Chapter 116: We’ll Kiss Later
Xia Shinan, of course, wouldn’t let Tang Yin have her way. She casually pulled the towel over Tang Yin’s head, covering her pitiful, puppy-like eyes.
“If you don’t dry your hair, are you hoping to catch a cold and get sick again, just when your leg is almost healed?”
Tang Yin didn’t move, listening to her words. The lips visible beneath the towel were slightly pursed, indicating a degree of unhappiness.
Xia Shinan, however, couldn’t help but smile. She leaned in and gave her a light peck, then quickly retreated the moment Tang Yin realized she was about to respond. She cleared her throat, pretending to be composed. “Go sit down. I’ll blow-dry your hair.”
Tang Yin obediently sat down, waiting for Xia Shinan to fetch the hairdryer. Soon, the low hum of the hairdryer began. Her hair was gently parted, and a comfortable warmth blew away the water droplets one by one.
Tang Yin’s hair was originally just past her shoulders but had grown quite a bit after being confined to bed for several weeks. After a few minutes, Xia Shinan was certain the hair was completely dry. She asked, “Do you want hair oil?”
“Yes,” a choked voice replied.
Xia Shinan was startled. “What’s wrong? Did I hurt you?”
Tang Yin smiled and shook her head. It was just that the moment was too warm, so good that it made her slightly afraid.
“Hair got into my eyes.”
“Sorry,” Xia Shinan apologized sincerely, applying some camellia-scented hair oil to Tang Yin’s ends. When she was finished, she said, “All done—”
Her words were cut short because Tang Yin, who had been sitting nicely on the chair, suddenly pulled her closer, burying her head deeply into Xia Shinan’s abdomen.
“What is it? Are you unhappy?” Xia Shinan was confused, but her hand instinctively stroked Tang Yin’s hair; it felt incredibly smooth.
Tang Yin didn’t speak but rubbed against her when she felt Xia Shinan’s touch. Then, she looked up at Xia Shinan.
“Looking at you from this angle is a little strange.”
Xia Shinan instantly became nervous. Could she see a double chin from this angle? Or was her face somehow asymmetrical?
“What’s strange?”
“Hmm… I especially want you to kiss me,” Tang Yin still looked up, her lips slightly parted. “Shinan, kiss me.”
Xia Shinan smiled helplessly, but internally, she couldn’t refuse Tang Yin’s plea for a kiss. She cupped Tang Yin’s face and leaned down for a deep kiss. Because of the hair oil, the hair emitted a very comforting fragrance, seemingly enveloping the two of them, forming an invisible barrier against the outside world.
The temperature in the bathroom rose again. There was nothing but the sound of their labored breathing until the hairdryer by the sink, which hadn’t been put away properly, fell to the floor. The sound jolted Xia Shinan back to reality.
She opened her eyes, looking at Tang Yin’s rosy lips and the bathrobe that looked ready to slip off at any moment. Her own dress was already wrinkled, and her body had already started reacting.
But… Xia Shinan glanced down at Tang Yin’s leg. Now is not the time.
“Alright, you’ve showered. Go to sleep first.”
Lust still hadn’t faded from Tang Yin’s eyes. “Just sleeping?”
Xia Shinan pursed her lips and answered with an “Mhm.” After a moment, she asked, “Do you want to sleep in the guest room or the master bedroom?”
Tang Yin answered without thinking, “With you.”
These three words had too great an impact. Xia Shinan instantly blushed and stammered, “B-but your leg isn’t healed yet…”
Tang Yin paused for two seconds, then smiled. “I meant purely sleeping. What were you thinking?”
This Tang Yin is a naughty dog! Xia Shinan stood up angrily, ready to turn and leave, but her wrist was tightly gripped. Then she heard the other person’s voice, full of amusement: “But actually, even if the leg isn’t working, it doesn’t affect the hands.”
Seriously, I worried about her health, and I’m being teased for it! Xia Shinan pulled the towel, which had been hanging up, back over Tang Yin’s head. “I don’t like making love with sick people!”
Then she bolted out the door.
Tang Yin laughed, took the towel off, and folded it neatly. Just as she was about to stand up herself, the angry woman returned.
“Come on, I’ll help you to the guest room.” This time, there was no choice.
“I’m sorry… I was wrong. I shouldn’t have teased you,” Tang Yin quickly apologized. “Can we just purely sleep together? I want to hug you while I sleep.”
“No,” Xia Shinan said with a straight face, though her hands were gentle as she helped Tang Yin stand up and slowly walk out of the bathroom.
“Shinan, Shinan, I don’t want to be separated from you.” Tang Yin continued to whisper beside her, her fingers lightly tugging at Xia Shinan’s sleeve button.
“Sleeping in the guest room isn’t separation,” Xia Shinan said.
“Fine…” Tang Yin lowered her eyes, her eyelashes fluttering, looking like an abandoned puppy. “It’s okay. At least we’re in the same house. If anything happens, I’ll call you.”
Then she paused. “Wait, I left my phone at the hospital.”
“So you do know you left your phone at the hospital,” Xia Shinan said crossly, but seeing Tang Yin’s pathetic look, she inexplicably softened.
“Then… sleep in my bed.”
“Really?” Tang Yin looked up, her eyes sparkling.
“Yes, so you don’t fall and cause more trouble if you want water or need the restroom in the middle of the night,” Xia Shinan said, leading her to her bedroom. After turning on the light, she went to the closet to find loose pajamas for Tang Yin to wear.
This was Tang Yin’s first time in Xia Shinan’s bedroom, and everything felt new. Then she looked down at the light pink nightgown Xia Shinan handed her.
“You want me to wear this?” Tang Yin felt a headache coming on. She had only worn pink dresses as a child. Later, her skin darkened from constant sun exposure, and as she grew older and her mind became more serious, she stopped wearing bright, cheerful colors.
“I looked everywhere, and this is all I found. The rest of my clothes are in the laundry hamper,” Xia Shinan blinked.
Tang Yin hesitated. “Can I not wear it?”
Xia Shinan cleared her throat. “If you don’t wear it, go sleep in the guest room.”
Tang Yin bit her lip and thought for a few seconds, finally making a decision. “Understood, I’ll wear it.”
She realized the mischievousness in Xia Shinan’s smile, knowing she was doing this on purpose, probably to get revenge for the bathroom teasing. But this playful side of Xia Shinan made her feel unspeakably happy.
“Mhm. I’m going to take a shower. You change and lie down first, okay?”
“Okay, go quickly. I’ll wait for you in bed,” Tang Yin said with a smile.
Saying such teasing words again, Xia Shinan glared at her, turned around, and closed the door behind her.
The lingering scent of white peach body wash remained in the bathroom. Xia Shinan had bought it casually and had never paid attention to it before. Perhaps because tonight was so different, the scent made her feel incredibly relaxed, and she couldn’t suppress the smile on her lips.
Xia Shinan lightly touched her own lips. She thought she probably did enjoy kissing Tang Yin, otherwise why would she still be reminiscing about it now?
Feeling a warm sensation surge through her body, Xia Shinan froze and quickly hurried to take a shower.
When everything was done, Xia Shinan, wearing a white nightgown, tip-toed into the bedroom, gently opening the door.
The light was still on, but the woman in the bed seemed to be sound asleep.
Xia Shinan walked into the bedroom, quietly closed the door, then went to the other side of the bed to lie down, reaching out to turn off the bedroom light.
The room had just plunged into darkness when she was tightly embraced by Tang Yin from behind.
“You scared me to death! Why aren’t you asleep yet?” Xia Shinan sighed and asked.
Tang Yin moved closer, rubbing her cheek against the back of Xia Shinan’s neck. “I waited for you for so long. I almost fell asleep because you took too long.”
Xia Shinan smiled gently. “Then I apologize for waking you up.”
“It’s okay,” Tang Yin said, kissing the skin on Xia Shinan’s neck. “Shinan, I saw the vase by your bedside.”
“Mhm, it’s the birthday gift you gave me,” Xia Shinan whispered.
“Do you like it?” Tang Yin hugged her tighter. Seeing the vase on the bedside table instantly solidified her belief that Xia Shinan truly had feelings for her, not just pity or sympathy.
“I like it.”
“Then do you look at it every night before you fall asleep?”
“Of course not,” Xia Shinan immediately said. If she admitted it, she knew Tang Yin’s tail would be wagging uncontrollably.
But as soon as she said it, Tang Yin held her and murmured, “I don’t like that answer.”
“Oh.”
“Change your answer, please, Shinan,” Tang Yin lightly bit her ear.
Xia Shinan bit her lip, mentally thankful that the lights were off, otherwise Tang Yin would see a furiously red face.
“Yes. Every time I come home, I look at the vase and can’t help but think of you,” she took a deep breath before slowly confessing.
She didn’t know what expression Tang Yin had behind her, but she felt a dampness on her neck.
“Shinan, good night,” Tang Yin said after a while, her voice trembling slightly.
“Good night, Tang Tang,” Xia Shinan replied.
A little after nine in the morning, Xia Shinan, whose biological clock was always punctual, slowly opened her eyes and realized they had slept through the night in the exact same position as when they fell asleep.
She wondered if Tang Yin, who had been holding her all night, had a numb arm. Thinking this, she moved slightly, wanting to help Tang Yin sleep more comfortably.
But with that movement, the woman behind her spoke.
“Are you awake?”
Xia Shinan paused, then simply turned over to face Tang Yin. “When did you wake up?”
“A little earlier,” Tang Yin said with a smile, leaning in to kiss Xia Shinan’s forehead. “Good morning.”
In truth, she had barely slept, spending the whole night thinking while holding Xia Shinan, seemingly afraid that dawn would break, and she would wake up from the beautiful dream, only to find herself back in the Haicheng hospital room.
“Good morning,” Xia Shinan smiled at Tang Yin, unaware of her thoughts. “Are you not used to sleeping here? You look a bit pale.”
“Of course not. Your bed is the most comfortable,” Tang Yin countered, raising an eyebrow.
Xia Shinan: …
Why is this person so full of nonsense and shameless after getting back together?
“Shinan, today is our second day together,” Tang Yin’s eyes sparkled, as if announcing wonderful news.
Xia Shinan couldn’t help but laugh at her words. “Yes, the second day.”
“Then we must celebrate properly.” Tang Yin gently caressed Xia Shinan’s cheek and leaned in to kiss her lips, but the phone rang inappropriately at that moment.
Xia Shinan opened her eyes to look, but Tang Yin pressed her down again. “Answer it later.”
“What if it’s a work call?” Xia Shinan insisted on answering. She had left work abruptly yesterday afternoon and hadn’t had a chance to inform Wen Juan.
If Wen Juan knew, it would be perfectly normal for her to call first thing this morning.
She sat up, saw Tang Yin’s wounded expression, and leaned down for a quick peck. “We’ll kiss later.”
Tang Yin was placated. She propped her head up with one arm, watching Xia Shinan search for her phone and answer the call.
However, the moment Xia Shinan looked at the phone, her expression became much colder. She pressed the answer button and listened silently to the woman on the other end screaming hysterically.
“The police came looking for me today! Xia Shinan, what did you tell the police?!”
Xia Shinan walked to the edge of the bed, her eyes distant, her tone icy. “I didn’t say anything. I merely provided the police with the necessary information.”
“You lied to me? You said you would keep my secret!” The woman sounded utterly broken.
Xia Shinan curved her lips into a sneer. “Aunt, I learned how to lie from you. How am I doing? Did I learn well?”
“You’ll regret doing this!” Xia Tong spat with hatred. “Xia Shinan, you have so many secrets. Aren’t you afraid I’ll expose all of them?”
Secrets? Her secrets were not shameful things.
Xia Shinan couldn’t understand how Xia Tong could so righteously use these matters as bargaining chips.
“Aunt, what about you? Do you regret it?” Xia Shinan asked after a silence.
Xia Tong was stunned. “The word ‘regret’ doesn’t exist in my dictionary.”
“Is that so? Well, it will eventually.”
Xia Shinan looked up, her expression growing colder. You should never, ever have harmed Tang Yin.
