Wife, Are You an Alpha Pretending to be an Omega? - Chapter 9
Wei Xia kept his eyes lowered, but his chin was tilted upward as he faced the crowd with a stoic expression.
A multitude of gazes filled with contempt and ridicule attempted to slice through Wei Xia’s composure like knives. However, Wei Xia found the situation tedious. He walked over with total indifference, picked up his clothes, and patted off the dust. He was preparing to head back, knowing that Xie Jingyu would be anxious if he could not find him.
A hand reached out and grabbed the clothes first.
“Oh, I am so sorry. My hand really slipped. I accidentally knocked sister-in-law’s clothes down. Please do not be angry.”
Xie Ci picked up the clothes with a smirk. He shoved them into Wei Xia’s arms with a natural tone but a violent motion.
Wei Xia swayed slightly from the force of the crude movement. He acted as though he had not noticed, looking at no one as he asked calmly: “Is that enough?”
He then turned to walk toward the exit.
In the next second, two or three people blocked his path.
Wei Xia turned around. “Is this fun for you?”
Xie Ci stepped aside to reveal a strikingly dressed young man standing behind him. The youth’s face was full of malice. He stared at Wei Xia for a long time before finally letting out a sneer.
“It is very fun.”
Wei Xia remained silent. He did not recognize this person and had no idea when he might have provoked them. However, he knew these people were simply looking for trouble. It had nothing to do with anything he had actually done.
Feng Cong clapped his hands. Like a loyal dog, Xie Ci immediately handed a riding crop to him.
Feng Cong snapped the whip, revealing a wicked smile. He suddenly lunged forward and cracked the whip loudly right in front of Wei Xia’s face.
Wei Xia closed his eyes briefly, but his body showed no sign of flinching.
“Heh, you have quite a bit of courage. Are you not afraid I will scar your face and disfigure you? What would you do if Xie Jingyu stopped liking you then?”
Wei Xia watched him silently without saying a word. He had heard far too many insults in his life to take these to heart.
Two hundred meters outside the door, Xie Jingyu’s footsteps halted. He heard the explosive crack of the whip and followed the sound.
Wei Xia sighed softly and scanned the room. “I think you all are very boring. If you have something to say, say it. Stop acting like elementary school children.”
His tone was light and devoid of any trace of fear. It was as if he were watching a group of children throwing a tantrum, showing no respect for them at all. Not only had his usual submissive aura vanished, but it had also been replaced by a sharp edge.
Xie Ci’s eyes widened immediately. Of everyone present, he was the most sensitive to Wei Xia’s changes. At this moment, Wei Xia felt inexplicably familiar. That gaze was exactly like the one Xie Jingyu had when he was angry.
“Who do you think you are?!” Xie Ci barked.
The door was suddenly kicked open. As those words reached Xie Jingyu’s ears, his face darkened. His indifferent, pitch-black eyes fixed on Xie Ci. With just one look, Xie Ci lowered his head in silence. Xie Jingyu’s gaze then quickly locked onto Wei Xia.
He snatched the dirty clothes from Wei Xia’s hands and threw them directly into Xie Ci’s face.
“He is your sister-in-law.”
After saying this, he looked toward the leader, Feng Cong. “He is my wife. If you all have a problem, why are you coming to him instead of me? What kind of logic is that?”
Almost as soon as he finished speaking, Xie Ci noticed Wei Xia’s aura shift again. He transformed back into the little white rabbit from the family dinner, hiding timidly behind Xie Jingyu. Xie Ci was shocked into silence, not daring to utter a single word.
Except for Feng Cong, everyone else in the room either had a family status inferior to Xie Jingyu or held little importance in their own households. They were a group of useless followers. Only Feng Cong, with his prestigious background and an indulgent father, dared to take the lead. Now that Xie Jingyu had appeared with such a stern tone, the others began to cower.
They truly had not expected Xie Jingyu to protect a bastard son of the Wei family so fiercely.
Feng Cong was not afraid of Xie Jingyu. He glared at his useless followers and smiled casually. “Xie Jingyu, why the rush? I saw that the beauty was lonely, so I brought everyone together to warm up the atmosphere.”
Xie Jingyu did not even look at him. He simply turned to Wei Xia and said softly: “We are leaving.”
Wei Xia nodded with a slight flinch and whispered: “Okay.”
He acted like a frightened kitten, leaving Xie Ci stunned. What was this supposed to mean?
Young Master Feng Cong was likely being ignored for the first time in his life. He immediately said rudely: “Will the eldest Master Xie not give me any face? After all, Brother Wei Xia just agreed to have a little match with me.”
Xie Jingyu’s footsteps paused. The hand resting on Wei Xia’s shoulder stiffened slightly. He cast a glance back that carried a heavy sense of warning.
The gaze of someone who had spent years in the business world was vastly different from these pampered second-generation playboys. Even though Feng Cong was used to being a rebel, he lost his footing for a moment under that stare.
“Your father is getting older and his health is not great. I will pay a personal visit to your home another day. As for everything else, let us forget about it. What do you think, Young Master?”
“You!” Feng Cong stammered.
Was he going to tattle to his father?
After finishing his sentence, Xie Jingyu’s gaze swept over Xie Ci’s face. Xie Ci’s expression turned pale instantly. He might not respect his older cousin, but he was well aware of Xie Jingyu’s methods. Until his own father seized actual power over the Xie family, Xie Jingyu could do a great deal to him, often with his father’s tacit approval.
The two of them left.
Feng Cong was so angry that he nearly ground his teeth to dust. He hated Xie Jingyu’s arrogant attitude. In the entire elite social circle, which young master did not treat him with respect? Only Xie Jingyu, whose family background was not even as good as his own and who was only three years older, always looked down on him.
He did not realize that Xie Jingyu simply had a bit of a stone face. He only knew that this man never gave him any respect. Every time he tried to cause trouble, Xie Jingyu’s contempt for him only seemed to intensify.
It was infuriating.
So, what if he married an Omega from a small family? Why is he being so arrogant? Marriage in our circle is just a business transaction. Why act like they have some eternal bond or like he is a hero saving a damsel in distress?
“Tch. You, come here.”
Xie Ci, drenched in a cold sweat, hurried over and leaned down to listen.
“You said before that Xie Jingyu really likes this, Wei Xia?”
Xie Ci was too afraid to cause any more trouble now and wished he could slap his past self from an hour ago. However, he did not dare to deny it, as that would imply, he had been playing with Feng Cong.
He could only grit his teeth and confirm: “Yes, my cousin seems to really like this bastard.”
He wanted to say more, but then he heard Feng Cong laugh.
“Is that so? Then how come I did not smell any pheromones on Wei Xia? Do they not even have a temporary mark?”
Xie Ci’s pupils dilated. Right, why had I not thought of that? He recalled the last time they had dinner at the house; he had not smelled any blending of their pheromones either.
Almost everyone present was an Alpha, with only a few Betas. Among them were two genuine top-tier Alphas.
Feng Cong was one of them. He shifted his gaze toward the more high-quality Alphas among his followers. The others immediately understood and recalled the situation, responding one by one.
“I am certain. The scent on Wei Xia is completely clean.”
“Yes, I am very sensitive to this. There is no trace of pheromone exchange between them at all.”
Feng Cong came to a conclusion and laughed playfully.
“Now that is interesting. Do you really think Xie Jingyu is as cold, abstinent, and devoted as he looks? What would happen if he hit his rut and ran into an Omega ten thousand times sweeter than Wei Xia?”
After saying this, he laughed loudly. The surrounding young masters joined in with forced laughter.
The reason was simple: Feng Cong was likely the only one who would dare to actually pull such a stunt.
Xie Ci could not bring himself to laugh. He sensed that things were heading in a direction he could no longer predict.
A hand landed on his shoulder. He looked up to meet Feng Cong’s bottomless, smiling eyes.
“Oh, I forgot we have a member of the Xie family here. You are not going to run back and tell your dear cousin, are you?”
Xie Ci laughed nervously. “No! How could I? Brother Cong, you know me. I have never been on good terms with Xie Jingyu.”
“That is good then.”
