Your Boyfriend is Great! He's Mine Now - Chapter 27
“Ah?”
As the exclamation escaped his lips, a milky-white White Rabbit creamy candy slid past his lips and into his mouth. The rich, fragrant sweetness immediately dispelled the bitterness on his tongue. Only after the sugary water had slid down his throat did he find his voice. “Where did you get this candy?”
“I bought it a while ago.”
A grown man carrying around this kind of candy Shen Xubai didn’t understand it, but he respected it.
“I need to reiterate one thing.”
Gu Linyuan sat up straighter. “Go ahead.”
“What happened last night was an accident. It doesn’t mean anything. You should understand that.”
Gu Linyuan feigned ignorance. “Did something happen last night?”
Strictly speaking, nothing had happened, but it felt like something had. Shen Xubai felt this was a matter difficult to express clearly in words, and that both of them should tacitly sweep it under the rug.
Gu Linyuan acted as if he had just remembered, his face full of amusement. “Does Senior mean the matter of us holding hands and hugging?”
Holding hands? Hugging?
Shen Xubai was left speechless.
Gu Linyuan, however, was very understanding. “I know Senior is just kind-hearted. If it were someone else, I’m sure they would have received the same comfort from you. It doesn’t mean Senior likes me. I understand.”
Someone else… The same comfort…
Shen Xubai’s brow furrowed slightly. “Your actions just now were excessive. Don’t do that again.”
“Does Senior mean I can’t break medicine for you, or pour you water?”
“Neither is allowed.”
“So, feeding you a creamy candy is okay, right?”
“No.”
“Is it even forbidden if my fingers don’t touch your lips?”
Shen Xubai had reached the end of his patience, staring at him coldly. “It is forbidden.”
His nasal voice was so thick that it lacked any sense of intimidation; it sounded more like he was acting spoiled. Gu Linyuan wanted nothing more than to knead the man into a ball, small enough to keep in his pocket and take everywhere he went. But if he said that out loud, Senior would surely get angry again.
Gu Linyuan could only think it to himself. Meeting Shen Xubai’s oppressive gaze, he let out a melancholy sigh. “Fine, whatever Senior says goes.”
Shen Xubai felt his ears burning, so he simply closed his eyes to rest.
When they arrived in Jiangcheng, it was lunchtime. Unable to stomach the airplane food, Gu Linyuan found a Cantonese restaurant and ordered some light dishes. After finishing their meal, they took a taxi to the resort.
It was nap time, and since Shen Xubai had taken his medicine, he felt a bit drowsy. But he had already slept on the plane, and falling asleep now would be impolite. He forced himself to stay alert. “President Gu, since the ride is boring, why don’t we discuss the proposal?”
Gu Linyuan glanced at him, feeling speechless. “It’s my time off now. We aren’t discussing work.”
“Alright.”
Gu Linyuan grew interested. “Senior, am I your most difficult client?”
“No.”
That was the truth. Gu Linyuan, at most, liked to act shamelessly with his words; otherwise, he really hadn’t been any trouble. He had dealt with plenty of difficult clients.
“Then tell me, Senior, what are those clients who are even more difficult than me like? What exactly makes them hard to deal with?”
Fragments of memories flashed through his mind. Shen Xubai said faintly, “There’s nothing to say.”
Gu Linyuan wanted to keep chatting, but seeing the weariness between Shen Xubai’s brows, he decided to let it go for now. “Forget it then if you don’t want to talk. Take a nap, Senior. I’ll wake you when we arrive.”
He lingered for a second on the palm print on Gu Linyuan’s cheek. “You didn’t apply any ointment?”
Gu Linyuan touched his face. Remembering something, he gave a brazen, cheeky smile. “It’s fine. This is a medal.”
“…”
A medal for being a degenerate?
Shen Xubai couldn’t comprehend it at all and had no intention of discussing it further, so he simply closed his eyes.
Just as he was about to lose consciousness, a faint, dark sandalwood scent swept across the tip of his nose. Rough fingers brushed against his cheek, and then he leaned against a soft, silky shirt. The scent of a man in his nasal cavity grew stronger.
His breathing stopped for a beat. Without giving him any time to adapt to this change, warm breathing and an affectionate murmur came from above his head.
“Senior…”
He called “Senior” in a way that was layered with complexity lingering and affectionate, as if he had rehearsed it a thousand times under his breath. Shen Xubai was left tingling from the scalp down by that nearly whispered “Senior.”
Shen Xubai suddenly felt that Gu Linyuan really seemed to like him. But when exactly had he started liking him? He didn’t have the slightest impression. They had only met a few times, and they weren’t particularly pleasant meetings. He began to think back earnestly, completely forgetting the option that he could simply “wake up” now.
While some enjoyed a quiet, peaceful life, others were busy shouldering heavy burdens. Su Chen stared angrily at the backs of Xiao Yu and Lin Jinghe, frowning as he demanded, “Why are they here?!”
Qin Yuze was helpless. “I don’t know. They probably heard about it from someone else.”
“So annoying! Did he find out Shen-ge was coming today and bring that little bitch along on purpose to disgust people?”
Qin Yuze didn’t think Xiao Yu would be so petty. “It shouldn’t be that serious. They’re both grown men; breaking up is just breaking up, it’s not like they have to be mortal enemies forever.”
Su Chen thought for a moment, but still felt it was inappropriate. “No, you have to kick him out. Shen-ge definitely won’t be happy to see him.”
Qin Yuze hesitated, staying silent. Su Chen glared at him for a while, his expression softening. “Fine, forget it.”
Of course, he knew he couldn’t do that; he was just venting his frustration because he was unhappy. Qin Yuze wrapped an arm around his shoulders. “Maybe Shen-ge won’t feel anything at all when he sees him?”
“How is that possible? Shen-ge is so sentimental.”
Qin Yuze tried to guide him. “Think about it this way: with so many friends here today, maybe Shen-ge will find a second spring. If Shen-ge finds someone new, won’t Xiao Yu regret it so much he’ll be punching the wall?” After all, plenty of people had been interested in Shen Xubai, but had been suppressed by Xiao Yu all these years.
Su Chen’s eyes lit up. “That makes sense.”
“Right? Avoidance won’t solve the problem; facing the past head-on is the best solution.”
“You’re right.”
Su Chen was quickly coaxed. “Let’s go, let’s go. Shen-ge said he’s almost here, let’s go pick him up.”
Qin Yuze was helpless. “I’ve already arranged for someone at the entrance; Shen-ge won’t get lost.”
“That’s not the same.”
Qin Yuze couldn’t help but retort, “Are you sure you don’t like men? Let me tell you, I’m iron-straight; I’m not going to yield to you.” He even acted out covering his chest, looking as if he were terrified of being teased by a filthy man.
Seeing his exaggerated, affected performance, Su Chen gave a dramatic “blech.” “You’re so disgusting. Even if I turned gay, the first one I’d chase is Shen-ge, so you can rest easy.”
“That’s true. You scared the hell out of me, my innocence is saved.”
Su Chen gave him a sidelong glance. “Stop being gross. Are we going or not?”
“Yes, yes, your highness! This servant is clearing the path for you!”
“Hehehe, where did you study your butt-kissing skills? They’re truly transcendent.”
Qin Yuze raised his foot to kick him. “Get lost, you’re annoying as hell all day long.”
The two were bickering and fighting along the way. In order to dodge a kick, Su Chen carelessly bumped into a solid wall.
“Watch where you’re walking.”
? The wall spoke?
