- Which Fierce Alpha Disguises as a Beta to Abduct a Wife?
- Chapter 43 - Enraged, He Backhanded Jiang Huaiyan with a Slap
Jiang Huaiyan’s heart trembled.
Running away from home to find him—did the boy have any idea what he was doing? He was no longer his bodyguard.
“Don’t just stand there without saying anything. I’ve brought all my things. If you kick me out, I’ll have nowhere to go.” Zhou Yunqiu pouted, grabbing Jiang Huaiyan’s hand and giving it a little shake.
“Zhou Yunqiu, if you go back now, your brother might not punish you too harshly.” Jiang Huaiyan hardened his heart, pulling his hand away and coldly issuing an eviction notice. “My place isn’t suitable for you. Go back.”
“I’m not going back. What’s the point of going back if you’re not there?” Zhou Yunqiu refused, his small face falling.
“I won’t be there from now on. Does that mean you’ll never go back?”
“You’re a liar. You promised to always stay by my side.” Zhou Yunqiu’s eyes reddened instantly, unable to hold back the tears.
Jiang Huaiyan looked away, not daring to meet his gaze. Suppressing the agony in his heart, he said in a low voice, “I was just coaxing you. Don’t take it seriously. I’m a free man now with my own things to do. You should go back and let your brother pick a new bodyguard for you.”
“I don’t want a new one! You promised me, so you have to do it!” Zhou Yunqiu choked out, reaching forward to hug Jiang Huaiyan tightly.
Jiang Huaiyan tried to push him away.
Zhou Yunqiu held on even tighter, his voice full of grievance. “Be gentle, my head hurts.”
Jiang Huaiyan’s hands froze mid-air. His gaze landed on Zhou Yunqiu’s head. Although he had used special medicine to speed up the recovery, he could still vaguely see the dense network of wounds hidden beneath the hair.
“Jiang Huaiyan, I know my brother treated you badly. I’ll apologize to you on his behalf. I’m sorry. I can give you whatever compensation you want, just please stop being angry, okay?”
“I’m cold and in pain right now. Don’t drive me away. I just want to be with you.”
“This is what we agreed on. You can’t go back on your word.”
Jiang Huaiyan couldn’t listen any longer; he was afraid he would go soft. He insisted on gripping Zhou Yunqiu’s wrists and pushing him out of his embrace. “Zhou Yunqiu, we have nothing to do with each other now. It’s not appropriate for you to stay here, and it’s not appropriate for me to take you in. Go back before it gets dark.”
Having said his piece, he bypassed him, pushed open the door, and entered the villa.
With red eyes, Zhou Yunqiu tried to follow him with his suitcase, but the door had already been shut and locked. Enraged, he began to pound on the door frantically. “Jiang Huaiyan, you bastard! How dare you lock me out!”
“Come out and let’s make things clear! What do you mean ‘nothing to do with each other’? Did I give you permission to leave me?”
“You have to do what you promised! This Young Master isn’t that easy to fool!”
“Jiang Huaiyan, come out! Get out here right now…!”
However, no matter how much he shouted, Jiang Huaiyan did not open the door. Zhou Yunqiu could only sit back down on the steps in anger, hugging his suitcase as he waited by the entrance. He didn’t believe Jiang Huaiyan was truly so cold-hearted that he’d let him sit outside all night.
But even as a light drizzle began to fall, Jiang Huaiyan didn’t come out to call him in.
Zhou Yunqiu looked back blankly at the tightly closed villa door. Why is this happening? Everything was fine a few days ago. Why did it suddenly change? Is it really just because his brother fired him? Did he truly intend to never have anything to do with him again? He had clearly promised just a few days ago to stay with him forever.
Zhou Yunqiu didn’t have the energy to think deeper; his leg ailment was acting up again. It flared up every time it rained, without fail. He didn’t have his painkillers with him, and Jiang Huaiyan wouldn’t let him in. He could only use his hands to thump his kneecaps, trying to use the physical pain of the impact to distract from the aching in his bones.
The rain grew heavier, quickly soaking Zhou Yunqiu to the bone. He remained in place, stubbornly thumping his legs while counting down in his head.
If I count from a hundred down to one and Jiang Huaiyan still hasn’t come out, I’m leaving. Leaving this place, leaving Jiang Huaiyan.
He’s just a Beta—if he doesn’t want him, then fine. He didn’t believe he couldn’t find someone better.
But as he reached “one,” a piercing, soul-crushing pain bloomed in his heart. He tried to stand up to leave, but his legs were so numb from the pain that he couldn’t stand. His body pitched forward uncontrollably, and he tumbled onto the steps.
Jiang Huaiyan, who had been watching him from inside the villa the whole time, could no longer bear it. He rushed out, scooped him off the ground, and began to scold him harshly. “Are you crazy?! It’s raining this hard and you didn’t know to go back? If you get sick from the cold, you’re the one who suffers!”
Zhou Yunqiu glared at him, wanting to snap back, but his tears were faster. He pouted and hit him. “Put me down! I don’t need you to care!”
Jiang Huaiyan didn’t let go, carrying him straight to the car. Zhou Yunqiu kicked his aching legs, struggling with all his might. “I told you to put me down! I can go back by myself; I don’t need you to take me!”
“Go to the car and take your medicine.”
“I won’t! Get away from me! Don’t touch me, I don’t need your help!”
Ignoring him, Jiang Huaiyan insisted on stuffing him into the car. Enraged, Zhou Yunqiu backhanded him with a slap.
The slap was loud and crisp.
When Zhou Yunqiu realized what he had done, his hand began to tremble. Tears fell even more fiercely, like pearls from a broken string.
Jiang Huaiyan let out a helpless sigh. “Are you satisfied now? If not, you can hit me again.”
Zhou Yunqiu pulled his hand back and refused to look at him. Jiang Huaiyan placed him in the car, grabbed the painkillers from the spare medical kit in the trunk, and handed them over.
He didn’t move, just sat in the passenger seat wiping his tears.
“Stop crying, it was my fault.” Heart aching, Jiang Huaiyan pulled out a tissue to wipe his eyes.
Zhou Yunqiu cried even harder, cursing as he sobbed. “You’re just a bastard who doesn’t keep his word! Who does that? You promised to stay with me, and then you just change your mind whenever you want!”
“If you couldn’t do it, you shouldn’t have promised! You promised me so many things, and you haven’t done a single one right. Now you’re acting like I’m a nuisance for bothering you. If I didn’t care about you, who would bother with you? You really think you’re some kind of heartthrob?”
“Stay away from me! There’s no need to play pretend now. Weren’t you going to ignore me? Then keep ignoring me!”
“I’ll go stay in a hotel later. I don’t care about this shacks of yours.”
Watching him curse and cry at the same time, Jiang Huaiyan felt both pity and helplessness. He didn’t offer any defense; he just quietly wiped the boy’s tears and, taking advantage of a gap in his ranting, popped the painkillers into his mouth. “Curse all you want, but you have to take the medicine.”
Zhou Yunqiu swallowed it angrily and immediately resumed his verbal assault.
“Change your clothes first. They’re all wet.” Jiang Huaiyan pulled out his own spare clean clothes from the trunk.
Zhou Yunqiu ignored him.
“If you won’t take them off, I’ll help you?” Seeing him still, Jiang Huaiyan reached out for the hem of his shirt.
Startled, Zhou Yunqiu raised his hand to slap him again. Jiang Huaiyan didn’t dodge, only instinctively flinching his head away. Zhou Yunqiu stopped just in time, snatched the clothes from his hand, and barked, “I’ll change myself! Get away from me!”
“Fine, change them yourself.” Jiang Huaiyan stepped out and used his phone to call for a cleaning service to tidy the villa. The house was full of his Alpha traces and scent; he couldn’t let Zhou Yunqiu, an Omega, stay there directly.
After making the call, he waited a while before opening the car door again. Zhou Yunqiu had finished changing and was sitting inside in total silence.
Jiang Huaiyan took two medicated patches from the kit. “Roll up your pant legs.”
Zhou Yunqiu didn’t move, keeping a cold face and ignoring him. With no other choice, Jiang Huaiyan leaned over, rolled up the fabric, and revealed the knees that had been hammered red.
He applied a patch to each knee, then held them in his large hands, gently kneading them. “Does that feel any better?”
Zhou Yunqiu still didn’t respond, though the expression on his face had softened significantly.
“It was my fault just now. I shouldn’t have locked you out, and I shouldn’t have been harsh. I’ll accept whatever punishment you want.”
“As for those promises, I will still fulfill everything I said. Even though your brother fired me, I can still be your free bodyguard until you personally tell me to leave.”
A flash of joy flickered in Zhou Yunqiu’s reddened eyes. “You mean it?”
“Mhm.”
“Then I forgive you.” Saying this, Zhou Yunqiu suddenly reached out to tug at Jiang Huaiyan’s shirt.
Startled by the move, Jiang Huaiyan quickly grabbed his wrists, his ears flushing uncontrollably. “What are you doing? We’re in a car!”
