Wife, Are You an Alpha Pretending to be an Omega? - Chapter 3
Xie Jingyu left work two hours early today. He drove home and waited for Wei Xia downstairs.
He had sent Wei Xia a message in advance, thinking that a beautiful Omega would surely need a little more time to dress up. He was mentally prepared to wait, but to his surprise, as soon as he pulled up, he saw a high-spirited Wei Xia already standing there. Upon seeing him, Wei Xia immediately waved happily in response.
Xie Jingyu felt a bit embarrassed. Once Wei Xia got into the car, he said, “I am sorry, I arrived late.”
“Not at all. It is just that I was eager to see you.”
Wei Xia reached out to fasten his seatbelt and gave a playful wink. He then took a silk scarf from his bag, leaned over, and began to arrange it around Xie Jingyu’s suit collar.
A fragrance reminiscent of mellow red wine wafted toward him. Xie Jingyu’s mind wandered: Is Wei Xia’s pheromone scent red wine?
However, he quickly noticed something else.
Wei Xia’s outfit today was not particularly dazzling or exaggerated. Instead, he had chosen a neutral casual suit that matched the color of Xie Jingyu’s own suit. It was neither too formal nor too casual; standing together, they looked perfectly coordinated.
Noticing Xie Jingyu’s gaze, Wei Xia looked down at his clothes and smiled. “How is it? Does it look alright?”
Even the scarf he was currently pairing with Xie Jingyu’s outfit was an echo of his own clothing, making Xie Jingyu’s suit appear less sharp and aggressive.
Come to think of it, Wei Xia had personally picked out this suit for him this morning.
Xie Jingyu did not stop his movements. He forced a slight curve of his lips and softened his tone as much as possible. “It is very suitable. You look good.”
Wei Xia’s smile was beautiful.
They arrived at Xie Hai’s home. Standing at the door, Wei Xia proactively took Xie Jingyu’s hand. Xie Jingyu turned his gaze to meet the Omega’s questioning look. His grip tightened, firmly holding back the hand of his wife.
“Uncle, we have arrived.”
A middle-aged female Omega, dressed elegantly, hurried to greet them. While ushering them inside, she poured out a string of pleasantries, first praising Xie Jingyu tirelessly before subtly inquiring about the couple’s newlywed life.
Then, using the excuse of “Omega private talk,” she borrowed Wei Xia away from Xie Jingyu’s side.
Xie Jingyu had wanted to say that Wei Xia did not need to go, but Wei Xia gave him a reassuring look. He looked incredibly well-behaved, gentle, and submissive. No matter what others said, he simply nodded and offered a shallow smile.
They went to the kitchen, while Xie Hai pulled Xie Jingyu into the living room to discuss Alpha-centric topics.
Xie Jingyu’s eyes drifted toward Wei Xia from time to time. He did not know what Wei Xia was hearing, but the Omega’s face began to turn red as he nodded bashfully.
Xie Jingyu’s heart softened.
“Brother, do you really treasure this Wei Xia that much?”
Xie Jingyu retracted his gaze. The speaker was Xie Ci, Xie Hai’s eldest son, who had a playful look on his face. Xie Hai stood nearby in silence, observing his reaction.
The corners of Xie Jingyu’s mouth lifted slightly, but his eyes remained cold. “You should call him ‘Sister-in-law’.”
Xie Ci let out a scoff, completely failing to notice Xie Jingyu’s coldness. “An illegitimate son is fit to be my sister-in-law? Brother, I think you have really lost your mind! Do you even know how everyone is mocking you?”
The volume of this statement was too loud, causing the people in the kitchen to turn and look.
Xie Jingyu’s expression became grim. “Oh? And how are they mocking me?”
Xie Ci wanted to continue, but Xie Hai shouted him down: “Shut up! What kind of nonsense is that!”
Xie Jingyu ignored the two of them. He had had enough of the hypocrisy here. He walked toward the kitchen, using his actions to hurry the progress of the meal. He nodded to his aunt, then reached out from behind to wrap his hands around Wei Xia’s waist, resting his chin close to the Omega’s earlobe.
“Xia, what are you chatting about with Aunt?”
“Jingyu,” Wei Xia said.
Wei Xia’s body visibly stiffened.
The middle-aged female Omega had clearly failed to pry any information out of Wei Xia. Seeing the couple’s sweet display of affection, she could not quite maintain her composure. “It is nothing. Just some Omega whispers that you Alphas would not understand. Let us get ready to eat.”
They all sat down at the dining table. Xie Jingyu and Wei Xia naturally sat together.
During the meal, Xie Ci cast several blatant, scrutinizing glances their way, but Wei Xia acted as if he did not notice. Xie Jingyu, meanwhile, displayed the full grace of a husband, serving food and handing over napkins as if the Omega beside him were the love of his life.
“Jingyu, when do you plan to have a child? You and Xia are not young anymore. When I was Xia’s age, I was already pregnant with Xiao Ci.”
Wei Xia’s face turned red at the appropriate moment.
Xie Jingyu was prepared. He naturally reached over to hold Wei Xia’s hand and said with a smile, “Aunt, as you can see, Xia is too thin. I am worried about him. There is no rush for children; our relationship is stable, and we want to enjoy some time as a couple. If a ‘little thing’ were to come along now, neither Xia nor I would be able to handle it.”
Wei Xia’s face seemed to turn even redder.
Xie Jingyu squeezed Wei Xia’s hand and leaned in to ask softly, “Isn’t that right?”
Wei Xia replied, “Yes.”
Xie Ci glared, feeling as though the phrase “little thing” was a jab at him.
Since things had been put this way, the relatives could not say much more, though their expressions turned somewhat unsightly. Xie Jingyu and Wei Xia’s happiness felt like an out-of-place movie clip playing in the wrong setting; aside from the two of them, no one truly envied them.
“Hahaha, well, that is good then.”
Afterward, Xie Hai asked Xie Jingyu about company management, but Xie Jingyu parried every question flawlessly.
Wei Xia ate silently, watching the man’s serious and earnest profile. The blush on his face was not fake, and his heart was pounding wildly.
Once the meal was over, Xie Jingyu found a good moment to suggest leaving and took Wei Xia to bid their polite farewells.
At the car, Xie Jingyu opened the door and waited for Wei Xia to enter. Unexpectedly, Wei Xia pulled him back. They stood facing each other, their nearly identical heights bringing their faces very close.
Their eyes met.
“What is it? Are you full?”
Wei Xia’s beautiful face suddenly leaned in, his breath fanning across Xie Jingyu’s cheek.
Xie Jingyu felt his senses instantly awaken. His gland was stimulated by the red wine fragrance, causing it to itch. The suppressant he had injected a few days ago showed signs of failing.
Why am I reacting to an Omega’s pheromones? Xie Jingyu did not have time to think deeply about it.
Wei Xia whispered, “Someone is watching.”
The Xie family members were indeed watching them from behind.
Xie Jingyu froze for a split second, then raised his hands to cup the back of Wei Xia’s head. From behind, it looked as if two deeply devoted lovers were locked in an intense kiss.
However, their skin did not even touch; only their breaths were intertwined.
Xie Jingyu’s face was very red, perhaps even redder than Wei Xia’s, but in the dark environment, no one could tell.
Wei Xia secretly wished this moment of shared breath could last longer, but he feared Xie Jingyu would be repulsed. Thus, after a minute, he said reluctantly, “Okay, that is enough.”
Xie Jingyu took an awkward step back. He felt like an inexperienced boy, completely at a loss. He turned and got into the car. His skin color was obscured, but his expression remained as stoic as ever.
Wei Xia felt a bit sad as he followed him into the car. He could only see Xie Jingyu’s calm and indifferent expression. So, Xie Jingyu actually finds me repulsive, right? After all, he still has that Omega lover he has loved for years.
“I am sorry,” Wei Xia whispered.
“Pardon me,” Xie Jingyu said.
Two voices spoke simultaneously inside the car.
Xie Jingyu reacted first. He did not dare to look at Wei Xia as he started the car. Keeping his eyes strictly on the road, he said, “You do not need to be sorry. You did very well.”
Wei Xia was stunned. Xie Jingyu was only praising him for doing well because he had cooperated with the act. That was indeed the truth, so there was no reason to be sad.
“Then, will your partner be jealous? I feel very sorry toward him.”
Sorry for having the crazy, desperate thought of wanting to steal his Alpha away.
“He will not. You do not need to worry.”
“Is that so? He is truly generous.”
Xie Jingyu frowned. “Why do you say that?”
“Because if someone did that to my partner, I am afraid I would go crazy with jealousy.”
Xie Jingyu did not respond. He felt Wei Xia’s gaze on him and thought the words were somewhat pointed, but he quickly dismissed the idea because the gland at the back of his neck was throbbing wildly.
Xie Jingyu felt that he was becoming abnormal.
