You Are My Omega - Chapter 97
“Sister, let’s go back in the next few days.”
Xu Shijiu wasn’t asking for her sister’s opinion. It was simply a decision she had made, because she knew her sister would agree.
“Alright,” Xu Manyue answered without hesitation. It was about time they returned.
Today, the atmosphere between Lin Xinyi and Xu Shijiu had clearly improved. Xu Shijiu no longer tried to hide her concern and care. Throughout the meal, she kept picking dishes for Lin Xinyi. The two of them no longer needed the meddling of her and Liu Lingyan.
The production crew had already returned to their company two days ago, taking all the recording equipment with them. All the recorded video materials had been retrieved and carefully checked by the team Xu Shijiu had assigned. Everything was collected, and the promised payment had been fulfilled.
For the crew, this job had been incredibly easy. They earned a large sum of money with minimal effort.
After a bit of packing, Xu Shijiu and the others boarded their flight home.
Before boarding, Xu Shijiu had been worried that Lin Xinyi might get airsick or feel discomfort due to the baby. Fortunately, that didn’t happen. Lin Xinyi leaned against Xu Shijiu’s shoulder and fell into a peaceful sleep.
Since Lin Xinyi was fine, Xu Shijiu finally felt relieved. Because it was the Xu family’s private jet and everyone onboard was family, there was a sense of security and comfort. Xu Shijiu unknowingly fell asleep too.
Xu Manyue and Liu Lingyan had been observing the two of them the whole time. When they saw both of them asleep, Xu Manyue got up first, walked over, gently covered them with blankets, then returned to her seat.
“Their issues seem to be resolved now,” Liu Lingyan said, watching them sleep side by side. The sight was heartwarming.
“At least they’re not arguing anymore,” Xu Manyue said with satisfaction.
Now that there was a baby, the issues between Xu Shijiu and Lin Xinyi no longer seemed like real problems.
“A few days ago, Shijiu was still consulting me about Omega pregnancy issues. Xinyi’s emotions seemed really unstable, and Shijiu was quite worried.”
“Once we’re back, we’ll find a psychologist for both of them. That’s one of the reasons Shijiu insisted on coming home.”
Living freely had been such a rare luxury, especially for people like them who were always in the public eye. If it weren’t for concerns about Lin Xinyi’s health, Xu Manyue believed Xu Shijiu would have stayed there a while longer.
Liu Lingyan had many things she wanted to say to Xu Manyue, but every time she tried to bring something up, Xu Manyue would casually divert the topic with a few light words, stopping her short.
After getting off the plane, just before Xu Manyue got into the car, Liu Lingyan grabbed her sleeve.
“What is it?” Xu Manyue turned to ask. Her eyes, hidden behind dark sunglasses, revealed no emotion.
They were all wearing masks and sunglasses as a disguise, but staying in public too long might still attract unwanted attention.
“Do you want to… visit Fuan?” Liu Lingyan could only use their daughter as an excuse.
Xu Manyue paused for a moment, then shook her head.
“It’s fine. I feel at ease knowing she has you to take care of her.”
“I see…”
Liu Lingyan let go of her hand. As Xu Manyue turned away, she quickly called out, “Don’t forget to take your medicine.”
“I know.”
Xu Manyue responded quietly. Even without Liu Lingyan by her side, she would remember.
She thought their brief reunion over the past half month wouldn’t change much. She believed she would soon return to life as it was before, when Liu Lingyan wasn’t around. But reality proved otherwise.
Her own state of mind had become so unstable that even she couldn’t bear to look at herself. Not to mention the constant teasing from Xu Shijiu and Lingmian.
“Sister, staying cooped up at home isn’t good for you. Why don’t you go back to work at the Xu Corporation? Now that Father has gone abroad again, there’s no acting CEO. You wouldn’t even need to handle the work personally. Just signing the documents would be enough, and it wouldn’t be too tiring.”
Xu Shijiu was worried about her sister’s current state. Previously, her sister had helped find a psychologist for her and Lin Xinyi, but in her opinion, it was Xu Manyue who now needed help the most.
“Stop trying to trick me into working. I’m telling you right now, it’s not happening,” Xu Manyue refused flatly. Then, noticing the anxious look on Xu Shijiu’s face, she added, “Just go. I can see your heart is already with Lin Xinyi.”
Xu Shijiu gave a shy smile.
“We have a prenatal checkup today.”
“When will Xinyi move back in? It’s too quiet with just the two of us here. If she comes back, you won’t have to run around every day. Also, don’t forget to get your marriage certificate. You’ll need it for everything once the baby is born.”
“And your wedding too…”
“I got it, Sister. I’m going now.”
Xu Shijiu didn’t wait to hear the rest of her sister’s heartfelt speech. She seriously suspected her sister was entering menopause, considering how nagging she had become lately.
Still, despite the nagging, her sister was right. These were all things they needed to take care of soon.
Xu Manyue watched her leave and sighed helplessly. Ever since they had reconciled, Xu Shijiu’s energy had returned.
Lin Xinyi and Xu Shijiu had disguised themselves well. The hospital was private, and everything went smoothly without drawing any attention.
The test results showed that both the mother and the baby were healthy.
Back in the car, Xu Shijiu stared at the ultrasound report for a long time.
“What are you looking at?” Lin Xinyi hooked her pinky around Xu Shijiu’s.
“I’m just…” Xu Shijiu placed the ultrasound photo between them. “I can’t tell where the baby is.”
Lin Xinyi chuckled helplessly.
“The baby’s still tiny, just an embryo right now. It’s way too early to see anything clearly.”
She had thought Xu Shijiu was worried about something serious.
“You’re not feeling unwell, are you?” Xu Shijiu asked with concern. “The doctor said some people feel discomfort during these tests. Are you okay?”
“I’m fine. Don’t worry.” Lin Xinyi shook her head but kept her eyes fixed on Xu Shijiu.
Xu Shijiu fell silent.
After a moment, she opened her arms, and Lin Xinyi happily leaned into her embrace.
What made Xu Shijiu’s heart ache the most was how quiet Lin Xinyi was. When her emotions were affected, she never made a scene. Even when she wanted a hug, she never said it aloud.
“Dummy…” Xu Shijiu whispered softly.
“I’m not a dummy,” Lin Xinyi quickly protested.
“If you want me to hold you, just say so,” Xu Shijiu said gently. Her voice was filled with affection and helplessness.
Lin Xinyi sat obediently in her arms, not saying a word. Xu Shijiu enjoyed this quiet dependence from her. She asked, “I need to stop by the office for a bit. Do you want to come with me?”
“Can I?” Lin Xinyi’s eyes lit up instantly.
To her, being invited to the company meant something very special.
“Of course you can.” Xu Shijiu couldn’t bring herself to dim that light in Lin Xinyi’s eyes. Besides, it was just a small thing.
What she didn’t expect was to run into someone again.
Lin Xinyi and Yi Lu crossed paths once more.
This time, however, Xu Shijiu was standing beside Lin Xinyi.
“President Xu!” Yi Lu’s eyes brightened the moment she saw her. She had come by several times, always hearing that President Xu was away on business. Finally, she had managed to see her in person.
“What are you doing here?” Xu Shijiu frowned. Instinctively, she moved to shield Lin Xinyi behind her, afraid Yi Lu might try something again. The last time they met, Yi Lu had scratched Lin Xinyi during a physical altercation.
“I…” Yi Lu didn’t know how to respond.
She noticed the way Xu Shijiu protectively placed herself in front of Lin Xinyi, and her heart was thrown into chaos.
“I remember I warned you. If you show up uninvited again, I won’t let it go,” Xu Shijiu said coldly. When her expression turned stern, it was truly intimidating.
Lin Xinyi’s pheromones were flaring with anxiety. Xu Shijiu could feel it clearly. Her uneasiness was all because of Yi Lu.
“President Xu, I just wanted to see you…” Yi Lu was visibly shaken by Xu Shijiu’s expression.
Lin Xinyi clutched at Xu Shijiu’s sleeve nervously. Xu Shijiu immediately reached over and took her hand in hers, reassuring her silently.
“Yi Lu, I’ve already told you many times. I have no interest in you,” Xu Shijiu said. She didn’t even know how many times she had repeated this.
“I hope you won’t come here again.”
Yi Lu stood there awkwardly, unable to hide her embarrassment.
She had seen the way Xu Shijiu and Lin Xinyi’s fingers were tightly interlaced. It felt like a cruel mockery. As if all her efforts to impress Xu Shijiu had been a joke. Xu Shijiu’s heart had never been available to her.
Everything she had done, even just now, felt like a complete joke.
As Xu Shijiu dismissed her without hesitation, Lin Xinyi’s smile never faded. That look of quiet satisfaction was so adorable that Xu Shijiu couldn’t help smiling back with affection.
“Are you happy now?”
“Yes. Very happy,” Lin Xinyi answered without hesitation.
After getting pregnant, Lin Xinyi sometimes seemed like a child to Xu Shijiu. She was so easily satisfied and only ever wanted simple things.
“Lin Xinyi,” Xu Shijiu suddenly called out.
“Hmm?” Lin Xinyi looked up at her.
Xu Shijiu reached into her pocket, and Lin Xinyi watched curiously, wondering if she had dropped something.
“Did you lose something?” she asked, puzzled.
“No,” Xu Shijiu said quickly, her serious expression suddenly faltering as she sped up her movements.
What she pulled out was a small, square, navy blue velvet box.
“What’s this?” Lin Xinyi blinked, not yet realizing what was happening.
Xu Shijiu slowly opened the box, revealing a diamond ring with an elegant yet simple design.
“You’re…” Lin Xinyi was so shocked she couldn’t even finish her sentence.
“Lin Xinyi, will you marry me?” Xu Shijiu knelt on one knee, holding out the ring box with sincerity shining in her eyes.
They had gone through so much together. Now, with a baby on the way, it was only right that they gave their child a proper home. As mothers, it was their responsibility.
“I will…”
Lin Xinyi didn’t want to think about whether Xu Shijiu was proposing because of responsibility or love. Just being able to stay by her side already felt like a blessing.
