more drama, Cheng Siyou laughed and manually played the next video.
He ended up being the subject of the next reveal. The moment he saw Zhou Xiangyu’s face, Cheng Siyou quickly looked away, feeling embarrassed enough to curl his toes.
Once the video finished, a heartless Cheng Siyou walked over to Zuo Yi. “President Zuo, do you want to go out and have some fun with me?”
Out of polite etiquette, Zuo Yi did not refuse. After receiving agreement, Cheng Siyou skipped back to his seat and shot a look at Song Yanxing that said: Brother Song, go for it! He was completely unaware of the murderous glare coming from the person beside him.
Zhou Xiangyu laughed in frustration and handed his card to Meng Can, who sat nearby. Sensing the awkwardness between the two, Meng Can did not refuse.
The next video featured Chi Ting and Meng Can. They seemed quite familiar in the video, but they were like friends who lacked a certain spark of love.
By this point, everyone knew all the ex-couples, but they still watched the final video carefully. This video was different from the others, set in a simple and elegant lounge.
“Have you been waiting long?” Zuo Yi walked in, loosening his tie. Seeing the cold water on the table, he said to someone behind him, “Replace this with warm water.” He then walked toward the person sitting by the floor-to-ceiling window.
“Do not bother, thank you.”
The cool, clear voice reached the secretary who was about to leave, causing them to stop awkwardly. Zuo Yi sat on the sofa, looked back at the waiting secretary, and said, “Do as he says. You may leave.”
Turning back to Tan Qiuyi, he asked, “Why didn’t you have the secretary let me know?”
“I did not want to disturb your meeting, and I was in no hurry,” Tan Qiuyi replied.
The two were silent for a moment. Zuo Yi spoke up, “I heard that for the show recording, we have to pretend not to know each other. You” He realized as he spoke that pretending not to know each other seemed easy for them. Despite being married for over three years, they were only a polite couple on the surface, essentially like strangers.
“I heard that too,” Tan Qiuyi said, looking at him. “Let’s just get along well then.”
The video ended abruptly. With all the reveals finished, everyone now knew the identities of the ex-partners. The atmosphere grew increasingly somber, and the group members returned to their rooms one by one. Meanwhile, the internet was buzzing with a new wave of discussion following the latest episode.
