After Transmigrating into a Ridiculous Alpha, I Saved My Aloof Omega Wife - Chapter 17
The PE class did indeed require running 800 meters. After leading the students through warm-up exercises, the PE teacher began registering them one by one. When he saw Jiang Muyan, he asked, “Are you from Class 2?”
Jiang Muyan replied, “Yes, teacher. I transferred from Class 1.”
“Alright, your group can run first,” the PE teacher said, letting the first group start while the second and third groups rested under the trees.
Jiang Muyan glanced discreetly at the group list and saw that Cheng Jianli was assigned to the second group.
She wondered how Cheng Jianli would fare in running.
Before transmigrating into the novel, Jiang Muyan remembered that Cheng Jianli only accompanied her on light activities like hiking or fishing during holidays, rarely did she run. Back then, Cheng Jianli was swamped with work from her company and research institute.
Yet, despite her busy schedule, Cheng Jianli still devoted all her remaining time to Jiang Muyan.
Hehe, her wife had been so gentle with her back then.
Lost in her thoughts, Jiang Muyan suddenly heard the whistle blow, and the first group dashed forward. She quickly followed.
Truth be told, Jiang Muyan was quite confident about the 800-meter run. After all, her years of taekwondo training weren’t for nothing. She knew the key to middle-distance running was pacing her breathing, so she didn’t sprint too fast at the start. Gradually, she overtook others and widened the gap between herself and the second-place runner.
Under the shade of the trees by the track, the scorching sunlight still filtered through the leaves. Cheng Jianli sat alone, watching the runners. She wore a loose beige school uniform, a few soft leaves clinging to her hair.
The uniform jacket was stifling under the heat. Fine beads of sweat dotted Cheng Jianli’s pale forehead, her cheeks flushed pink. But she had no choice, she wore a scent-blocking patch on the back of her neck and didn’t want anyone to notice.
An omega in pre-heat would attract unwanted attention if discovered. Though school was relatively safe, living alone meant home wasn’t as secure. The fewer people who knew, the better.
Suddenly, excited chatter erupted nearby: “Wow! Is that Jiang Muyan? She’s so fast!”
“No way, she’s really flying!”
“Who? Let me see!”
Cheng Jianli’s gaze shifted to the track, where Jiang Muyan had already entered her second lap, leaving the others far behind.
800 meters was child’s play for Jiang Muyan.
She always believed her poor academic performance had a reason while others studied, she was running wild; while they solved problems, she trained in taekwondo. That’s why her reflexes were so sharp.
If only pursuing Cheng Jianli had been this easy.
Thinking of the struggles before transmigrating, Jiang Muyan sighed inwardly.
By the end of the two laps, she had secured first place, nearly 100 meters ahead of the runner-up.
Tang Yu rushed over excitedly. “You’re amazing, Young Miss! Why did you transfer to Class 2? You could’ve brought glory to Class 1 in the sports meet!”
Catching her breath, Jiang Muyan looked up. “What sports meet?”
“The school sports meet! With your speed, the PE teacher will definitely rope you into the relay race,” Tang Yu said.
Just then, a tall boy approached Jiang Muyan, holding a bottle of water. A head taller than her and clearly an athlete, his face was slightly red. “Hi, I’m Wu Hao.”
Jiang Muyan: “?”
“I saw your post on the forum earlier and really wanted to get to know you,” Wu Hao handed over the water bottle, his intentions already clear. “Could you give me a chance, little sister?”
Tang Yu beside him was stunned, thinking to himself wasn’t that equipment room post already deleted? How could someone still remember it and even come looking for Jiang Muyan specifically?
Jiang Muyan scratched her head in confusion. “Are we related by blood? Why are you calling me ‘little sister’?”
Wu Hao: “…”
Wu Hao clearly hadn’t expected this response. A while ago, he had seen photos of her on the forum and developed a liking for her. Truthfully, he had also noticed Cheng Jianli at the time, but Cheng Jianli’s aloofness was notorious in Class 2, he didn’t like girls who were too cold.
Jiang Muyan, bright and cheerful, was exactly his type.
He continued, “If you don’t like it, I won’t call you that… Here, take the water.”
Jiang Muyan replied thoughtfully, “You shouldn’t drink water right after running. You should tell the first group not to drink either.”
Wu Hao was left speechless, while Tang Yu stifled a laugh beside him.
Jiang Muyan turned to leave, but Wu Hao persisted. “Could you give me your contact info?”
She waved him off, signaling for him not to follow. “If you need anything, just come to Class 2 and talk to me directly.”
Rejected so decisively, the boy looked awkward. Tang Yu stepped in to smooth things over. “What’s with asking for her number? Even I haven’t gotten it yet. Buddy, you’ll have to get in line.”
Jiang Muyan walked away and spotted Cheng Jianli sitting under a tree. She hurried over, fanning herself as she asked earnestly, “Teacher Cheng, are you really, really not hot? Your face is so red from the sun.”
Cheng Jianli had seen everything that just happened. She remarked, “I didn’t expect you to be so principled.”
Jiang Muyan: “?”
Cheng Jianli: “You told me before that you don’t give out your contact info casually. Seems like you meant it.”
Only then did Jiang Muyan realize Cheng Jianli had witnessed the exchange. She replied shyly, “Of course. I’ve only given it to you.”
Cheng Jianli looked at her, silent for a moment before asking, “So, do you really skip class?”
Jiang Muyan: “…Is catching me skipping class the only reason you wanted my number?”
“Of course not,” Cheng Jianli said. “There’s more.”
Jiang Muyan’s eyes lit up. “What else?”
Cheng Jianli: “Reminding you to do your math homework.”
Jiang Muyan: “…”
The second group from Class 2 was gathering. The September sun scorched the ground, and as Cheng Jianli stepped out from under the tree, she felt unbearably hot. Maybe it was the blazing heat, the sweltering summer air clung to everything. Standing at the back of the line, she felt unwell.
A whistle blew, and the second group began their 800-meter run.
Luo Jiajia stood beside Jiang Muyan, shielding her eyes from the sun. “Weird, why is Cheng Jianli still wearing her school jacket?”
Indeed, Cheng Jianli was the only one in the group still in full uniform, looking stifled and out of place.
Jiang Muyan was puzzled too. The weather was so hot, why wouldn’t she take it off? What if she got heatstroke?
With that thought, she turned to Luo Jiajia. “Jiajia, can you come with me to the school store?”
Luo Jiajia asked, “Right now?”
Jiang Muyan nodded. “I want to buy some cooling patches. They should have them there.”
Luo Jiajia said worriedly, “But our turn is right after the second group. I’m afraid we won’t make it in time.”
Xu Yinghe picked up her school uniform nearby and offered, “I’ll go with you. I’ve already finished my run.”
Both Jiang Muyan and Xu Yinghe had been in the first group.
So, the two left during free activity time. The back playground was still bustling with noise, but the sounds mingled with sweat gradually faded behind them.
Xu Yinghe wore a beige school jacket over her light blue short-sleeved shirt, its color matching the cloudless azure sky. She casually asked, “Are you settling in well in Class 2?”
“I’m just adjusting and it’s fine. It’s all the same wherever I go,” Jiang Muyan replied optimistically.
