- Chapter 12 - Zerg World 12, You Are Tied to the Same Boat as Me
Chu Sicheng turned his head instinctively. There, he saw the female Zerg he had left behind half an hour ago. He had expected him to leave, but the female stood behind him now, breathing slightly heavily. His beautiful, exquisite green eyes shimmered in the light as if sprinkled with crushed diamonds. For a moment, even the reflection within them seemed shrouded in a layer of light.
Chu Sicheng blinked, appearing so genuinely surprised by the female’s sudden appearance that he forgot to resist. Alex grabbed him by the shoulders and pinned him against the wall behind them with ease.
“Gods above! I really want to crack open your head and see how it is structured!” Alex hissed through gritted teeth as he stared at Chu Sicheng. “Setting aside the fact that military leaders deploy massive amounts of traps and monitoring devices in and around their rooms, what exactly can you do to Friedrich with those skinny arms and legs of yours? Strangle him with your noodle arms?”
Chu Sicheng was silent. His current body did look a bit thin, but as the protagonist-top, he actually had a decent amount of muscle. He wasn’t nearly as scrawny as Alex described. Chu Sicheng felt he should defend his physique, but the furious female gave him no chance to speak.
The grip on his shoulders tightened. Alex held Chu Sicheng firmly against the wall as if afraid he would run away. He even forcefully pressed his right leg between Chu Sicheng’s own legs.
“And don’t tell me you’re going to use pheromones. You think I don’t know? The amount of pheromones you can release from your glands right now is practically zero. Every time you soothe me, you have to shed blood. Is blood that easy to clean up?”
“Once you are discovered, it will be obvious to everyone that you were the one who broke into Friedrich’s room! Don’t forget, the results of the second hearing aren’t out yet. You are still,” Alex continued, lowering his voice and emphasizing every word. Perhaps fearing Chu Sicheng didn’t grasp the danger of the plan, he spoke much more than usual, his body leaning closer to Chu Sicheng instinctively.
The distance between the two Zergs grew smaller until Chu Sicheng could clearly feel Alex’s heartbeat. It was rapid and forceful.
With his eyes lowered, Chu Sicheng looked down at the female’s cardigan, which had opened at some point. His platinum blonde hair obscured his eyes, making it impossible for anyone to see his expression or perceive his thoughts.
“Hey! Are you even,” Alex’s annoyance grew in the face of Chu Sicheng’s silence. He had said so much, yet the male gave no reaction!
Alex reached out to grab Chu Sicheng’s chin, wanting to make him look up. But before he could, he felt a slight, cool touch against his chest. Through the thin fabric, Alex could clearly feel Chu Sicheng’s fingertips pressing lightly against his chest a few times.
The movement wasn’t heavy; it didn’t even trigger the female’s lowest defense mechanisms. Yet, like a fatal blow, it caused Alex to lose all power to react instantly.
“You,”
“Alex,” Chu Sicheng spoke suddenly. His voice, intentionally lowered and muffled by his mask, sounded even deeper. In the thick of the night, it held an indescribable temptation.
“Is your heart always beating this fast? It seems even faster now. Tell me, why is that? What are you thinking about right now?”
Why would a female, who claimed he wanted to kill him, choose to intervene and painstakingly dissuade him instead of watching from the sidelines when he came here to “seek death”? Wasn’t he a villain? Weren’t villains supposed to only care about their own interests? Why was Alex here, meddling in this mess, even though he was certain the plan would fail?
The heart beneath his fingertips beat with increasing intensity. Chu Sicheng blinked and leaned even closer to Alex. A faint scent of citrus enveloped the female.
“Alex, tell me, why did you appear here?”
Perhaps because of the mask, the male’s voice sounded somewhat blurry. This caused Alex to lean in closer instinctively, his ear accidentally brushing against the rough fabric of the mask. Warm breath accompanied by a faint scent of pheromones sprayed against his ear. A numb sensation spread from his ear to his entire body. For a moment, Alex felt his soul tremble.
The citrus scent seemed to grow stronger, and Alex’s breathing became erratic. The hand that had been holding Chu Sicheng’s chin instinctively moved to grab the wrist hidden beneath his own clothes. However, his fingers loosened and tightened repeatedly, making it impossible to tell if he wanted to pull the male away or pull him closer.
The spot the male touched felt as though it were on fire. Alex bit his lip, and after a long while, he finally managed to speak. “I,”
“Shh,” Just as Alex was about to find an excuse for his abnormal behavior tonight, the male suddenly pressed a thumb against his lips.
Chu Sicheng’s other hand wrapped around Alex’s waist. With a slight surge of strength, he flipped their positions, pulling them both into a more hidden crevice in the wall. This movement closed the distance between them even further.
Alex felt the pheromone scent around his nose grow stronger. Perhaps the male’s wound had reopened during the movement, as the citrus scent was now laced with a metallic smell of blood that he knew all too well. It was faint, yet infinitely alluring.
He instinctively reached out and pulled at the male’s collar. Like a puppy unsatisfied with its master’s scent, he buried his face in Chu Sicheng’s neck. The rich pheromones instantly filled his nose. Alex couldn’t help but flick his tongue out for a lick. The next second, he felt the soft flesh of his waist being pinched lightly by the male.
“Stop making noise,” Chu Sicheng said.
Only then did Alex realize that he had actually let out a soft moan while sniffing Chu Sicheng’s pheromones. Realizing this, his body went stiff. He instinctively tried to push the male away to distance himself.
But before he could act, Chu Sicheng grabbed his hands and pinned them above his head.
“You!” Alex glared at Chu Sicheng, deeply dissatisfied with being restrained.
However, at that moment, a strange voice rang out nearby. “Then it’s a deal, Friedrich.”
The sudden voice made Alex stop struggling. He instantly understood the meaning of the male’s earlier “shh.” A cold wind blew, restoring most of Alex’s clouded consciousness. He looked up, only to see Chu Sicheng leaning down to his ear.
“Guess what would happen if we were discovered like this? Do you think news about the two of us would appear on the Star Network tomorrow?”
What kind of situation was “this”? Being caught in the middle of the night at someone else’s villa, disheveled and embracing a male, and even shamelessly pulling at the male’s collar to drink in more pheromones. Just the thought of such a news headline was enough to make one curl their toes in shame.
Alex gripped Chu Sicheng’s collar tightly, his body trembling even more violently.
It was then that the stranger’s voice spoke again. “Don’t worry about the drug to induce his heat. I have my own ways. You just need to ensure Saxon drinks it at the banquet. Afterward, I will bring Elio to find you, and then,”
Philo didn’t finish the sentence, but given the names mentioned and the strange drug, even with only a fraction of his sanity remaining, Alex could guess they intended to force a marriage between him and Elio. They were using such a lowly method that, if successful, would utterly destroy his reputation.
Why? Just because he didn’t agree to hand over the management rights of Mogras to Friedrich?
Alex didn’t understand. But then, after a long silence, Friedrich spoke, answering his confusion. “And at that time, Ryan,”
“The strongest helper will have fallen. What kind of waves can an F-rank male make?” Philo gave a disdainful laugh. “Two Zergs destined to be abandoned by the plot will find that even if they cooperate, it is useless. They will eventually be trampled under our feet!”
Alex’s agitated body went completely cold. He looked up at Chu Sicheng, only to find the male was already watching him. When their eyes met, Chu Sicheng raised an eyebrow, clearly showing he had known about this all along.
“You knew?” Alex reached out and grabbed Chu Sicheng’s collar, his dark green eyes reflecting the male’s image. “They,”
Chu Sicheng blinked. Facing the fuming Alex, he had no intention of hiding the truth and simply nodded.
So, you see, Alex.
What do the principles you uphold matter in the eyes of others? How many people do the rules you follow actually bind in the end?
Chu Sicheng’s thumb slowly stroked the pulse thrumming beneath the skin of the female’s wrist. He lowered his head slightly and spoke.
“So, admit it, Alex. Whether or not you are willing to make a deal with me, over there,” he gestured toward the two Zergs outside still plotting. “And here,”
Chu Sicheng released the female’s hands and slowly moved his hand down. Everywhere he touched felt like countless seeds restless to break through the soil, until his fingertip tapped lightly over Alex’s heart.
Then, Alex heard him say, “They have already decided that you are on the same boat as me.”
