Chapter 115: Then Does the Owner Want to Bathe Me?
The water in the kitchen was boiling, making a gurgling sound. Xia Shinan gently pushed Tang Yin away, slightly out of breath. She looked up and saw Tang Yin’s slightly unsatisfied gaze.
“The water is boiling,” Xia Shinan explained.
They had kissed many times, until their lips and tongues felt numb. Then, someone’s stomach rumbled—neither of them had eaten dinner, which was why Xia Shinan had gone to boil water mid-kiss, planning to make instant noodles.
As soon as she returned and sat down, Tang Yin leaned in to continue kissing, suddenly sticking to her like superglue.
“Just one more kiss,” Tang Yin said, her lips barely moving, before latching onto Xia Shinan’s again, only to be pushed away once more.
“I’m hungry,” Xia Shinan said.
She was truly starving. She had worked since noon with only a little bread, rushed back and forth searching for Tang Yin, and hadn’t had a proper meal until now. Once she felt hungry, her stomach instantly protested.
Hearing those three words, Tang Yin immediately let go, no matter how clingy she was. “Instant noodles aren’t good for you. Or should we order takeout?”
“And takeout is good for you?” Xia Shinan asked with a smile. “Besides, instant noodles are fast. Just tell me if you want some.”
“Yes,” Tang Yin answered without thinking. “This is the first meal you’ve made for me since we got back together.”
Instant noodles count as a meal? Xia Shinan smiled and shook her head, heading to the kitchen. But since Tang Yin put it that way, Xia Shinan searched the kitchen for a long time until she found some cured sausage that Tao Yi had brought back from her hometown, and a few eggs. There were absolutely no vegetables, but even so, this was a relatively rich pot of instant noodles.
“We’ll have to make do,” Xia Shinan placed the instant noodles on the dining table and was about to help Tang Yin over when she saw her stand up.
“Actually, I’m not that serious. I’m doing exercises every day now. Walking a couple of steps is no big deal,” Tang Yin said, supporting herself on the edge of the sofa to stand up, then slowly walked over.
Xia Shinan couldn’t help but smile at her movements. “So this is the confidence that made you sneak out of the hospital?”
Tang Yin awkwardly rubbed her nose. “I was wrong.”
Xia Shinan placed the bowls and chopsticks in front of her. “You should apologize to Ming Jing.”
“Okay, I’ll call her tomorrow to apologize,” Tang Yin said without hesitation. But she didn’t regret the impulsive decision at all, even feeling lucky that she had done it.
Seeing the smile on Tang Yin’s lips, Xia Shinan felt she didn’t truly believe she had done anything wrong, and she shook her head with a resigned smile.
Perhaps they were genuinely hungry; the pot of instant noodles was devoured completely.
Full and satisfied after a day of running around, Xia Shinan couldn’t help but yawn as soon as she put down her chopsticks.
“You rest, I’ll clean up,” Tang Yin offered, only to be met with a skeptical look.
“It’s just washing dishes, what’s the big deal?” Tang Yin supported herself on the dining table to stand up. “Only my leg is hurt; my hands are fine.”
“You’re right, but a normal person wouldn’t let a patient do the chores,” Xia Shinan said, quickly collecting the dishes, turning on the faucet, and starting to wash them.
Watching Xia Shinan’s figure, a warmth spread through Tang Yin’s body. She couldn’t help but pinch herself. The pain confirmed that none of this was a dream.
Xia Shinan soon emerged from the kitchen, seeing Tang Yin still standing by the dining table, staring at her motionlessly.
“Didn’t I tell you to rest?”
“I am resting,” Tang Yin said with a smile, reaching out to hold Xia Shinan’s hand.
“Clingy,” Xia Shinan frowned slightly, then said, “Tang Yin, I feel like you’re like a puppy, so clingy.”
This was the first time Tang Yin had heard such a description. “Is that so?”
As she spoke, she pulled Xia Shinan close, lowering her head to lightly rub against her neck. The hot breath made the person in her arms ticklish.
“Does this make me more like one?”
Xia Shinan lightly smacked her playfully but was hugged even tighter, as if she were about to melt into the other’s body. She closed her eyes, her palm resting gently on Tang Yin’s back, enjoying the moment of intimacy.
At eleven o’clock at night, listening to the soft sound of water splashing in the bathroom, Xia Shinan guiltily watched the TV, her cheeks flushed.
Half an hour ago, Tang Yin had whispered to her about how inconvenient it was to stay alone in a hotel. After some coaxing, Xia Shinan agreed to let Tang Yin stay the night here.
She then happened to catch a flash of a cunning smile on Tang Yin’s lips. Before she could react, the other woman announced she was going to take a shower.
Xia Shinan had no choice. She pressed her lips together and grunted softly, then went to the bathroom to prepare toiletries for Tang Yin.
“I’ve hung the towel for you. The shampoo and body wash are on the shelf. Wear this bathrobe after you dry yourself. Call me if you need anything,” she said, stern-faced, preparing to leave and give Tang Yin privacy, but she was grabbed.
“Are you angry?” Tang Yin observed her expression with lowered eyes.
“You smiled just now,” Xia Shinan said.
“Today is our first day back together. Should I cry instead of smile?” Tang Yin said, a smile reappearing. “Shinan, I want to be with you all the time. I don’t want to go to a hotel and be alone, thinking about you constantly.”
Even a heart of steel would soften hearing Tang Yin say such things, let alone Xia Shinan, who wasn’t really angry. She pursed her lips, feeling the warmth in her cheeks, and spoke:
“It’s true what I said, you’re a dog. Hurry up and take your shower!”
“Mhm…” Tang Yin’s eyes fixed on Xia Shinan’s face. She couldn’t help but ask, “Then does the owner want to bathe me?”
In an instant, Xia Shinan’s breath hitched, and her heart pounded wildly.
She glared at Tang Yin, stammering, “Y-you… bathe yourself!”
With that, she shook off Tang Yin’s hand and walked out of the bathroom.
Tang Yin couldn’t help but chuckle softly, then closed the bathroom door and started her shower.
Xia Shinan, sitting on the sofa, felt herself heating up steadily. She even wondered if she had set the air conditioner incorrectly. Where did Tang Yin learn all this?
Her phone, which she couldn’t remember where she had dropped it, suddenly vibrated, interrupting Xia Shinan’s thoughts. She got up, followed the sound, found the phone, and answered the call from Ming Jing.
“Are you with Tang Yin? Zou Yue just told me the truth—Tang Yin never went to the hotel!” Ming Jing said anxiously.
“She’s with me. I’m sorry, I forgot to tell you,” Xia Shinan apologized awkwardly. “She seems quite well now, don’t worry.”
Well was an understatement; she was practically high on life.
“Alright then.” Ming Jing sighed in relief. With the burden finally lifted, she started ranting again.
Xia Shinan listened with a smile. Only when Ming Jing was mostly done did she say, “Ming Jing, don’t curse too fiercely in front of Tang Yin’s girlfriend.”
“What girlfriend…” Ming Jing paused for two seconds. “You two are together?!”
“Mhm,” Xia Shinan smiled softly. “We’re together.”
“Ahhhhhhh!” The usually steady Ming Jing screamed, sounding as if she had been assimilated by Qian Yu. Then, Xia Shinan heard her shout, “Wifey, wifey! Xia Shinan and Tang Yin are together!”
“What?! Ahhhhhhh! I need to talk to Shinan, give me the phone!” Qian Yu heard and started screaming too. Grabbing the phone, she asked, “Shinan, are you really together?”
“Mhm, really.” Xia Shinan was confused why this couple was more excited than she was, but her own mouth was curved into a smile as she repeated, “Tang Yin and I are together.”
“Ahhhhh!” Qian Yu was ecstatic. After the initial excitement, a hint of a sob entered her voice. “I support every decision you make! I’m happy as long as you’re happy!”
“Thank you, Little Feather.” Xia Shinan thanked her, tears welling up in her eyes upon hearing her friend’s blessing.
“So… you’ve let go of all the past stuff?” Qian Yu asked cautiously.
“It’s not that I’ve let go, but I suddenly realized that the person in front of me is more important than those things,” Xia Shinan glanced towards the bathroom, where the light shining through the double-layered frosted glass door created a soft glow. She smiled and said, “I don’t know whether tomorrow or an accident will come first, but I hope to have my lover and friends today.”
Qian Yu started crying. “Why are you talking so sadly? We’re all going to be fine.”
“You’re right! We’re all going to be happy,” Xia Shinan said with a smile. “We’ll all have our best endings.”
Ming Jing, wiping Qian Yu’s tears, asked Xia Shinan, “What about Tang Yin? Let her talk! She successfully chased you despite her broken leg. Shouldn’t she make a statement?”
“She’s showering,” Xia Shinan answered without thinking.
But after she spoke, the other side fell silent. After a while, Ming Jing hesitantly asked, “Can she… manage right now?”
Xia Shinan didn’t immediately understand. “It’s been so many days, she should be fine, right?”
She had asked Tang Yin earlier, and the doctor said she could now get wet and shower.
Qian Yu also stopped crying, letting out a sharp “hiss” and clearing her throat. “Shinan, don’t be too indulgent. She hasn’t recovered yet…”
Xia Shinan paused, finally understanding what they were implying.
“What are you two married people thinking about every day! I’m not that desperate!”
Qian Yu clicked her tongue. “You might not be desperate, but that doesn’t mean Tang Yin isn’t…”
Before she could finish, Xia Shinan couldn’t listen anymore and hung up the phone. Proximity breeds contamination! Spending too much time with Ming Jing had made her mouth annoying too!
Just then, the sound of water in the bathroom stopped. Not long after, Tang Yin, wearing a loose bathrobe, stood by the door.
“Shinan, I’m done. Can you lead me out? The bathroom floor is slippery, and I’m afraid of falling.”
This request was impossible for Xia Shinan to refuse. Even though her heart was still unsettled, she immediately walked over.
“Didn’t I get you non-slip slippers…” She stepped into the bathroom, only to freeze at the sight before her.
Tang Yin’s bathrobe was loose and slightly open at the neckline, drawing attention to the slender, beautiful lines of her collarbone. The glimpse of darker skin beneath the collarbone, and the obscured area below, instantly made her heart race again.
Blinking, Xia Shinan finally shifted her gaze to Tang Yin’s face. Her hair hadn’t been dried and lay wetly on her shoulders. Her bangs, now longer, covered her right eye, making her look somewhat like the Tang Yin of five years ago.
“Ahem… let’s go.” Xia Shinan forced herself to stop thinking nonsense. She reached out to take Tang Yin’s hand, only to have the other woman wrap her arms around her waist the next second, her voice whispering in her ear.
“The way you looked at my eyes just now was lustful.”
Xia Shinan felt guilty. “I did not!”
Tang Yin leaned her face closer, reaching out to touch Xia Shinan’s lips. “Where do you want to look? Should I take it off for you?”
