- Which Fierce Alpha Disguises as a Beta to Abduct a Wife?
- Chapter 14 - The Abacus Beads Hit Him Right in the Face
Jiang Huaiyan wanted to bully him until he cried.
However, his strength was too great, and he ended up hurting the Omega. The Omega, eyes brimming with tears, tried to flee. He wouldn’t let him.
The Omega whimpered and sobbed; those tear-filled, misty eyes drove Jiang Huaiyan mad. Instinctively, he bared his teeth, releasing a flood of domineering Alpha pheromones meant to conquer.
But the moment his teeth touched the other’s skin, he was jolted back by the sudden realization of their identities.
He could not mark Zhou Yunqiu. He simply couldn’t.
Not only was it forbidden, but he also couldn’t allow the other to discover that he was actually an Alpha.
Pheromones!
Jiang Huaiyan fought against the raging fire coursing through his body, forcing himself to wake from the beautiful dream. When he opened his eyes, his vision was a blur of crimson. Without time for deep thought, he immediately got up to ventilate the room.
Fortunately, he had awakened early enough that the concentration of pheromones wasn’t high. Otherwise, every Omega within a hundred-meter radius would have been affected. He promptly injected himself with another dose of high-effect suppressant.
The fire in his body cooled rapidly.
He cautiously went to the neighboring room to check on Zhou Yunqiu. Zhou Yunqiu’s sleep seemed restless, perhaps affected by the pheromones after all. Being so close to him, this Omega was the first to suffer the consequences.
Jiang Huaiyan sighed helplessly and released a trace of soothing pheromones for Zhou Yunqiu. Upon receiving the Alpha’s comforting scent, Zhou Yunqiu’s furrowed brows smoothed over. He even unconsciously curled his lips into a smile and mumbled something.
Jiang Huaiyan couldn’t hear him clearly. Curious, he leaned in, pressing his ear close to the other’s lips.
“Eat you…”
“Jiang Huaiyan, this Young Master… is going to eat you up.”
“Don’t run… stay still and let me kiss you.”
“Jiang Huaiyan… Jiang Huaiyan…”
Those unconscious words made Jiang Huaiyan’s heart race and his cheeks burn hot. He didn’t dare stay a second longer and hurried out of Zhou Yunqiu’s room.
Zhou Yunqiu slept very comfortably. Upon waking, he even found his favorite breakfast waiting for him.
“Did you buy this?” he asked, looking at Jiang Huaiyan, who was sitting nearby.
“Yes.”
“I remember this shop doesn’t offer delivery and it’s quite far from here. Did you go yourself?”
“I couldn’t sleep, so I went out for a walk.”
Zhou Yunqiu raised an eyebrow. “You couldn’t sleep because of me?”
Jiang Huaiyan: “…” Asking the obvious.
“Ah, you. You’re too pure—you can’t take a joke.”
Jiang Huaiyan: “…” So now it’s my fault?
“Tell you what, starting today, I’ll teach you how to handle a beauty’s advances.” Zhou Yunqiu tapped his chest with a spirit of self-sacrifice. “I’ll let you practice on me, how about that?”
“Not interested.”
“You aren’t allowed to refuse. I’m doing this for your own good.”
Jiang Huaiyan reached his limit and rolled his eyes at Zhou Yunqiu. The “abacus beads” of the other’s scheme were practically hitting him in the face.
Zhou Yunqiu wasn’t angry at all. He was about to continue his blatant attempt to swindle Jiang Huaiyan when his phone rang. The caller was Fang Yanting. He didn’t want to answer immediately, so he tossed the phone aside.
“It’s a call from Young Master Fang,” Jiang Huaiyan reminded him.
Zhou Yunqiu gave him an annoyed glare. “I’m not blind.”
“Then why aren’t you answering? What if it’s an emergency?”
“What emergency could he possibly have? Calling me at this hour is nothing more than asking me to cooperate with his acting.” Unless there was a specific reason, Fang Yanting never reached out first. He only sought him out when he needed something.
The phone continued to ring incessantly. Seeing that enough time had passed, he answered irritably, “What is it? I just woke up.”
“Let’s have lunch,” Fang Yanting’s voice came through the phone.
“Sorry, I already have plans for lunch.”
“What about dinner?”
“I have plans for dinner, too.”
“Qiuqiu, cancel your lunch plans. I need you to help me clear things up.”
“Whether it’s to clear things up or to cover things up, you know the truth in your heart,” Zhou Yunqiu said crossly.
“Name your price.”
“Fine. You pick the place.” Zhou Yunqiu’s attitude did a complete 180-degree turn, agreeing instantly with a beaming smile.
Watching him, Jiang Huaiyan thought: “…” What a ruthless Omega. Thank goodness he isn’t mine.
“Don’t think I don’t know you’re criticizing me in your head,” Zhou Yunqiu huffed, continuing his breakfast. “He’s given me so many ‘green hats’ (cheated on me); he deserves whatever he gets.”
If Fang Yanting didn’t cherish his own Alpha status, he certainly shouldn’t expect Zhou Yunqiu to cherish him. There were plenty of men out there; he wasn’t tied to Fang Yanting.
At noon, Zhou Yunqiu and Fang Yanting had lunch. During the meal, Zhou Yunqiu successfully secured several new investments for his older brother, Zhou Yunqing. With the reward in place, he was naturally very cooperative.
When Zhou Yunqiu served him food, his face was like a blooming flower, brimming with the scent of happiness. A hidden camera immediately captured this scene, sending it to the PR team to debunk the rumors of Fang Yanting’s infidelity. With the couple appearing to be in such high spirits, the rumors naturally collapsed.
Fang Yanting looked at Zhou Yunqiu’s beautiful face and suddenly asked, “When is your next heat cycle?”
The smile on Zhou Yunqiu’s face stiffened slightly. What does he mean? The last time he had approached him, Fang Yanting had dumped him on Jiang Huaiyan. Now he was asking?
Fang Yanting took his hand. “How about… I mark you first?”
Zhou Yunqiu’s heart tightened. “Why?”
“My parents want a grandchild; they’ve been pestering me constantly,” Fang Yanting sighed helplessly.
Zhou Yunqiu smiled and withdrew his hand. “Then I’m afraid I’ll have to disappoint you.”
“Qiuqiu, what do you mean?” Fang Yanting narrowed his eyes.
“If you stay with me, your parents will never have a grandchild,” Zhou Yunqiu said bluntly.
Fang Yanting: “…” The affection in his eyes instantly turned to ash.
To him, this meant that marrying Zhou Yunqiu would cost him his right to be a father. He could not give that up. However, his parents were set on Zhou Yunqiu. Knowing Zhou Yunqiu wouldn’t agree to his suggestion right now, he said, “We’ll discuss this later.”
“Whatever you say.” Zhou Yunqiu didn’t want to make things unpleasant. They wouldn’t be getting married anyway.
For the rest of the meal, the food tasted like ash to Fang Yanting, and he soon couldn’t help but leave first. He had the photos; there was no need to keep up the act.
Zhou Yunqiu didn’t care. He finished eating at his own pace, calling his older brother as he ate. “Brother, are there any other projects we need Fang Yanting’s help with?”
“No. Can we cancel the engagement now?” Zhou Yunqing asked seriously.
“But I haven’t played enough yet. I want to give him a ‘green hat’ of his own first.”
“Don’t be reckless. I’ll help you teach him a lesson.”
“I don’t need your help. I can handle it myself, trust me.”
Zhou Yunqing sighed helplessly.
“Brother, I want to ask you something.” Zhou Yunqiu glanced outside to ensure Jiang Huaiyan wasn’t nearby, then lowered his voice. “When you hired Jiang Huaiyan to be my bodyguard, did you check his background?”
“Of course. I wouldn’t let him protect you without knowing who he is.”
“What did he do before? What’s his family background?” When Jiang Huaiyan first arrived, Zhou Yunqiu’s mental state hadn’t been great, so he hadn’t looked into it. But recently, seeing the relationship between Jiang Huaiyan and Duan Mingxu, he felt something was off.
He certainly wasn’t going to believe the one-sided stories from Fang Yanting and Duan Mingxu.
