- Which Fierce Alpha Disguises as a Beta to Abduct a Wife?
- Chapter 7 - A Gentle Appearance Is More Captivating
“If you kiss me, it won’t hurt anymore.” Zhou Yunqiu pouted aggrievedly, his face practically screaming, ‘Come and pamper me.’
Jiang Huaiyan wore a look of utter helplessness. “…I am not a miracle drug.”
“If you kiss me, my attention will be diverted to you.”
“That’s just a psychological effect.”
“How can you be so unromantic!” Zhou Yunqiu was so incensed that his face turned a shade paler.
Jiang Huaiyan averted his gaze, gently massaging the boy’s aching knees. “The medicine is about to kick in.”
“I’m in pain!” Zhou Yunqiu shouted, dissatisfied.
Jiang Huaiyan acted as if he hadn’t heard.
“I’m in pain, very, very much pain!” Zhou Yunqiu raised his voice, shouting until tears suddenly began to fall uncontrollably. Whether it was from the agony or pure frustration, even he didn’t know.
“Little Master…” Seeing his tears, a hint of panic flickered across Jiang Huaiyan’s usually expressionless face.
Zhou Yunqiu turned his face away, refusing to look at him, his lips still pouting in grievance.
“You are already engaged; you shouldn’t mess around like this,” Jiang Huaiyan attempted to reason with him.
“Do you think I want this engagement?” Zhou Yunqiu’s tears fell even faster. “You know better than anyone how many Omegas Fang Yanting keeps on the side. In these past two years, the kindness he’s shown me hasn’t even been a tenth of yours.”
“If you’re bothered by the fact that I’m engaged, I can cancel it at any time.”
“Little Master, you are muddled from the pain.”
“I am not. I don’t want to marry him, and he has no sincere desire to marry me either.” Zhou Yunqiu took a deep breath and looked at Jiang Huaiyan earnestly. “Do you really want to watch me marry an Alpha who doesn’t love me?”
Jiang Huaiyan paused for several seconds before answering in a flat tone, “I am just a bodyguard. I cannot offer advice on matters as significant as marriage.”
“Get out. I don’t want to see you anymore.” Zhou Yunqiu’s heart ached with anger; he let out a low growl, telling the man to get lost.
“Your legs still hurt. I cannot leave.”
“I don’t care! You’re just my bodyguard; you have no right to interfere in my life. If I tell you to get lost, then get lost!”
Jiang Huaiyan didn’t move.
“Get out!” Zhou Yunqiu shouted again, his finger pointing angrily toward the door.
Jiang Huaiyan rose and walked out. Hearing the sound of the door closing, Zhou Yunqiu became even angrier.
He actually left! He isn’t worried about me at all! Bastard, they’re all bastards! None of them are any good!
Relying on men is worse than relying on myself.
Zhou Yunqiu wiped away the flood of tears from the corners of his eyes. Enduring the pain in his knees, he stood up, intending to return to his room. But his knees were so numb with pain that they refused to obey his commands. After taking only a single step, his legs gave way, and his entire body toppled over.
With a loud clang, he slammed onto the floor along with his water glass. The glass hit the hard ground and shattered instantly. Shards of glass fell beneath his legs.
In a fit of rage, he hammered a fist against his nearly crippled kneecaps, bracing himself against the floor to try and stand back up.
“Little Master, don’t move!” Jiang Huaiyan’s anxious voice suddenly rang out from the doorway.
Before Zhou Yunqiu could react, he was scooped up in a princess carry. The familiar scent and the sound of a nervous heartbeat made him lose his focus for a moment. He stared at Jiang Huaiyan’s face for several seconds before coming to his senses, struggling to get down. “What did you come back for? Didn’t I tell you to get lost? Let go of me!”
Looking at the cuts on the boy’s legs from the glass, Jiang Huaiyan couldn’t help but scold him in a low voice, “Stop it. If you keep acting up, the only one getting hurt is you.”
Zhou Yunqiu was stunned by the outburst. Two seconds later, he accused him aggrievedly, “You yelled at me.”
Jiang Huaiyan: “…”
“You actually dared to yell at me.”
“I’m sorry,” Jiang Huaiyan apologized, but he had no intention of letting go. He carried him directly back to the bedroom.
Having been scolded once, Zhou Yunqiu settled down quite a bit. Mostly, the painkillers were starting to work, so he didn’t feel as miserable. He stayed obediently in the man’s arms.
“I’ll handle your wounds first, then I’ll make you something delicious. Will you eat and then take a nap?” Jiang Huaiyan’s voice softened unconsciously.
Zhou Yunqiu was very susceptible to this approach. He nodded. “Okay. I want braised pork.”
“Alright. I’ll pick a pig raised on the Maoshan Farm.”
Once Jiang Huaiyan left, Zhou Yunqiu still felt a bit lightheaded. Jiang Huaiyan looks quite handsome when he’s angry, he thought. But his gentle appearance is even more captivating.
He wondered what the man would look like when controlled by desire. He really wanted to see it.
The next day, Zhou Yunqiu was woken up by Jiang Huaiyan. He opened his bleary eyes and leaned limply against Jiang’s chest, letting the man dress him.
“Wake up. The Eldest Master wants me to take you to the ancestral estate.”
“What are we going to the estate for? I don’t want to go.” Zhou Yunqiu kept his eyes closed, unconsciously rubbing his head against the man’s chest.
At that contact, Jiang Huaiyan’s entire body went rigid. Due to their heights and positions, Zhou Yunqiu’s head was resting right against his waist and abdomen. Three inches down, there were signs of an “awakening.”
He immediately pushed Zhou Yunqiu away, hoisted him up, and stuffed him into the bathroom. “If you don’t go, the Eldest Master will come to fetch you personally.”
Those words successfully terrified Zhou Yunqiu. He feared nothing in heaven or earth, except for his brother, Zhou Yunqing. Though his brother wasn’t tall and had a face that looked very much like an Omega’s, his fists were very hard—especially when he was angry! As a child, Zhou Yunqiu had been beaten plenty for being disobedient.
He didn’t dare delay any longer. Forcing himself through his sleepiness, he washed up and got into Jiang Huaiyan’s car. On the way, he kept wondering about the purpose of this trip. It wasn’t time for a family banquet, so why go to the estate so suddenly? The estate was currently occupied by his various uncles, whom he disliked immensely.
He didn’t dare sleep anymore, pulling himself together with full alertness.
Arriving at the Zhou family gates, Zhou Yunqing was already waiting for him.
“You go back first. Come back when you receive a call,” Zhou Yunqing said to Jiang Huaiyan.
Jiang Huaiyan nodded and left.
“Hey, don’t leave!” Zhou Yunqiu wanted to call him back; he didn’t want to stay here for so long.
Zhou Yunqing draped an arm over his shoulder and led him inside, giving him no chance to stop Jiang Huaiyan.
“Brother, what’s the meaning of this?”
“The old fogies want to divide the shares,” Zhou Yunqing said with a cold sneer.
Zhou Yunqiu’s eyes blazed with anger. “Dad isn’t even dead yet, and they’re already this impatient?”
“Haste makes waste,” Zhou Yunqing said with a sarcastic smile.
“Brother, how sure are you about inheriting everything?” Zhou Yunqiu was a bit worried.
“One hundred percent.”
Zhou Yunqiu: “…Really?”
“When has Brother ever lied to you?” Zhou Yunqing rubbed his head. “No one can take what belongs to the two of us.”
“Brother, you’re the best. Since you’re so good, why did you have to drag me out of my warm bed?” The tension Zhou Yunqiu had felt throughout the drive snapped, and he leaned into his brother’s arms. “I’m really so sleepy. I just want to sleep.”
“Just here to go through the motions. You can sleep here just the same; I’ll handle the rest.” Zhou Yunqing led his brother further inside.
Just as Zhou Yunqing had said, after eating breakfast at the estate, Zhou Yunqiu went to a room to catch up on his sleep. By the time he woke up, it was already afternoon.
However, he still couldn’t leave. The negotiations between his brother and his uncles were not going smoothly. The stalemate lasted until late at night before the old men finally relented.
Zhou Yunqing had Zhou Yunqiu sign many documents. He recognized the large characters on them: Equity Transfer Agreements. His brother had transferred all the shares he had secured today to him.
“Brother, am I a tycoon now?” he asked with a grin.
“Yes. You are now a major shareholder of the Zhou Group.”
“What about you? You’re the one in control of the company; I only need a small portion.” Zhou Yunqiu understood clearly that his contributions to the company couldn’t compare to his brother’s. His brother had joined the company immediately after graduation and had kept things running at home during the years their father was overseas.
As for him, he had been sheltered under his brother’s wing since childhood. Aside from the kidnapping two years ago, he had been very well protected.
“With my ability, would I ever lack such things?” Zhou Yunqing’s eyes were full of confident laughter.
Zhou Yunqiu let out a proud huff. “That’s true; my brother is the best! But what’s mine is yours. No matter what happens, we brothers will face it together.”
“Good. You don’t need to wrong yourself either. If you want to cancel that engagement, then cancel it. That scumbag isn’t good enough for you; Brother will find you a better Alpha.”
Zhou Yunqiu was moved to tears by his brother’s words.
“Call Jiang Huaiyan to come pick you up. I don’t have time to take you back.”
Zhou Yunqiu pulled out his phone to call Jiang Huaiyan. Usually, Jiang would answer almost instantly, but this time it rang for a long while before connecting.
“Little Master?” Jiang Huaiyan’s background was noisy; it didn’t sound like he was resting at home.
“Where are you? Come pick me up now.”
“…I can’t get away right now. Is it alright if I arrange for someone else to fetch you?” As Jiang Huaiyan spoke, someone in the background called out, “Brother Jiang.”
The voice was soft clearly that of an Omega.
Zhou Yunqiu’s grip on the phone tightened instantly. He asked in a cold voice: “Where are you?”
