Which Fierce Alpha Disguises as a Beta to Abduct a Wife? - Chapter 29
Zhou Yunqing frowned in disapproval. “Why are you making such reckless oaths?”
“I’m not being reckless. If you don’t keep your word, I’m the one who will suffer the bad luck.”
Zhou Yunqing: “…”
“So, for my sake, neither of you is allowed to do things like this ever again,” Zhou Yunqiu said with absolute sincerity.
“Fine,” Zhou Yunqing replied, equally serious.
Jiang Huaiyan also nodded. “Mm. Whatever the Little Young Master says, goes.”
Zhou Yunqiu hummed in satisfaction.
“Your fever is gone, right?” Zhou Yunqing reached out to feel his forehead. The temperature was normal, and his complexion had returned to health. “Since you’re recovered, you should head back first. I still need to stay here for two more days.”
“Then we’ll wait and go back with you, Brother. I won’t feel at ease if we leave you behind.”
“Suit yourself. I have to get back to work.” Seeing that Jiang Huaiyan was present, Zhou Yunqing felt much more relieved. After speaking, he hurried off to attend to his duties.
Zhou Yunqiu pulled Jiang Huaiyan down to sit on the bed, scrutinizing him closely. “I’m really, really, really not dreaming?”
“No. There is no such thing as a dream this realistic.”
Zhou Yunqiu curled his lip and began firing off a string of questions: Why did he only return now? What happened in the interim? Did he have any internal injuries?
Jiang Huaiyan followed the pre-arranged plan, answering each question one by one without leaving a single flaw. Feeling that the man before him was indeed a flesh-and-blood person, Zhou Yunqiu’s anxious, trembling heart finally settled back into place. He held Jiang Huaiyan in a long embrace, refusing to let go.
That Evening.
Zhou Yunqiu couldn’t sit still; he insisted on going out to have some fun. Left with no choice, Jiang Huaiyan took him to browse the local night market. They bought small trinkets and sampled local snacks. With Jiang Huaiyan by his side, Zhou Yunqiu had the time of his life, eating until his stomach was completely full.
However, when they returned to the hotel entrance, he refused to walk any further.
“Jiang Huaiyan, I’m so tired. Carry me back on your back.”
Jiang Huaiyan looked at the guests coming and going from the hotel and hesitated.
“Are you ashamed to be seen carrying me?” Zhou Yunqiu asked, sounding hurt.
“No.”
“Then carry me. If you don’t, I’m not going up.” Zhou Yunqiu began to act shamelessly.
Jiang Huaiyan couldn’t win against him, so he crouched down to let the boy climb onto his back. Zhou Yunqiu happily clung to him, pressing his head against the side of Jiang Huaiyan’s neck and inhaling. There was a faint, clean scent—it smelled wonderful.
Feeling the other’s breath, Jiang Huaiyan’s body stiffened slightly. The back of the neck was a sensitive area for their kind.
“Jiang Huaiyan, how long will you stay with me?” Zhou Yunqiu asked suddenly.
“Until you find an Alpha to marry.” Or perhaps, it wouldn’t even take that long. His plan was to leave as soon as the truth of the investigation was uncovered.
“What if I don’t look for an Alpha? Can you stay by my side forever?”
Jiang Huaiyan’s heart jolted, but in the end, he answered, “No.”
“Why?”
“Little Young Master, the person who can stay with you forever is your Alpha.”
“But I don’t want an Alpha.”
“You will want one in the future.”
Zhou Yunqiu stopped talking. He felt miserable and wanted to cry. It was all Jiang Huaiyan’s fault. If only he were an Alpha.
Suddenly, he pulled back Jiang Huaiyan’s collar, intending to leave his own Omega mark on the spot where this “Beta” supposedly had no gland. But as he did, he noticed something seemed to be pasted there. Though it was very discreet, a slight trace of an edge was visible.
He reached out to touch it.
Jiang Huaiyan suddenly shuddered all over. “What are you doing?” he asked, his voice trembling.
“I’m not doing anything. Do you have something stuck here?”
“It’s a medicinal patch; my neck has been feeling a bit uncomfortable.” Jiang Huaiyan spoke with extreme trepidation, terrified that Zhou Yunqiu would do what he did while drunk and rip off his pheromone-suppressing patch.
“A medicinal patch?” Zhou Yunqiu leaned in close to sniff it. “How come there isn’t any scent of medicine at all?”
Seeing that they had reached the hotel room door, Jiang Huaiyan immediately swiped the card, opened the door, and set Zhou Yunqiu down on the sofa. He retreated from the other’s touch as if escaping. “Not all medicinal patches have a scent.”
“I suppose so… though I feel like I’ve seen a patch like yours somewhere before.”
“Little Young Master, stop worrying about my affairs and focus on your exams instead.” Jiang Huaiyan quickly diverted his attention.
At the mention of exams, Zhou Yunqiu immediately pulled out his phone to review. He had been so focused on finding Jiang Huaiyan these past few days that his progress had fallen behind.
However, he hadn’t been studying long before Zhou Yunqing knocked and entered the room. “Pack your things. We’re heading back now.”
“Huh? Why?”
“Dad is in critical condition again.”
Zhou Yunqiu’s heart leaped into his throat. He hurried to pack his belongings. It had only been a few days since his father left the ICU, and now he was critical again… His heart sank.
Jiang Huaiyan also returned to his own room to pack. The group moved quickly, arriving at the airport in less than an hour.
“Hi, Little Young Master Zhou! What a coincidence.” A familiar figure suddenly walked toward Zhou Yunqiu to greet him.
Zhou Yunqiu looked up and first saw a pair of flirtatious “peach blossom” eyes. It was Duan Mingxu. Why was he here?
“And this must be… the eldest Young Master Zhou?” Duan Mingxu’s gaze suddenly locked onto Zhou Yunqing.
Zhou Yunqing was wearing a collared shirt, but his hair was slightly mussed. His suit jacket was draped over his arm, and the watch on his wrist highlighted his extraordinary temperament. Most notably, that face of his was “criminally” handsome.
Duan Mingxu stared, unable to look away.
It wasn’t until Zhou Yunqing gave him a cold, sweeping glance—a look that felt like it was slicing him into pieces on the spot—that he snapped out of it and rubbed his nose awkwardly.
Jiang Huaiyan gave Duan Mingxu a warning look before engaging him in normal conversation. “You’re heading back today too?”
“Yeah, on the same flight as you guys.” Duan Mingxu deliberately stepped behind Jiang Huaiyan and asked in a voice only the two of them could hear, “Is Zhou Yunqing really an Alpha?”
“Yes. He is incredibly skilled in combat and possesses a sharp mind. You should try to interact with him as little as possible.”
Duan Mingxu completely ignored the warning. “Sounds like quite a challenge.”
Jiang Huaiyan: “…Get a grip. He fought me to a draw even while he was holding back. Don’t provoke him; he could kill you with one punch.”
Duan Mingxu: “…For real?”
“If you don’t believe me, go try it.”
Duan Mingxu silently took a few steps back, increasing the distance between them. Jiang Huaiyan followed behind Zhou Yunqiu, satisfied.
In the first-class cabin, as they took their seats, Duan Mingxu was pleasantly surprised to find himself sitting next to Zhou Yunqing. However, the moment Zhou Yunqing boarded the plane, he closed his eyes it was unclear if he was deep in thought or already asleep. Duan Mingxu wanted to say hello but felt too shy, so he could only endure the silence.
Throughout the flight, he occasionally stole glances at Zhou Yunqing’s strikingly handsome face, liking what he saw more and more.
Jiang Huaiyan was unaware of Duan Mingxu’s little schemes; he was busy opening snacks for Zhou Yunqiu.
Zhou Yunqiu ate happily. “Find a movie for me to watch.”
“What kind of movie do you want to see?”
“Let’s find a sci-fi film.”
Jiang Huaiyan found one and started the playback. Zhou Yunqiu enjoyed his snacks while watching. Seeing him so comfortable made Jiang Huaiyan feel a warmth in his own heart.
Just as he was about to rest for a bit, a notification chimed on his phone. He took it out, looked at it, and then furrowed his brows as he glanced at Duan Mingxu, who was sitting diagonally across from him.
Duan Mingxu gestured to him, using mouthing words to urge him to hurry up.
