You Are the Star I Cannot Touch - Chapter 21
Chapter 21: You Are Mine
She remained silent, watching her. Even with the heartbreak in her eyes, Gong Yutong’s gaze held no pity, remaining utterly cold.
Her not answering was the best answer. She didn’t love her. Ten years, every time she asked, she either said no or stayed silent.
“Since you don’t love me, what does my life and death have to do with you?” She laughed self-mockingly. “Gong Yutong, if I die, will you be a little sad? No, you won’t. Perhaps you should be happy. No one will pester you anymore, and you won’t be bothered. You should be happy. For ten years, I kept thinking, just wait a little longer, and maybe you would fall in love with me. I waited for ten years. Perhaps soon you won’t have to see me anymore, and I won’t bother you. Wouldn’t you be very happy?” She leaned in and kissed her, just a simple kiss. “Perhaps this is the last time I will kiss you.” She got up and left.
Chi Yue had a bad feeling and chased after her. She was afraid she might commit suicide. In the end, she followed her home. She didn’t do anything, just slept. Chi Yue simply shared the bed with her.
Gong Yutong saw Mu Yan at work but didn’t say anything. Mu Yan also maintained a businesslike demeanor and didn’t pester her. After work, Gong Yutong came out and was stopped by Jiang Huaiye.
She didn’t want to fight, or he would certainly notice her injury. She got into his car.
Mu Yan watched the car she was in drive away. Perhaps it was the last time she would see her. She went back to prepare. She didn’t know why the employer had moved the schedule up to tonight.
The restaurant Jiang Huaiye chose was luxuriously decorated, and the food inside was naturally top-notch, not to mention the price. And the restaurant was quiet.
“President Gong, I haven’t seen you in a few days, and your hand is injured.”
Gong Yutong looked at her bandaged hand. “Young Master Jiang is cautious his whole life.”
“To err is human, to stumble is expected. President Gong, please order whatever you like.” He handed her the menu.
Gong Yutong took it and opened it, but the sound of her phone ringing interrupted her. She answered, and the person on the other end only said a few words. “Good.” She hung up. “Young Master Jiang, please excuse me. I’ll treat you another day.” She left.
Jiang Huaiye wanted to curse. He finally found an opportunity, but how could… which bastard called at this moment? But since she invited him, it still meant a chance to interact.
Mu Yan killed the person she was hired to kill, but she was also seriously injured. She could barely see now. She knew she wasn’t going to live this time. When she took the job, she knew she might not return. She had prepared for this. She was determined to get the one billion yuan. Even if she died, she had instructed someone to use the money to buy gifts for Gong Yutong on May 20th, as a final present. If she lived, she would give it herself. The necklace was originally meant to be given to her when she finally agreed to be with her, but she was afraid she wouldn’t live to see that day. She was also afraid Gong Yutong would end up with someone else, so giving it early was better than not being able to give it at all.
Her vision grew blurrier. In this moment, she suddenly felt relieved. Was it good to die in the year she loved her the most?
To die in the year she had kissed her and touched her—especially recently—she felt quite satisfied. To die with this small hope wasn’t bad.
If she died, would Gong Yutong really not be sad?
Would she get together with Jiang Huaiye and have children?
No. She can’t be with him. She belongs to me.
Her eyelids felt heavier and heavier. She felt so dizzy. She thought back to the first time she saw her.
She was wearing a white dress, her expression cold and distant.
Why was there such a beautiful person in the world, someone so captivating and mesmerizing? Why did she have such cold eyes at such a young age? Why was she so frigid? What had she been through? Was it similar to her own experience? No, she was unwanted, but Gong Yutong should have someone who wanted her.
No, she can’t die. She hasn’t married her yet. She absolutely cannot die. She can only be hers, not anyone else’s. Not even in death.
She is her goddess. She must protect her goddess. She cannot die. She still needs to protect her.
Her vision slowly refocused, and she looked at the people surrounding her. She must kill them. They must die. Her eyes turned blood-red. She had to kill them. She had to go back. Before she could move, there were several screams, and they all fell to the ground.
Mu Yan hadn’t even reacted when a familiar scent reached her—a fragrance she had known for ten years. She was intimately familiar with this scent. She’s here. She actually came! She looked with delight at the appearance of Gong Yutong. She was like a light, walking toward her step by step. She was so radiant, her salvation, her whole life. How could she die? She should live well to be with her. She was wrong. She shouldn’t have left her. She took a few steps and rushed into her arms, crying.
Why was she crying? She didn’t know. Every time she dove into her arms, she wanted to cry. Perhaps it was grievance, perhaps it was unrequited love.
Gong Yutong picked her up.
“You’re injured! Why did you come? Let go of me!” Mu Yan started struggling. “Put me down! You’ll die! Leave me! Go!”
“If you struggle any more, my injury will reopen.” She looked at the people surging toward them from all directions. It seemed this was a trap designed to kill her.
Mu Yan was terrified and just hugged her, not knowing what to do. She looked at the growing crowd. “You… you can’t defeat them! There are too many! You leave!”
“I can’t?” Gong Yutong held her securely, still managing to free one hand to pinch her butt. “Watch me.”
Mu Yan: “…I… I didn’t mean that! You definitely can, but with so many people, and with you carrying me, it really… Ouch, you can do it!”
How can she be so calm in a life-or-death situation? If she were nervous, she wouldn’t be Gong Yutong. She took a pill herself to stop the bleeding, just in case she died after being carried out.
“Now you know to value your life,” she said playfully.
“I…” Mu Yan hugged her tightly, planting a kiss on her. “If I die, no one will bother you anymore. I can’t die. I can’t let you belong to anyone else. You are mine.” She didn’t forget to hold her even tighter.
“Can you two please focus?” Chi Yue roared. They were surrounded, yet they were so calm. Or rather, Gong Yutong was incredibly calm. Chi Yue couldn’t reach them, but how did Gong Yutong know about this and how did she know Mu Yan was here? It took her a long time to find this place. Why would she come to save her when she was so seriously injured? Damn it, this Gong Yutong is truly baffling.
Gong Yutong watched them approach. She held Mu Yan with one arm, and the flying knives in her other hand moved incredibly fast. They didn’t even have a chance to get close to her. Fast, ruthless, and precise—one stab to the death.
“I wanted to see a battered Gong Yutong!” Tang Xiaowan excitedly dragged Gu Xi Zhi over, only to see Gong Yutong fighting. “Holy sh*t… Killing people while carrying someone, and looking so relaxed! So hot! My god, she’s so handsome when she fights, so beautiful! I never thought so before! Xi Zhi, look at her backflip! It’s absolutely stunning!”
Gu Xi Zhi massaged her forehead. This person is sick.
Chi Yue was also somewhat stunned. She dealt with them so easily and freely, and she even looked elegant and beautiful while fighting. No wonder Mu Yan was so captivated by her. In the darkness, she was truly stunning. There were no words left to describe her.
“Xi Zhi, did Gong Yutong call us here to watch her show off, or to watch her save the damsel in distress?”
Gu Xi Zhi couldn’t take it anymore and kicked Tang Xiaowan: “She’s injured! Do you know how to help?”
“I’m injured too,” Tang Xiaowan complained pitifully.
“You deserve to be injured,” she wanted to hit someone.
“How do I deserve it? Can’t you even care about me?”
“I…” Gu Xi Zhi nearly cursed. She held back and finally said, “You go help, and I’ll deal with this situation.”
“I’m not going. She can handle it.”
“Do you believe I’ll send you to the hospital to stay for a while?”
“I’ll go, I’ll go! Why are you so fierce? You only care about your Yutong!” Tang Xiaowan complained but immediately went toward Gong Yutong.
Gu Xi Zhi instructed her people to handle the aftermath. With so many people dead, how could there not be an incident? And this clearly looked like a trap. She had already sent people to investigate.
