- Chapter 16 - How Many Alphas Can Resist the Temptation of an Omega?
This… this was something he couldn’t help with at all.
“I really like him so much. I’ve liked him since two years ago, but I couldn’t return to the country back then, so I’ve been dragging it out until now.”
“When I returned, I swore that if I ever saw him again, I would never let go of his hand.”
“I want to be his Omega. Qiuqiu, please help me. I’ll die without him.”
Zhou Yunqiu keenly caught the crux of the issue: “You two have known each other for two years?”
Xiao Yi nodded while crying. “Back then, I was very unhappy because of the Alpha my family arranged for me. I was living in a daze every day and almost got raped by an Alpha. It was Jiang Huaiyan who saved me.”
“In my heart, he is my hero. I truly can’t be with anyone but him.”
Zhou Yunqiu’s lips thinned into a tight line. He hadn’t expected the two of them to have such a history. Two years ago that was before he had even met Jiang Huaiyan himself.
But he didn’t want to hand Jiang Huaiyan over to Xiao Yi. Yet, Xiao Yi was a friend he had grown up with…
“Qiuqiu, as long as you create opportunities for me, I can win him over.” Xiao Yi’s eyes were filled with determination.
After thinking for a long time, Zhou Yunqiu decided to tell the truth.
“Xiao Yi, I’m sorry. I can’t help you with this.”
Xiao Yi froze. “Wh—Why?” To him, this should have been a very simple favor.
“Because I’ve set my sights on him too.” Zhou Yunqiu didn’t hide it. He was determined to have Jiang Huaiyan, and since Xiao Yi was a good friend, he didn’t want to deceive him or let him stay immersed in a one-sided relationship with no future.
Hearing this, Xiao Yi’s face was the picture of shock. “You… you…”
“He is my bodyguard. He stays with me every day. I am very confident that I can win him over.”
“No!” Xiao Yi cried out in a breakdown. “How can you be with him? You already have a fiancé!”
“That fiancé is just a decoration. I can kick him to the curb whenever I want. Besides, you have a fiancé too, and getting rid of yours is much harder than getting rid of mine.”
“That’s still not okay!” Xiao Yi’s tears fell uncontrollably. He grabbed Zhou Yunqiu’s hand tightly, pleading piteously, “Qiuqiu, I beg you, let me have him. There are so many Alphas in the world; you can pick whoever you want.”
“But there is only one Jiang Huaiyan, and he’s the only one I want.” Zhou Yunqiu was very rational and very realistic.
He wouldn’t give up the person he liked for the sake of a friend, even one he had grown up with. He didn’t have that much of a self-sacrificing spirit; he only wanted to make himself happy.
“I’m sorry,” he apologized sincerely.
Seeing his firm stance, Xiao Yi stopped begging. “I won’t give up either. Since we both want him, then let’s see who’s more capable.”
“Qiuqiu, I will definitely win.”
Zhou Yunqiu smiled dismissively. “Don’t speak too soon.”
“I have that confidence.” After all, Xiao Yi knew Jiang Huaiyan was an S-rank Alpha. How many Alphas can resist the temptation of an Omega?
“Then it’s every person for themselves.”
Leaving the room, Zhou Yunqiu looked toward Jiang Huaiyan.
In those eyes, which were usually as calm as still water, there was a trace of undeniable worry. Seeing that Zhou Yunqiu had come out looking normal, Jiang Huaiyan shifted his gaze back to the laptop in his hands.
Zhou Yunqiu curled his lips and went back to playing with his friends. After playing games for over two hours, everyone was tired. Yu Shaoqin suggested watching a movie—a horror one.
“Are you sure you want to watch a horror movie?” Zhou Yunqiu doubted the suggestion.
“Of course! With this many people, it’s the perfect time for a horror flick. I’d never dare watch one alone.”
“What about the rest of you?” Zhou Yunqiu consulted the others. No one had any objections.
Zhou Yunqiu shrugged. “Then let’s watch it.”
Before long, the room was filled with the terrified screams of several Omegas. Zhou Yunqiu looked at them, speechless. Every single one of them was a coward who loved the thrill. Only he and Jiang Huaiyan weren’t scared at all.
Jiang Huaiyan was looking at him calmly. Zhou Yunqiu suddenly realized he should probably put on an act. This was such a good opportunity.
“Ah!” He screamed as he stood up and dove straight into Jiang Huaiyan’s arms. “So scary! It’s so frightening!”
Jiang Huaiyan: “…Your behavior is scarier than the movie.”
“No it isn’t! I’m really, truly scared!”
“You’re a bit late with the acting.”
“Oh, just pretend you don’t know!” Zhou Yunqiu said in a high-pitched, cutesy voice, nuzzling his head into Jiang Huaiyan’s chest.
Jiang Huaiyan instinctively tried to push him away.
“Do you know what Xiao Yi just said to me?” Zhou Yunqiu’s words made Jiang Huaiyan stop his movements.
“What did he say?”
“Give me a kiss and I’ll tell you.”
Jiang Huaiyan continued to push him.
“Alright, I’ll tell you! He asked me to help him pursue you. Guess if I agreed?”
“Do I even need to guess?” In this young master’s world, there was only room for others to give way to him; he never gave way to anyone else.
Zhou Yunqiu laughed. “You really do know me best. What should I do? I like you even more now.”
“Sit up properly.” Jiang Huaiyan was starting to feel the heat from the other’s constant rubbing.
“No. If I’m not mistaken, Xiao Yi is probably watching us right now. If you push me away now, it’ll make him think he still has a chance. He just declared war on me, saying he’s determined to win.”
Jiang Huaiyan glanced in Xiao Yi’s direction and indeed saw him looking at them with a pale face.
“See?”
“Mm.”
“If you don’t want him to keep pestering you, then hold me tight and crush his hopes.” To fight with this Young Master, you’re still a bit too green.
Jiang Huaiyan shifted his hand from pushing Zhou Yunqiu to wrapping it around him, patting him lightly. Xiao Yi’s expression twisted in anger, and he got up and walked out. The others, who were busy screaming at the movie, didn’t even notice his departure.
“Don’t you want to chase after him and check?” Zhou Yunqiu’s fingers traced circles on Jiang Huaiyan’s chest.
Jiang Huaiyan’s breathing tightened as he caught the restless hand. “No.”
“How heartless.” But Zhou Yunqiu was happy.
“Get up,” Jiang Huaiyan urged.
This time Zhou Yunqiu didn’t persist. He walked over to Yu Shaoqin and patted him. “Stop watching. Xiao Yi left. Go see him off.”
“Huh? Why?”
“I’ll tell you later. Just go, quickly. Make sure he gets home safely.” A heartbroken Omega shouldn’t be traveling alone. Xiao Yi was still his friend, after all; he didn’t want anything bad to happen to him.
“Fine, I’m going. But you have to finish this movie with me next time!”
“Yes, yes, I’ll watch it with you.”
Yu Shaoqin left, satisfied. The remaining friends stayed until the movie ended before taking their leave. Once everyone was gone, the room fell completely silent.
Zhou Yunqiu felt a bit lonely and looked at Jiang Huaiyan. “Should we go out for a stroll?”
“No.” It might be dangerous outside.
“Then will you play with me?”
Jiang Huaiyan: “…” Was this ‘play’ a verb for an activity, or a verb for… him?
“You choose.”
“Where do you want to go?” Jiang Huaiyan yielded.
“Let’s go to your place.”
Jiang Huaiyan: “…” He really wanted to crack open Zhou Yunqiu’s head to see if there was anything inside besides “yellow” (lewd) thoughts.
Zhou Yunqiu was about to tease him further when his phone suddenly rang. It was Yu Shaoqin.
His heart skipped a beat, and a bad premonition washed over him. He answered the call immediately.
“Qiuqiu! Xiao Yi refused to get in my car and took a taxi instead. I lost him. His parents say he hasn’t arrived home yet. Could something have happened to him?”
