- Chapter 15 - Xiao Yi Has Hugged Jiang Huaiyan!
“Retired special forces, no parents why do you ask?” Zhou Yunqing’s voice sounded a bit suspicious over the phone. “Is something wrong?”
“Nothing. I just have a particularly good impression of him right now.”
“Zhou Yunqiu, you better behave yourself. He is just your bodyguard,” Zhou Yunqing warned in a cold tone.
Zhou Yunqiu hummed. “I know, I know. I’ll make sure he does his job as my bodyguard well—protecting everything of mine.”
“Don’t go causing any trouble.”
“Then why don’t you help me check his relationship with Duan Mingxu? The two of them have been getting quite close.”
“You’re actually worried about them getting together?” Zhou Yunqing was shocked.
“Exactly! Jiang Huaiyan is a Beta, so he could look for an Alpha. And it just so happens that Duan Mingxu is a very scheming Alpha.” To dare and try to snatch someone from this Young Master—how outrageous!
Zhou Yunqing criticized him without mercy: “No one is more scheming than you.”
“Brother!”
“I’ll let you know when I find something. Just stay on your best behavior lately, and don’t leave Jiang Huaiyan’s sight.”
“I’m hanging up now; I’m going back to Jiang Huaiyan’s side this instant.” He hung up immediately, giving Zhou Yunqing no chance to continue lecturing him.
Once he finished his meal, he headed quickly downstairs to the parking lot. Inside the car, Jiang Huaiyan was looking at his phone, his brows tightly knit.
“What are you looking at? You’re so serious,” Zhou Yunqiu asked as he got in.
Jiang Huaiyan put his phone away and glanced at his face. He still looks better when he’s smiling—especially that radiant, happy smile he had while eating with Fang Yanting.
“Are you and Fang Yanting back together?” he couldn’t help but ask.
“Hm? Were you just looking at the PR statement Fang Yanting’s side released?” Zhou Yunqiu looked up in surprise.
Jiang Huaiyan started the car, feeling a bit guilty. “I happened to come across it while scrolling.”
“How do you feel about it?” A hint of anticipation flashed in Zhou Yunqiu’s beautiful eyes. This was the first time Jiang Huaiyan had ever proactively asked about his business with Fang Yanting.
“I don’t feel anything,” Jiang Huaiyan replied in a flat voice.
The spark of anticipation in Zhou Yunqiu’s eyes faded. He pouted. “Don’t you think I acted well? I put on my best performance.”
Jiang Huaiyan’s heart gave a sudden thump. So… he didn’t actually reconcile with Fang Yanting! A small surge of joy quietly crept into his heart.
“This afternoon is a bit boring. I think I’ll call a few friends over to hang out. What do you think?” Zhou Yunqiu asked. Jiang Huaiyan had been with him for a while, but he didn’t seem to enjoy meeting his friends.
“The Young Master decides.” Jiang Huaiyan was a bodyguard; he had no reason to interfere in his employer’s life.
“Will you be unhappy?”
“My feelings are not important.”
“But I think they are very important. Jiang Huaiyan, besides my brother, you are the only other person I consider very important.” Zhou Yunqiu looked at his face and spoke seriously.
As for how much of that was true or false, he didn’t even know himself. He just wanted Jiang Huaiyan to know that he was different. Besides his brother, no one else would always protect him.
These words successfully struck a chord in Jiang Huaiyan’s heart. He exercised extreme self-control to ensure not a shred of emotion leaked out.
“Thank you for your regard, Young Master, but I am merely a bodyguard.”
“You really are impossible to get through to.” Zhou Yunqiu got angry and stopped caring about his feelings. He invited several friends over to play, setting the location in his hotel suite.
An hour later, Zhou Yunqiu’s friends arrived. There were Omegas, Betas, and also Xiao Yi.
Seeing Xiao Yi made Zhou Yunqiu a little awkward. Because of the situation with Jiang Huaiyan, he had purposely avoided inviting him. He laughed awkwardly, “Xiao Yi, didn’t you go out with your fiancé? I heard you two had plans, so I didn’t call you for fear of disturbing you.”
Xiao Yi unconsciously glanced at Jiang Huaiyan, who was nearby. “There’s nothing between us. Our families are currently discussing canceling the engagement.”
“Why?” Zhou Yunqiu feigned surprise, stealing a glance at Jiang Huaiyan. He felt relieved when he saw that Jiang Huaiyan showed no reaction.
“Because I have someone I like,” Xiao Yi smiled, his eyes frequently drifting toward Jiang Huaiyan.
“Oh my, who could it be? To make our darling give up such an excellent fiancé.”
Just as Xiao Yi was about to speak, Jiang Huaiyan, who was sitting in the corner, suddenly stood up. “Young Master, you guys enjoy yourselves. I’ll go out and buy some snacks for everyone.”
“Great! I want yogurt, and I also want…” Zhou Yunqiu rattled off a list of snacks.
Jiang Huaiyan remembered every single one and quickly exited the room.
Xiao Yi suddenly said, “Qiuqiu, I just remembered I left something in my car. I’m going to go grab it.”
Zhou Yunqiu’s expression shifted slightly, though his smile remained. “Go ahead. Hurry back once you get it; we’re waiting for you to play games.”
“Okay.” Xiao Yi ran out.
Zhou Yunqiu turned a sharp gaze toward Yu Shaoqin, who was already sitting on the sofa eating. He walked over and gave him a kick.
“What?” Yu Shaoqin asked, confused.
“What do you think? ‘What’?” Zhou Yunqiu jerked his chin toward the door.
Yu Shaoqin understood instantly. “Oh! I forgot the gift I brought for you too. I’ll go get it right now, right now.”
Satisfied, Zhou Yunqiu sat down to entertain his other friends. Amidst the chatter, he received a message from Yu Shaoqin.
“The two of them have met up.”
Zhou Yunqiu’s expression turned cold.
“Xiao Yi wants to talk to your bodyguard, but your bodyguard is ignoring him.”
The frost on Zhou Yunqiu’s face thawed slightly.
“Xiao Yi hugged Jiang Huaiyan!” This time, Yu Shaoqin even sent a photo. In the picture, Xiao Yi was hugging Jiang Huaiyan tightly from behind.
Anger flared in Zhou Yunqiu’s chest, and he nearly crushed his phone.
“Good news: your bodyguard shook him off and gave him the cold shoulder.”
Zhou Yunqiu took a deep breath and closed his eyes.
“Qiuqiu, did something happen?” A friend nearby noticed his change in mood and asked cautiously.
“It’s nothing. I was just looking at those rumors about my fiancé cheating—it’s upsetting.”
“Then don’t look at them. But what do you plan to do?”
“Play with him for a bit first, then dump him, obviously.”
“Good idea.”
Zhou Yunqiu gave a hollow smile. He couldn’t help but look at his phone again. This time, Yu Shaoqin had vanished; there were no more messages.
He sent a text: “Where’s the informant?”
After a long while, Yu Shaoqin replied: “Consoling Xiao Yi. Your bodyguard is too heartless; he rejected him directly.”
Zhou Yunqiu: “…” Well, having said that… he did a great job. His bodyguard was only allowed to be gentle with one person!
Satisfied, he put his phone down and continued playing games with his friends. Before long, Jiang Huaiyan returned carrying bags of snacks.
“Jiang Huaiyan, do you want to play games with us?”
“No, I’ll just sit over there. You all enjoy yourselves.”
“That’s fine.” As long as he doesn’t leave my sight; I need to be able to see him at all times.
A while later, Yu Shaoqin and Xiao Yi returned. Xiao Yi’s eyes were red and swollen—he had clearly just been crying.
Zhou Yunqiu asked with feigned concern, “What happened? Who broke your heart?”
“Qiuqiu, can I talk to you privately for a moment?”
“Sure, come to my room.” Zhou Yunqiu stood up and looked at Jiang Huaiyan.
Jiang Huaiyan showed no reaction, nor did he have any intention of stopping them. Zhou Yunqiu pouted and led Xiao Yi into the room.
Once the door was closed, Xiao Yi grabbed Zhou Yunqiu’s hand and cried, “Qiuqiu, I like Jiang Huaiyan. Can you please help me?”
