Your Boyfriend is Great! He's Mine Now - Chapter 28
“Swallow?”
The name Su Chen blurted out caused the driver, Chen Yanzhi, and Qin Yuze to fall into silence.
Qin Yuze blinked in confusion and asked with a hint of disbelief, “You two know each other?”
After all, one wouldn’t dare address a stranger by such a nickname, one so intimate it bordered on the uncanny.
Su Chen replied unabashedly, “Yeah, we know each other. Didn’t we play ‘Truth or Dare’ at the bar last time? I went to him to ask for his number. Don’t you remember?”
Qin Yuze recalled it; it did seem like something like that had happened. However, at the time, he had only seen the man’s back and never imagined that person would be the young master of the Chen family. Moreover, Chen Yanzhi’s presence was not something he had anticipated.
But with more pressing matters at hand, he immediately extended his hand. “Young Master Chen, it is a pleasure to meet you.”
Chen Yanzhi shook his hand, responding politely, “Am I intruding?”
“Your presence is an honor, Young Master Chen. I couldn’t be happier that you’re here.”
Chen Yanzhi gave a slight nod before extending his hand toward Su Chen.
Su Chen finally reacted, looking surprised. “The Chen family from Huanyu Real Estate?”
“Mn.”
“Damn, buddy, you should’ve said so earlier.” Su Chen was quite delighted and happily shook his hand. “Pleasure to meet you. I’m Su Chen.”
Chen Yanzhi stared at his dimples. “Understood, Mengmeng.”
“…It’s ‘Meng’ for ‘tough guy’.” (Note: Su Chen’s name includes ‘Chen’, but he is referring to his nickname ‘Meng’.)
“Understood, Mengmeng.”
Su Chen choked for a second, then shrugged, resigned to his fate. “Fine, whatever, ‘Swallow’.”
Chen Yanzhi let out a subtle, nearly imperceptible smile.
Qin Yuze watched their interaction, feeling incredibly bewildered. Wasn’t it rumored that the young master of the Chen family was unapproachable? Wasn’t he supposed to be cold and arrogant? Socialites like them were different from doers like Chen Yanzhi, and they didn’t typically run in the same circles. He had only seen him a few times at banquets, and while they had contact information, they never actually reached out. It seemed the rumors were somewhat false; he was perfectly easygoing and even knew how to joke.
Another car pulled up ahead, and a tall, slender man stepped out from the backseat.
Qin Yuze stepped forward to greet him. “Shen-ge is here.”
Shen Xubai smiled faintly. “Apologies, I’m late.”
Before the words had even left his lips, Su Chen had reached Shen Xubai’s side in the blink of an eye. “Shen-ge, you’re finally here! I’ve been waiting for you for so long.”
“I was delayed on the road for a bit.”
Qin Yuze was used to Su Chen’s behavior and was just about to make a joke when he spotted the man walking up from behind the car. His face went blank with shock. “Gu-shao!?”
The shout drew everyone’s attention. Gu Linyuan didn’t walk over until he had handed their luggage to the staff. He approached lazily with his signature smile. “Qin-shao, hello.”
Qin Yuze instinctively ignored the palm print on the man’s face and reached out his hand. “Hello, hello. I’m truly surprised that you were able to make it, Gu-shao.”
Su Chen’s eyes darted back and forth between the two of them. “Shen-ge, did you and Gu-shao carpool together?”
“…” “…”
Shen Xubai didn’t understand his train of thought. He was about to explain when he heard a light chuckle from behind him. Everyone turned their attention back.
Chen Yanzhi stepped forward, standing before Shen Xubai and extending his hand. “Chen Yanzhi.”
Shen Xubai suddenly realized: this was the same Chen Yanzhi who had greeted him with “Are you dead yet?” Gu Linyuan’s friend.
“Hello, I’m Shen Xubai.”
Su Chen was completely baffled. Before he could process Shen Xubai and Gu Linyuan arriving in the same car, another oddity occurred. Chen Yanzhi had taken the initiative to greet Shen Xubai, and judging by their attitude, they knew each other? How did he not know about this?
As they exchanged pleasantries, Su Chen sent a flurry of facial expressions toward Qin Yuze: What’s going on? Why does my Shen-ge know Gu-shao?
Qin Yuze responded with twitching facial features: How would I know?
Su: Wasn’t he invited by you?
Qin: Although that’s true, I’m just as confused as you are!
Su Chen blinked in doubt. Qin Yuze blinked back: You can ask.
Su Chen gave him a “why didn’t you say so earlier” look and leaned eagerly toward Shen Xubai, completely unaware that he had already been locked onto.
“Shen-ge, you and Gu-shao know each other?”
Shen Xubai downplayed it. “He’s a client. We bumped into each other in Haicheng.”
Su Chen realized. “Oh, then why did you two take a taxi here?”
“His car had his assistant drive it back from Haicheng to Jiangcheng; it’s still on the road.”
Su Chen was even more confused. “He only has one car?”
That wasn’t true Shen Xubai had seen two already. But he also didn’t understand why Gu Linyuan hadn’t called a driver to wait at the airport in advance, choosing instead to take a taxi to the resort.
“Why don’t you go ask him?”
“I wouldn’t dare.” Su Chen replied instinctively. He looked toward the trio, only to find Gu Linyuan watching him as well. The gentleness on the man’s face had vanished, replaced by a sinister, chilling gloom. It was a look completely brimming with malice.
Su Chen froze instantly. When he blinked and looked again, he saw the man listening to Qin Yuze, a carefree smile on his face.
?
I must have seen it wrong. After all, we have no grudges.
“Shen-ge, why is your voice so nasal? Did you catch a cold?”
“A little.”
“I’ll have Yuze get some cold medicine for you later. Even if it’s not serious, it recovers very slowly without medicine.”
“No need, I’ve already taken some.”
Su Chen assumed he was lying; Shen Xubai never took medicine for a small cold, always toughing it out. “I’ll have him get some granules for you; they aren’t bitter.”
The creamy sweetness of the White Rabbit candy seemed to linger on his taste buds. Shen Xubai’s Adam’s apple rolled, and he suddenly recalled the sensation of rough fingers brushing against his lips. He scanned the area nonchalantly, and before he could look away, he was precisely locked onto.
…
Does Gu Linyuan have a radar installed in his eyes?
The man smiled at him with eager eyes. Shen Xubai withdrew his gaze rapidly, his expression cold. Gu Linyuan didn’t mind; the arch of his eyebrows deepened into a sharp arc, his smile intensifying.
The rooms had already been arranged wooden beds, chairs, and tables in an antique style that was quite atmospheric, while the air conditioning and bathing facilities were modern, allowing guests to enjoy novelty without compromising convenience. Shen Xubai chose a room on the ground floor. Pulling back the curtains revealed a courtyard where artificial rocks, flowing water, and flowers created a beautiful scene.
Gu Linyuan chose the room right next to him.
With all the good ground-floor rooms taken, Qin Yuze was in a bind. He hesitated as he asked, “Does Chen-shao prefer quiet or activity?”
“Quiet. I prefer higher floors.”
Qin Yuze breathed a sigh of relief and hurriedly had someone take Chen Yanzhi upstairs.
After all the hustle and bustle, Qin Yuze hadn’t even had a chance to drink a sip of water before he was intercepted by Su Chen.
“I remember you have a first-aid kit.”
Qin Yuze thought about it. “I think so. Why?”
“Shen-ge has a cold. Do you have any cold medicine granules?”
“Tsk, I don’t know. I’ve been busy greeting everyone here, thirsty and tired, and I haven’t seen you care about me once.”
“If you can’t lead a team, you’ll just work yourself to death.”
Though Su Chen’s words were filled with unreserved mockery, his hands were quite sensible.
“Drink.”
It was his favorite grape juice. Qin Yuze drank it all down reluctantly before slowly sliding the room card over. “Go find it yourself; I don’t want to move anymore.”
“Rest well, boss, don’t miss out on the fun tonight.”
“Get lost.”
