Wife, Are You an Alpha Pretending to be an Omega? - Chapter 2
Wei Xia was a perfectly qualified wife. Xie Jingyu thought this sincerely as he ate a meal that was excellent in color, aroma, and taste, all while watching the busy figure in the kitchen.
“You do not have to do all of this yourself,” Xie Jingyu said. “Auntie Li’s cooking is also very delicious.”
“Also?” Wei Xia smiled and raised an eyebrow. “That implies that my cooking is very delicious as well.”
Since they got married, Wei Xia had become very cheerful. He had gradually learned how to joke with Xie Jingyu. Rather than feeling repelled, Xie Jingyu felt his favorable impression of this Omega increase significantly.
“It is indeed very delicious,” Xie Jingyu replied.
“That is good to hear. Auntie Li has been a bit busy with her family lately, so I thought I would help out more. Besides, I sit at home every day with nothing to do. Please let me do something for you.”
Wei Xia served a small bowl of West Lake Beef Soup and placed it in front of Xie Jingyu. He then untied his apron and sat opposite him with a beaming smile.
“Are you bored? You can contact Uncle Zhao to take you out more often. How about going horse riding in the western suburbs?” Xie Jingyu felt this was an oversight on his part. As his wife, it was only right to arrange appropriate outdoor activities for Wei Xia.
Wei Xia spoke casually without any intent to complain. “No, I am not bored. Cooking for you makes me very happy.”
Wei Xia had long, slender fingers. He used his chopsticks to place some food into Xie Jingyu’s bowl. As he leaned forward slightly, his tall and sturdy stature was impossible to ignore. For some reason, Xie Jingyu felt that Wei Xia’s hands seemed a bit larger than his own.
“Jingyu, will you come home for dinner tonight?”
Hearing his name called made Xie Jingyu feel a strange tingle. He nodded and said: “I will eat at home.”
“Good.” Wei Xia gave a happy smile, and a different kind of light flickered in his eyes.
He also had a secret, which was that he was actually an Alpha.
He never wanted to return to the Wei family. However, his mother was gravely ill. That woman, who had been ambitious her entire life, still dreamed of entering the upper class even on her deathbed. She forced him to return to the Wei family in the guise of an Omega. He had originally intended to deal with them perfunctorily and then leave quickly, but he never expected to learn that his marriage partner would be that person.
It was Xie Jingyu.
While Wei Xia had hesitated for a moment, the man had proactively asked if he was willing to marry him. Wei Xia agreed because Xie Jingyu was the person he had secretly loved for ten years.
Before he could even consider whether his Alpha identity would be exposed, the man told him that he would not mark him. This meant that, if possible, he could keep his gender a secret forever. However, the man also mentioned that he already had someone he loved deeply.
Wei Xia felt as if his heart had been pricked by a needle. The sweetness of marrying his beloved was tinged with a dense, aching sorrow. But it did not matter. Wei Xia thought to himself that at least the man was still willing to come home.
A sense of immorality spread through his heart. He despised his mother, yet he had to admit he was fundamentally no different from her. They were both shameless and eager to intervene in someone else’s relationship. However, as he looked at the gentle man before him, he could not suppress his primal desires and was willing to sink into them. He even thought darkly about what would happen if Xie Jingyu gradually got used to him or fell in love with him. He wondered if he could compare to the Omega waiting outside.
Wei Xia’s gaze was so intense that Xie Jingyu began to feel uncomfortable. Xie Jingyu looked up and met Wei Xia’s beautiful eyes. The soft lines of the eyelids combined with thick, straight lashes outlined the most charming side of a man. His eyes seemed to hold a deep, dark spring that was black enough to reflect Xie Jingyu’s own shadow.
Xie Jingyu suddenly felt like prey that had been targeted. The gland at the back of his neck began to itch. He turned his gaze away.
“What is it? Is there something on my face?”
Wei Xia seemed not to notice. He smiled and reached out, his fingertips brushing across Xie Jingyu’s lips with a bit of force. “A little oily.”
He did not use a napkin; he used his hand. Realizing this, Xie Jingyu suddenly felt flustered. He wiped his mouth with a tissue as his face began to turn crimson. Wei Xia was a bit different from what he had imagined.
“By the way, when is your heat period?” Xie Jingyu randomly found a topic to cover his previous embarrassment.
Even if he was only a husband in name, Xie Jingyu considered himself a responsible person. Since he could not help Wei Xia with a temporary mark to get through the heat, he felt he should find a solution for this fragile Omega.
“If you have someone you like, you can ask them for a temporary mark. I do not mind.”
Wei Xia’s eyes darkened as he said: “I am naturally indifferent to such things. My heat periods are short, and my needs are not strong.”
Even if he did have such periods, they would only be “rut” periods. Seeing Xie Jingyu breathe a sigh of relief, Wei Xia felt an inexplicable surge of irritability.
Xie Jingyu was indeed relieved. He had been hesitating on whether to tell Wei Xia not to let anyone else mark him, but the words felt too stiff. Facing this fragile and beautiful Omega, he felt he could not say it. Fortunately, it seemed Wei Xia was like him, possessing a thin scent of pheromones that could be managed with suppressants.
He still said: “I support your decision.” He truly believed he was being a good husband.
The meal ended in silence. When Xie Jingyu went to work, he encountered his uncle, Xie Hai. A fox-like man in his fifties, Xie Hai came to his office to offer hypocritical concern about Xie Jingyu’s married life.
“Jingyu, at your age, you can consider having a child.”
The smile did not reach Xie Jingyu’s eyes, but he curled his lips. “Yes, Uncle. I have even discussed it with Xiaxia.”
“It truly is a sweet life. I am looking forward to holding a grand-nephew.”
“However, Xiaxia is too thin and looks quite haggard. I was thinking of letting him recover first.” Xie Jingyu adopted a knowing expression to cleverly hide their private affairs. At the same time, his words carried a double meaning, implying that Wei Xia’s previous circumstances had been difficult and that he knew exactly why.
Xie Hai chuckled awkwardly and did not ask further. He was the one who had arranged the marriage with the Wei family. However, he never expected the two of them to actually get along. He wondered why Xie Jingyu would be interested in that illegitimate child. Was it really just because the Wei boy was good-looking? He never knew Xie Jingyu was someone who prioritized appearances.
“Did Uncle come to see me for a specific reason today?”
“Oh, it is nothing major. It is just that your aunt was out of the country when you had your wedding. She has been nagging about it. I wanted to ask if you could bring Xiaxia home for dinner this weekend so the younger cousins can get to know him. Our two families should interact more often.”
“I thought Uncle came to see me about the land in the eastern suburbs. Going to dinner is a small matter. Xiaxia and I are free anytime.” Xie Jingyu stood up. “It is getting late, and I promised Xiaxia I would be home for dinner, so I will not keep you. This weekend, I will definitely bring Xiaxia to visit so that Auntie can rest easy.”
The words were stuck in Xie Hai’s throat, and his expression suddenly became unpleasant. Before he could lose his temper, Xie Jingyu walked away, leaving him alone in the large office.
“Damn it!” Xie Hai’s face was grim. He kicked the trash can over violently. He had not expected Xie Jingyu and Wei Xia to be so harmonious. But it was just as well; this weekend he would see for himself if the two of them were truly as affectionate as they claimed.
The moment Xie Jingyu stepped out, his smile vanished. He gave a cold look to his secretary, who hurried forward.
“Make sure he leaves.”
“Yes, President Xie.”
When Xie Jingyu returned home, Wei Xia was already busy with dinner. From behind, the man’s silhouette did not seem as short or fragile as a typical Omega, but he was indeed very thin. It was clear he had not been treated well. Xie Jingyu could not help but imagine many scenes of him being mistreated by the Wei family, and his heart stirred with emotion. Since they were a married couple, he would not mistreat Wei Xia.
“What are we eating today?”
“You are back.” Wei Xia looked at him with a smile and showed him a large crab. He playfully thrust it toward Xie Jingyu. Watching Xie Jingyu get startled, he laughed happily. “We are eating big crabs.”
Xie Jingyu felt a warmth in his heart. It seemed the entire house became cozy because of this other person. He smiled and said: “Good.”
During the meal, Xie Jingyu said: “Wei Xia, I need you to accompany me to a dinner this weekend.”
Wei Xia looked up. This was the first time Xie Jingyu had made a request of him. He answered without hesitation: “Okay.”
“Are you not going to ask who it is with?” Xie Jingyu was curious.
Wei Xia opened his mouth slightly and said: “There is indeed a question. Do you need me to act for you?”
Xie Jingyu nodded. He did not speak, but he felt that Wei Xia was incredibly thoughtful.
“Then, are you going to call me by my name in front of them?” Wei Xia’s gaze was warm as he looked unblinkingly at Xie Jingyu, making the latter feel a bit overwhelmed.
“Xiaxia…”
“Okay, Hubby.”
A rush of blood went straight to Xie Jingyu’s head. He looked up in a panic and met Wei Xia’s teasing, smiling eyes. Wei Xia tilted his head clearly as if to ask if he had said something wrong.
Technically, he had not. Xie Jingyu took a sip of water and did not correct him.
Wei Xia knew when to stop. He offered a gentle and lovely smile. “Jingyu, I will cooperate well. Please do not worry.”
