Chapter 117: It Depends on How You Move, and If It’s Too Hard…
After hanging up the phone, Xia Shinan was still feeling a little low. She heard a rustling sound behind her, and when she turned around, she couldn’t help but laugh at the comical sight. Tang Yin, wearing the pink nightgown Xia Shinan had given her last night, was slowly getting out of bed and limping toward her. Just as she was about to reach Xia Shinan, she tripped over a footstool.
“Be careful!” Xia Shinan quickly caught her. “If you wanted to get up, you should have just told me. Why are you trying to be brave?”
“I was worried about you,” Tang Yin looked up at her. “Was that Xia Tong calling?”
Xia Shinan nodded, helping Tang Yin walk to the bathroom to wash up. As they went, she said, “She’s being investigated by the police and called to vent her anger on me.”
“I could tell,” Tang Yin said calmly. “Don’t be upset because of her. You have me for everything.”
“I have you?” Xia Shinan smiled faintly. “Right now, someone here needs me to brush her teeth and wash her face. What else can you do on your own?”
“I can kiss you,” Tang Yin said, raising an eyebrow. She leaned in and gently touched Xia Shinan’s lips, wanting to soothe the unhappiness in the other woman’s heart. “From now on, we should have a good morning kiss every day.”
Every day? Her work didn’t guarantee they could see each other daily, but staring into Tang Yin’s deep eyes, she couldn’t utter a single word of refusal.
“Alright. Then you need to get well quickly. I’ll take you with me when I work. Hmm… you won’t be CEO of SN anymore, you’ll be my little assistant?”
“Of course,” Tang Yin agreed instantly, without needing to think.
After the two had a simple breakfast, Xia Shinan finally received an accusatory call from Wen Juan, whose tone was very severe. Wen Juan scolded her for making decisions without prior notice, saying that no matter the reason, in the face of work, they were all excuses, not reasons!
“Xia Shinan, if you want to work hard and not rely on anyone, don’t let yesterday happen again. I often leave disobedient artists to fend for themselves. I don’t want you to be the next one!”
Xia Shinan looked apologetic. After silently listening to Wen Juan, she apologized again: “I’m sorry, Sister Juan. It was wrong of me yesterday not to inform you in advance. I’ll follow all the arrangements for future work. I promise this won’t happen again!”
Wen Juan’s tone softened slightly upon hearing her words. “Then what about what you said earlier about going to Haicheng…”
“I’m not going, I’m not going. I’ll focus on working here,” Xia Shinan said.
Wen Juan was surprised but didn’t ask further. A knocking sound seemed to come from the other end of the line, and she quickly said, “Fine, then come back to the company this afternoon.”
“Okay, okay,” Xia Shinan hung up, finally letting out a sigh of relief. She turned and saw Tang Yin sitting on the sofa, resting her hand on the armrest, propping up her chin, and staring at her.
“I’m sorry, I made you neglect your work.” Seeing her approach, Tang Yin immediately reached out her hand.
Xia Shinan held her hand and sat down next to her. “It’s fine. You’ve neglected quite a bit of work because of me too.”
Tang Yin raised an eyebrow at her words. “That’s not true. I still have Ming Jing.”
Xia Shinan laughed. “No wonder Ming Jing accused you of abusing her! You drop work at the drop of a hat, and even when you’re sick, she has to worry about you. I heard Qian Yu say she’s even got white hair!”
Tang Yin dismissed it: “She’s talking nonsense. When she was dating Qian Yu, she took time off for trips every few days and dumped all her work on me. I’d be working until sunrise while she and Qian Yu watched the sunrise. So what if I don’t go to the company for a few days now that I’m chasing my girlfriend?”
There was a story like that? Xia Shinan found it quite novel. She gently poked Tang Yin’s cheek. “Then, when you’re better, should we go watch the sunrise too?”
Tang Yin’s eyes held a subtle meaning, and she smiled faintly. “Sure.” Seeing Xia Shinan look at her with confusion, she cleared her throat and changed the subject: “Why didn’t you tell Wen Juan you skipped work to find me? If you had, you wouldn’t have been scolded so badly.”
Xia Shinan shook her head. “You know what she’s like. If she knew we were together, she probably wouldn’t treat me with an artist’s eye anymore, which would be troublesome, and I wouldn’t like it. Besides, regardless of the reason, it’s a fact that I didn’t do my job well, and it was my fault for wasting others’ time. I should take responsibility.”
Tang Yin looked stunned for a moment, then smiled. “Indeed, the person I like is always so outstanding.”
Xia Shinan said playfully, “Are you praising your own taste?”
Tang Yin kissed her hand. “I’m clearly praising you…”
“Ding ding…”
Both looked towards the door simultaneously; the doorbell was ringing.
“Strange, I didn’t order takeout, and Xiao Yi is at the company. Who could it be?” Xia Shinan muttered, getting up to open the door, but Tang Yin quickly stopped her.
“Wait! I’m coming with you.”
Seeing Tang Yin’s tightly furrowed brows, Xia Shinan instantly became nervous too. She helped Tang Yin to the door, looked through the peephole, but saw no one, and shook her head.
“Could they have pressed the wrong doorbell?” Xia Shinan couldn’t help but guess.
“Let’s hope so.” Tang Yin pursed her lips. However, Xia Tong’s morning call made her worry, so she decided to open the door and check.
She grasped the doorknob, turned it down hard, heard the lock disengage, and then pushed the door wide open. The outside was empty.
“Surprise!” Suddenly, a girl popped out from behind the door and lunged toward Tang Yin.
“Watch out!” Xia Shinan cried out. Tang Yin instinctively sidestepped. The girl missed and nearly fell to the ground. She turned to see the person she’d lunged at was Tang Yin, and her face instantly turned pale.
“CEO T-T-Tang!” Xia Shinan, standing on the other side, let out a sigh of relief.
“Ziyu, why are you here?”
It was Mu Ziyu. Xia Shinan hadn’t seen her much in the past two months due to work and had forgotten that her junior was fond of practical jokes.
Mu Ziyu gave an awkward smile, not daring to look at Tang Yin, and scurried over to Xia Shinan. “I came to find Yueyue, and, by the way… to bring CEO Tang’s phone.”
Yueyue? Zou Yue? Xia Shinan smiled faintly; that nickname made Zou Yue sound less stiff.
“I’m so sorry, CEO Tang. I thought my senior was opening the door, which is why I rushed forward. If I had known it was you, I definitely wouldn’t have played that trick!” Mu Ziyu apologized cautiously. She always felt scared whenever she saw Tang Yin.
Tang Yin felt a sense of relief; as long as it wasn’t the kind of accident she was worried about, everything was fine. She glanced at Mu Ziyu and took her phone.
“Thank you for bringing my phone. But in the future, play less of these unsafe pranks, even if it’s just Xia Shinan.”
“I know, I know,” Mu Ziyu nodded immediately. “I won’t dare to do it again!”
Xia Shinan chuckled, closing the door and inviting Mu Ziyu in. As she poured her water, she asked, “It’s okay, don’t be nervous. Did you just get off the plane? Have you seen Zou Yue yet?”
“Not yet! I missed you more, senior, so I came to find you first!” Mu Ziyu immediately smiled, holding Xia Shinan’s arm and acting spoiled. “Senior, senior, it’s been so long since we last saw each other! I missed you so much, and of course, I missed the delicious food we had last time. I came here deliberately hungry!”
Xia Shinan smiled helplessly. “I missed you too, you little glutton.”
“I’m staying in Yuncheng for a while this time. Are you free? Take me out for good food and let’s explore Yuncheng!” Mu Ziyu began planning the next few days with Xia Shinan’s involvement.
“She’s busy,” Tang Yin interrupted, listening to their conversation.
Mu Ziyu and Xia Shinan both paused and turned to look at the scowling Tang Yin.
“Did you forget you have to go back to the company this afternoon, and a shoot tomorrow? Then you’re joining a film crew, and you have a charity gala in two weeks?”
Xia Shinan was surprised; Tang Yin knew her schedule by heart. She really could be her assistant.
Mu Ziyu was bewildered. “Senior, you’re so busy now…”
Xia Shinan smiled awkwardly. “A little, but… I can still take you out for one nice meal.”
“Hooray!” Mu Ziyu said, then looked at Tang Yin again. “Well, I won’t bother you two. My mission to deliver the phone is complete, so I’ll go find Yueyue.”
Xia Shinan shook her head. “You just said you wanted to have lunch together. Stay and eat before you go. I’ll order takeout—the hotpot place you had last time.”
“Yay!” Mu Ziyu’s eyes immediately lit up.
Just as she finished speaking, Xia Shinan felt Tang Yin’s gaze on her, looking slightly unhappy. She smiled at Tang Yin, signaling her to relax.
Tang Yin acknowledged the signal and said, “Call Zou Yue over too. The four of us can eat together.”
The takeout arrived right on time. The soup base, vegetables, and meat were all portioned out, only needing to be put into the pot. Mu Ziyu went to the kitchen to help Xia Shinan prepare it. She glanced at her girlfriend in the living room, who was reporting on work to Tang Yin, before turning back to Xia Shinan.
“Senior, are you two really back together? No regrets?”
Xia Shinan didn’t answer but countered with a question for Mu Ziyu. “Do you regret being with Zou Yue?”
Mu Ziyu shook her head, a happy smile spreading across her face. “No regrets!”
Xia Shinan smiled faintly. “Me neither.”
Mu Ziyu giggled. “Even though everyone online says you match with various people, I’ve always thought CEO Tang was the best match for you. And I always had a feeling you two would get back together.”
“Why?”
“Because people who truly love each other will always reunite, no matter how many setbacks they face!”
“Hmm… that makes sense.”
While there were counterexamples, Xia Shinan believed Mu Ziyu’s words right now.
“Even though I’m still terrified of CEO Tang, I hope she’s not too vengeful… after all, I’ve offended her quite a bit in the past,” Mu Ziyu whispered.
“She won’t be. If she’s mean to you, come and tell me,” Xia Shinan said reassuringly.
Mu Ziyu playfully poked Xia Shinan’s shoulder. “Senior, it seems like CEO Tang really listens to you…”
Listens to me? Xia Shinan involuntarily looked towards Tang Yin. That person was definitely not the obedient type; her head was full of schemes, and she always acted impulsively according to her own wishes.
In the living room, Zou Yue was still reporting data, but Tang Yin felt a look directed at her. She turned and met Xia Shinan’s gaze. Just as she was about to smile, she saw Xia Shinan look away and seemed to… snort?
Tang Yin was curious. What was wrong with her?
“Oh, right. Sister Feather also specifically messaged me today to tell you something, but I didn’t quite understand it,” Mu Ziyu remembered and said.
“What is it?”
Mu Ziyu paused. “Um… she said the doctor mentioned that as long as CEO Tang doesn’t do strenuous exercise, slowly walking is fine for her leg. Um… she also said it’s not that strenuous exercise is impossible, but it depends on how you move, and if it’s really difficult, you should help her move.”
After saying this, Mu Ziyu checked if she’d missed anything, then nodded. “That’s all. It was weird… did you understand it?”
She didn’t get a response. She turned to look and saw Xia Shinan’s face was beet red.
At the same time, Tang Yin looked over at Xia Shinan in the kitchen again, seeing her flushed cheeks and slightly embarrassed eyes looking at herself.
Tang Yin: ??
What was wrong now?
