- Which Fierce Alpha Disguises as a Beta to Abduct a Wife?
- Chapter 41 - I Want to See the Young Master One Last Time Before I Leave
The Xiao Residence.
Xiao Yi stared at the overwhelming flood of messages on his phone, so terrified he had lost his wits.
Fang Yanting had failed.
Not only had he failed to mark Zhou Yunqiu, but Jiang Huaiyan had beaten him into a permanent disability. He was currently lying in the Intensive Care Unit, hovering between life and death.
If Jiang Huaiyan found out that he was the one who took Zhou Yunqiu away, wouldn’t he beat him into a cripple as well?
No, no… Xiao Yi tried to reason. He and Jiang Huaiyan were old acquaintances, after all, and he was an Omega. Jiang Huaiyan wouldn’t lay such a heavy hand on an Omega.
Yet, the fear remained.
Soaked in terror, he grabbed his identification documents and began pleading with his parents. “Dad, Mom, please let me leave. I’ll go crazy if I stay here any longer.”
“I’m begging you. Aren’t you just afraid I’ll back out of the marriage? I promise you, as long as you let me stay abroad for two months, I’ll marry the Alpha you introduced the moment I return.”
“If I don’t leave now, it will be too late.”
“Xiao Yi, why exactly are you in such a hurry to leave?” Mr. Xiao looked at Xiao Yi’s pale face, sensing that something was wrong. His son was clearly hiding from something.
“I have some business to handle abroad. I’ll be back as soon as it’s settled.”
However, just as the words left his mouth, the butler’s anxious voice came from the doorway: “Master, Madam, this man insisted on forcing his way in. Nothing I said could stop him.”
A tall silhouette appeared at the entrance.
Upon seeing the visitor, Xiao Yi’s face drained of all color. Two seconds later, his first instinct was to run.
“You plan to just abandon the parents who raised you?” Jiang Huaiyan’s cold voice echoed through the living room.
Xiao Yi froze in his tracks. He turned back, glaring at Jiang Huaiyan through tears. “What I did has nothing to do with them!”
“I remember telling you before,” Jiang Huaiyan’s eyes were icy, his entire being radiating a murderous aura, “that you cannot afford the price of provoking me.”
Mr. and Mrs. Xiao didn’t know what had transpired, but they recognized Jiang Huaiyan. He was Zhou Yunqiu’s bodyguard.
“Instead of protecting your employer, why have you come to my house speaking such strange words?” Mr. Xiao asked sternly.
“For that, you should ask your dear son what he’s done.” Jiang Huaiyan looked at Xiao Yi coldly. “Will you tell them, or should I?”
“Don’t… please don’t tell them, I beg you.” Xiao Yi collapsed onto the floor, his face full of supplication.
Jiang Huaiyan showed not a shred of sympathy. He turned to the shocked parents. “For the sake of a man who doesn’t love him, your ‘good son’ partnered with Fang Yanting to scheme against the childhood friend he grew up with.”
The parents’ expressions changed drastically. “You… you mean, Qiuqiu?”
“Indeed. Zhou Yunqiu trusted him so much, yet Xiao Yi exploited that trust to lure him away just as he was about to enter his heat. Do I really need to explain to you what it means to lure away an Omega who is on the verge of heat?”
Mr. Xiao had practically watched both children grow up. He truly hadn’t expected his own son to frame Zhou Yunqiu so maliciously. Infuriated, he walked over and delivered a sharp slap to Xiao Yi’s face. “Are you even human? This is a crime!”
Xiao Yi clutched his face, not daring to meet his father’s disappointed gaze.
“Now, I’m giving you a choice,” Jiang Huaiyan said, lifting his hand to check the time on his watch. “Save him, or abandon him? I said last time that if he provoked me again, I would make sure you all ended up on the streets with him.”
“But my Young Master is kind-hearted; he wouldn’t want to see the two of you suffering alongside this piece of trash. So, do you choose to save the Xiao family, or save him?”
There was agony in Mr. Xiao’s clear eyes. “Mr. Jiang, tomorrow I will take this animal to see Qiuqiu.”
“That won’t be necessary. You only need to make a choice.”
“Protect him, and I won’t leave the Xiao family standing. Protect the Xiao family, and I won’t leave him be.” Despite his status as a bodyguard, Jiang Huaiyan’s words sent an uncontrollable shiver down their spines.
“This choice is indeed a bit difficult. I can give you one night to consider.” Jiang Huaiyan checked his watch again. “Discuss it well tonight. I will send someone for your answer tomorrow morning.”
He turned to leave. At the door, he looked back once more. “Don’t think about sending him away. If you send him abroad, I have even more ways to make his life a living hell.”
With that, he departed the Xiao villa without looking back.
Although he wanted to kill Xiao Yi directly, that wouldn’t be satisfying enough. He wanted the parents to make the decision—no matter which one they chose, their hearts would be filled with excruciating pain.
What could be more cruel for a son than being abandoned by the parents who raised him? And what could be more cruel for a child than being discarded for the sake of power and wealth by the parents who had protected him for over twenty years?
Jiang Huaiyan didn’t just want to kill the person; he wanted to destroy the soul.
Returning to Zhou Yunqing’s villa, Jiang Huaiyan parked the car hurriedly and ran inside, desperate to see Zhou Yunqiu.
But just as he pushed the door open, a frantic set of footsteps sounded behind him.
He turned around quickly to see several men in uniforms approaching him. They flashed their badges. “Jiang Huaiyan? You are a suspect in an intentional homicide case. Please come with us.”
Jiang Huaiyan’s thick brows knit slightly.
Intentional homicide? Did Fang Yanting die?
He didn’t say much; as a suspect, any word he spoke now could affect the nature and outcome of the case. He made only one request: “I will go with you, but I need to go inside and see someone first.”
“No, you must come with us immediately.”
“I am currently only a suspect. There is a true victim inside waiting for me to check on him. Rest assured, once I’ve seen him, I will go with you.” Without waiting for their consent, Jiang Huaiyan turned to enter the villa.
He didn’t know how long he would be detained this time. He had to see Zhou Yunqiu one last time tonight.
Fearing he would flee, the officers quickly chased after him and restrained him. Jiang Huaiyan’s instinct was to fight back.
Hearing the commotion, Zhou Yunqing came downstairs and barked an order to stop Jiang Huaiyan’s counterattack: “Stop! Don’t be impulsive.”
“Eldest Master…” Jiang Huaiyan ceased his movements, allowing them to pin him down firmly.
“What is the meaning of this?” Zhou Yunqing looked coldly at the police.
The officers explained the purpose of their visit.
Zhou Yunqing suddenly laughed. “Who exactly committed intentional homicide? Logic doesn’t belong to whoever is more severely injured.”
“Mr. Zhou, we are simply following protocol.”
“You can take him,” Zhou Yunqing said, looking at Jiang Huaiyan, “but he is only a suspect right now. You must guarantee his safety. Go on then; I will find the best lawyer to get you out.”
“Thank you, Eldest Master. I want to see the Young Master one last time before I leave.” Jiang Huaiyan’s gaze drifted toward the second floor.
Even without seeing the person, the intense emotion in those deep eyes was enough to move anyone.
Zhou Yunqing also glanced upstairs. Just then, Zhou Yunqiu’s anxious shout came from above: “Brother, are you downstairs? Where is Jiang Huaiyan? Why isn’t he back yet?”
