- Which Fierce Alpha Disguises as a Beta to Abduct a Wife?
- Chapter 2 - Am I Better Looking, or Is That Omega Better Looking?
“What’s with that expression? Are you dissatisfied?” Zhou Yunqiu suddenly reached out with malicious intent. “Then why don’t you show me what you’re capable of?”
“Little Master!” Jiang Huaiyan abruptly grabbed his wrist, pushing him away from his body. “Stop messing around. I am just your bodyguard.”
“Then listen to me and stay here while I lie down,” Zhou Yunqiu ordered with a cold face. “You are not allowed to leave until I fall asleep.”
Jiang Huaiyan suppressed the fire raging within his body with all his might, helplessly lying back down beside him.
Zhou Yunqiu pressed closer, unceremoniously using Jiang Huaiyan’s arm as a pillow, drinking in the familiar scent clinging to the man.
He didn’t know why, but even though this man was clearly a Beta, his scent made Zhou Yunqiu—an Omega—feel incredibly comforted.
A long while later, Zhou Yunqiu fell into a deep sleep.
Jiang Huaiyan rose impatiently and headed to the empty garden, where he injected himself with another dose of high-potency suppressant.
He felt that if this continued… his rut might come early.
What would he do then?
Except for sleeping hours, Zhou Yunqiu demanded that Jiang Huaiyan stay by his side at all times.
Reason told him he should leave. His body had already developed a resistance to high-potency suppressants; he was no longer fit to continue masquerading as a Beta.
In the past, when Zhou Yunqiu was in heat, Jiang Huaiyan only needed one injection to maintain control. Now, he needed two or even three.
But the truth had not yet been uncovered; he couldn’t leave.
Two years ago, in order to investigate the cause of his mother’s death, he concealed his identity as an S-Class Alpha and disguised himself as a Beta to become Zhou Yunqiu’s bodyguard.
Over these two years, every time Zhou Yunqiu went into heat, it was Jiang Huaiyan who administered the suppressants.
He didn’t know how much longer he could hold back from devouring Zhou Yunqiu whole.
Three days later, Zhou Yunqiu safely passed his heat cycle and returned to full vitality. “Brothers, see you at the usual spot. Be there or be square.”
He sent Jiang Huaiyan away ahead of time, changed into a flashy outfit, and drove the Ferrari his brother had gifted him to “The Summit.”
This was the most decadent establishment in City A.
There was no form of entertainment you could imagine that The Summit didn’t provide. Whether it was wealthy young heirs or top-tier celebrities from the entertainment industry, they all loved to play here.
After parking his car and passing through the first-floor lobby, Zhou Yunqiu overheard people gossiping about him.
“Did you hear? That willful, reckless Omega from the Zhou family is about to be dumped by Fang Yanting.”
“I heard. Three days ago, Fang Yanting held a birthday banquet here for another Omega. He dropped ten million on it—it’s clear he doesn’t give a damn about the Zhou family’s Omega.”
“If I were him, I wouldn’t care either. Now that his father is bedridden, those old foxes in the Zhou family aren’t easy to deal with. Even with his brother, Zhou Yunqing, there, they might not be able to handle it.”
“Besides his face, what capital does he have left to be so arrogant?”
“Haha… it’s not the first time Fang Yanting has kept an Omega on the side. It’s only a matter of time before the young Master Zhou is abandoned. With that nasty temper of his, who would dare want him then?”
“But that face of his really is something else. He’s a sight for sore eyes. Once he’s dumped, maybe we can…” The men looked at each other and let out lewd, wretched laughs.
But their laughter didn’t last long. A basin of water was hurled toward them, leaving them drenched and stunned.
“Are you awake now?” Zhou Yunqiu asked with a cold sneer as he tossed the basin aside.
A cleaner rushed over and saw that the water had been splashed all over several clearly wealthy young men; she began to tremble in fear.
“It has nothing to do with you. I snatched the basin and I splashed the people. Get lost,” Zhou Yunqiu said. Still feeling unsatisfied, he reached out and twisted one man’s ear. “You said ‘maybe we can’—what exactly?”
“You want to sleep with me? You’d better see if you have the ability first.” Zhou Yunqiu glanced at them contemptuously. “Look at how sallow your faces are. You must spend every night at the clubs. How many minutes could you even last?”
He patted the man’s face. “Can you even manage three minutes?”
“If you can’t even hold out for three minutes, what’s the point of keeping that thing? Might as well cut it off early.”
One of the men snapped back to his senses, grabbing a wine bottle from the table to smash it over Zhou Yunqiu’s head.
A large hand clamped onto his wrist. Though the man didn’t seem to be using much force, the attacker was rendered unable to move.
The man looked at the person holding him with eyes full of terror.
He recognized this expressionless man—he was Zhou Yunqiu’s personal bodyguard.
Although he was a “Beta,” he was more fierce than an S-Class Alpha.
With a slight application of pressure, the sound of shifting bones crunched.
The man cried out in pain, and the wine bottle slipped from his hand.
Zhou Yunqiu caught it quickly. Emboldened by Jiang Huaiyan’s presence, he smashed the bottle directly onto the man’s head. “Since when is it your turn to judge my business? Don’t you know what kind of trash you are?”
For a moment, the room was filled with wretched screams.
Zhou Yunqiu still wasn’t satisfied, but the owner of The Summit had already walked over.
The owner dangled a cigarette from his lips, his flirtatious peach-blossom eyes sweeping over Jiang Huaiyan. “Which blind bastard dared to ruin Little Master Zhou’s fun? Leave it to me to handle. I guarantee you’ll be satisfied, Little Master.”
“I’ll leave it to you then.” Zhou Yunqiu lost all interest in playing. He turned to walk out.
Jiang Huaiyan gave the owner a meaningful look before quickly following Zhou Yunqiu.
Just as they reached the entrance, Zhou Yunqiu suddenly turned around and threw himself into Jiang Huaiyan’s arms. “Take me away, quickly! Fang Yanting is outside.”
Jiang Huaiyan glanced out.
He saw Fang Yanting walking in from the outside, accompanied by a beautiful Omega.
He withdrew his cold gaze and ushered Zhou Yunqiu out through the side door.
The late autumn night breeze wasn’t cold yet, but Zhou Yunqiu shivered several times in his arms.
“Are you cold?” Jiang Huaiyan asked.
“No.” Zhou Yunqiu lifted his head from his chest, the corners of his eyes slightly red.
“I’ll take you back.”
“Jiang Huaiyan.” Zhou Yunqiu suddenly called his name seriously.
Jiang Huaiyan waited quietly for what was to come next.
“Am I better looking, or is that Omega better looking?”
Jiang Huaiyan: “…”
“Is that a hard question to answer?”
“Little Master, you should go back and rest.” He had just finished his heat; he needed to focus on recovering his health.
“You are so boring. I’m going to the hospital.” Zhou Yunqiu turned around angrily.
Jiang Huaiyan followed quickly. “Are you feeling unwell?”
“I’m going to see my dad,” Zhou Yunqiu snapped, rolling his eyes at him.
Jiang Huaiyan paused for a moment, then started the car to take Zhou Yunqiu to the hospital.
The Hospital.
Zhou Yunqiu stared at the man lying on the hospital bed, lost in thought.
What should he do now?
It was common knowledge that Fang Yanting didn’t like him.
He had mentioned breaking the engagement several times before, but his father had always refused.
This marriage was framed as a continuation of the long-standing friendship between the Zhou and Fang families, but in reality, it was a business alliance to tighten the cooperation between their corporations.
When his father was still healthy, no matter how much Fang Yanting disliked him, he wouldn’t act out too much—at least not blatantly spending millions on other Omegas.
Now that his father was bedridden, Fang Yanting seemed unable to wait any longer.
If that was the case, Zhou Yunqiu would make sure to strip a layer of skin off Fang Yanting. After all, this marriage was doomed anyway.
“Let’s go home,” Zhou Yunqiu turned and left.
Jiang Huaiyan glanced at the man lying in the ward, a chill flashing through his eyes.
He drove Zhou Yunqiu home. “Little Master, if there is nothing else, I will head out?”
“Who said there’s nothing else? Run a bath for me.”
“Auntie Chen is—”
Zhou Yunqiu interrupted him. “I want you to run it.”
Jiang Huaiyan said nothing more and went to prepare the bath.
Zhou Yunqiu leaned against the doorframe, watching Jiang Huaiyan’s sexy silhouette. He suddenly asked with a smile, “Jiang Huaiyan, if your boyfriend knew you stayed with an Omega like me every day, would he be angry?”
“I don’t have a boyfriend.”
“What about a girlfriend?”
Jiang Huaiyan sensed Zhou Yunqiu was digging a hole for him and didn’t respond.
“If you don’t answer, I’ll assume you don’t have one,” Zhou Yunqiu teased with a laugh.
Teasing this wooden bodyguard had become one of the joys of his life.
“Bring me another glass of wine.” Zhou Yunqiu’s slender fingers moved to the collar of his shirt, unbuttoning it without any sign of hesitation.
His fair chest entered Jiang Huaiyan’s line of sight.
Jiang Huaiyan hurriedly looked away and went out to pour the wine.
Zhou Yunqiu had a low tolerance for alcohol but was still greedy for it. Jiang Huaiyan only poured him half a glass.
“I want a full glass! I said a full glass!” Zhou Yunqiu leaned back in the bathtub, acting out with a petty temper.
Jiang Huaiyan spoke earnestly, “Little Master, your tolerance is low. It’s not suitable for you to drink much.”
“I’m at home anyway, it doesn’t matter. Go fill it up, or you aren’t allowed to leave tonight.” Zhou Yunqiu glared at Jiang Huaiyan through gritted teeth.
Jiang Huaiyan had no choice but to fill it to the brim.
“Fine, you can go now.” After Jiang Huaiyan left, Zhou Yunqiu took a satisfied sip.
The aroma of the wine hit his throat, sweet and thirst-quenching; it was his favorite flavor.
And yet… he couldn’t feel happy in his heart.
He knew clearly that this wasn’t because of Fang Yanting.
Even though he and Fang Yanting had known each other since childhood and had been engaged for three years, their relationship had never been particularly good. Moreover, Fang Yanting had always refused to mark him.
Every time he was in heat, it was Jiang Huaiyan who stayed by his side.
If only Jiang Huaiyan were an Alpha.
No, no… if Jiang Huaiyan were an Alpha, he couldn’t be his bodyguard.
So, he had to be a Beta—a Beta who couldn’t be disturbed by any pheromones.
But why did he have to be a Beta?
There were so many Alphas in this world; why wasn’t there one who loved only him?
He continued to drink gloomily. One glass was no longer enough to satisfy his craving.
He stood up, loosely threw on a bathrobe, and walked out swaying unsteadily.
He turned on all the lights in the room before pouring himself another full glass.
After three consecutive glasses, he was mostly drunk.
Jiang Huaiyan was worried about him and hadn’t actually left.
He had made a phone call downstairs and then came back up, only to find Zhou Yunqiu sitting on the floor with a wine glass, looking distressed.
The bathrobe was slightly open, revealing the scenery within.
Jiang Huaiyan held his breath and approached, patting his shoulder. “Little Master, go to sleep in bed.”
Zhou Yunqiu opened his blurry eyes. “Why are you still here?”
Jiang Huaiyan didn’t answer. “I’ll carry you to bed.” As he spoke, he picked him up and walked toward the bed.
As he was about to set him down, Zhou Yunqiu’s hand suddenly landed on the side of his neck. “What is this thing stuck here?”
Before Jiang Huaiyan could stop him, Zhou Yunqiu had already swiftly ripped off the pheromone-blocking patch.
