After Transmigrating into a Ridiculous Alpha, I Saved My Aloof Omega Wife - Chapter 18
“I heard you’re sitting next to the class monitor from Class 2?” Xu Yinghe seemed to casually bring up Cheng Jianli. “How did you end up as her deskmate?”
Jiang Muyan’s heart knew it was because she liked Cheng Jianli, but she couldn’t say that out loud. She laughed it off, “I just thought she’s really good at studying, so I wanted to learn from her.”
Xu Yinghe smiled, “No wonder you’ve been taking extra classes lately. Your mom’s getting stricter with you.”
As they entered the store, Xu Yinghe suddenly remembered something, “Oh right, someone from Class 5 next door presented as an omega.”
Jiang Muyan was slowly browsing for cooling patches for Cheng Jianli as she replied, “I heard about that a few days ago.”
“Make sure your parents get you some alpha suppressants to keep at home,” Xu Yinghe advised. “Both our medical reports show we’ll present as alphas. When your rut hits, it’ll be really uncomfortable. Suppressants will help.”
“Got it, I won’t forget.” Jiang Muyan thought to herself that she hadn’t felt anything unusual lately, shouldn’t there be signs before presenting in the ABO world?
She wondered what Cheng Jianli would look like as an omega.
The thought made her curious.
Strangely, Jiang Muyan wasn’t concerned about presenting as an alpha herself, but was intensely curious about Cheng Jianli becoming an omega. Her mind began conjuring up all sorts of peculiar scenarios.
“Is that the cooling patch you wanted?” Xu Yinghe’s voice snapped her back to reality.
Jiang Muyan looked around and finally spotted a stack of colorful cooling patches.
Excited, she told Xu Yinghe, “Found them! I’m getting a bunch.”
There were many varieties of cooling patches, some even designed in best-selling styles like strawberry, lime, and cherry flavors.
But that mango-scented bandage on Cheng Jianli’s neck probably meant she liked mango, right?
With this in mind, Jiang Muyan started searching through the pile for mango-flavored patches.
Xu Yinghe wiped her brow, “The AC in here seems broken. I’ll wait outside.”
Jiang Muyan nodded.
Alone outside, Xu Yinghe used her uniform to shield herself from the sun.
She moved under a tree for some shade.
After standing there awhile, Xu Yinghe suddenly heard commotion up ahead.
Looking over, she saw a group of boys making noise, with a girl surrounded in their midst, she could only see the girl’s back from this angle.
The boys’ taunts and laughter carried clearly. Xu Yinghe normally avoided such situations, having no interest in spectating drama. At this prestigious private school where most students came from wealthy families aiming to study abroad, she only had two friends, Jiang Muyan and Luo Jiajia.
If Jiang Muyan’s family stood at the absolute peak of Hongchuan Seventh High’s social hierarchy, Xu Yinghe and Luo Jiajia were comfortably upper-middle class. Only a handful of scholarship students from modest backgrounds attended.
Xu Yinghe was about to ignore the scene when, through a gap in the crowd, she spotted a red stain on the girl’s summer uniform pants.
Frowning, Xu Yinghe immediately strode over and demanded, “What’s going on here?”
In the center of the group stood a petite girl in school uniform, her shoulder-length hair slightly disheveled, fingers twisting together in distress.
The girl hadn’t expected her period to come so suddenly today, and she accidentally stained her pants. She wanted to rush to the bathroom immediately, but several boys noticed before she could leave.
Their unrestrained laughter pierced her ears. The girl bit her lip and stayed silent, she was used to feeling inferior in this school and had never learned to fight back.
Xu Yinghe, standing nearby, took a closer look at the girl. She seemed to be from Class 4, though Xu Yinghe didn’t remember her well. Her clothes made it obvious her family wasn’t well-off.
The girl’s uniform was worn out, and she wore a pair of tattered black cloth shoes, something rarely seen these days, especially in this school.
Xu Yinghe suddenly regretted getting involved. What good would associating with poor people bring her?
The girl looked up, and when she saw Xu Yinghe’s face, she froze in disbelief.
Xu Yinghe was strikingly beautiful, with delicate, fair skin and bright almond-shaped eyes, a rare feature.
For a brief moment, Xu Yinghe met her gaze calmly before turning to the lead boy and saying coldly, “Why is your mouth so filthy?”
Apparently, she had overheard their mocking remarks.
Perhaps it was the first time anyone had stood up for her, the girl’s eyes flickered with quiet gratitude.
Meanwhile, Jiang Muyan had finished buying mango-patterned cooling patches and was paying at the counter.
The cashier, charmed by her sunny and pretty appearance, struck up a conversation. Jiang Muyan smiled and asked, “Auntie, have you seen my friend?”
The cashier grinned. “The girl who came in with you? I saw her go outside under the tree.”
Jiang Muyan thanked her and stepped out of the store, only to find Xu Yinghe standing with a group of people. Confused, she walked over and asked, “What’s going on here?”
Xu Yinghe, surprised by Jiang Muyan’s sudden appearance, felt another wave of regret and reluctance. She never interacted with poor students at school.
Keeping her expression neutral, she replied, “Nothing. I just made them apologize.”
But when Jiang Muyan glanced around and pieced together what had happened, she turned to the boy with genuine sympathy and said, “You must have it so rough!”
The boy, already fuming from Xu Yinghe’s earlier remark, was caught off guard.
Xu Yinghe frowned. “What are you talking about?”
Jiang Muyan said seriously, “He must not have parents to teach him these things. That’s really tragic.”
The boy’s face darkened as he caught her implication.
“But I get it,” Jiang Muyan sighed. “Losing both parents so young must be hard. Girls get their periods every month, it’s nothing to be ashamed of. Now that I’ve told you, remember to respect them next time.”
The boy’s face flushed with anger, but Jiang Muyan suddenly gasped. “Wait, isn’t it class time? Why are you skipping?”
Her words left them speechless. Not daring to provoke Jiang Muyan, they muttered an apology to the girl and scurried away.
Xu Yinghe didn’t say much else, only murmuring vaguely to Jiang Muyan, “Let’s go.”
The girl’s gaze lingered on Xu Yinghe, pitiful and pleading. The attention made Xu Yinghe frown.
Suppressing her disdain for the poor, she took off her uniform jacket and handed it to the girl, saying airily, “If you’re embarrassed, use this to cover up.”
The girl clearly didn’t expect Xu Yinghe to hand her the school uniform. She took it with slight panic, finally mustering the courage to speak her first words: “M-my name is You Xia… thank you.”
Xu Yinghe didn’t offer her own name: “You can keep the uniform.”
She turned and left with Jiang Muyan.
You Xia watched Xu Yinghe’s retreating figure. The black cloth shoes on her feet looked so worn and conspicuous in the sunlight, yet the beige school uniform in her hands was spotlessly clean, even carrying a faint, sweet fragrance of perfume.
