- When the Villainous Boss Acts as the Protagonist (Quick Transmigration)
- Chapter 10 - Zerg World (10), What Are You Doing Here?
Devon Elio, one of the Empire’s noble and rare A-rank males, was a figure of prestige. With his prominent family background and handsome appearance, he had consistently held the top spot as the most desired marriage partner for the Empire’s military females in recent years.
However, behind this façade of a gentle and polite Excellency who haunted the dreams of all military females, he was a male who took extreme pleasure in torturing them.
While Zerg research once suggested that using a small number of tools and techniques during soothing could promote the further release of male pheromones, and might even be considered a form of flirting for hard-shelled military females, this did not mean they could endure a male whipping them with a lash dipped in boiling chili oil. Much less could they tolerate someone pressing a red-hot iron brand into their chest, back, or even their face.
Military females possessed incredible resilience and a level of endurance that ranked among the best in the universe, but they could still feel pain.
Moreover, the “games” Devon Elio enjoyed during soothing brought them nothing but pain, despair, and utter humiliation.
According to the Empire’s laws protecting males, once a military female married a male, they were bound to stay by his side unless the male abandoned them. They could not initiate a divorce, nor could they intentionally harm the male.
In the original text, Alex was trapped by these very laws. Unable to end his marriage to Devon Elio and subjected to endless torture and insults, all while his female father not only failed to support him but blamed him for the abuse, Alex finally blackened completely.
“Alex has gone mad!” said every Zerg who witnessed the scene that day.
They all saw it.
They saw how the young general, hailed as the next generation’s leader, stood with the left side of his face a bloody mess. He laughed as he threw his male master’s severed, bloodied head into the heavy traffic of the road before them.
Some cars could not brake in time, and their tires ground directly over it.
And so, the noble Devon Elio, who had been held in the palm of everyone’s hand since birth, ended his short life in a crude, undignified manner.
It was from that moment that Alex fled the Empire’s pursuit, left the military to join a star pirate organization, and eventually aimed his cannons directly at the Empire. He stood against every citizen, fully embarking on the path of a villain.
But now:
Facing the uncomprehending and disapproving gazes of the crowd on the screen, Chu Sicheng blinked innocently. “Did you not say that any request was acceptable?”
“But,” Under the Insect Emperor’s subtle hint, Marshal Saxon gritted his teeth and spoke up. “Excellency Devon Elio and my son, the Alex sitting beside you, became engaged two months ago.”
“Is that so?”
Chu Sicheng frowned upon hearing this, appearing as though he were reconsidering his abrupt request. However, in the next second, he said: “Then just cancel the engagement.”
It was only an engagement, after all, not a marriage.
Besides, even married couples can divorce; was this such a difficult problem to solve?
Chu Sicheng blinked twice. Under Marshal Saxon’s troubled gaze, he showed no intention of changing his request.
For a moment, the atmosphere of the meeting grew heavy again.
Except for Chu Sicheng and Alex, none of the other Zerg could accept this request.
Setting aside the Emperor and the other ministers, Marshal Saxon and Friedrich were already a hundred percent against it.
The former did not want to give up Devon Elio, a marriage partner he had worked hard to secure for Alex. The latter, having heard many stories about Alex from Philo, had a certain understanding of Devon Elio.
Furthermore, Friedrich was currently in a state of intense loathing and rejection toward males. He certainly could not accept being casually assigned to another male by a male who treated him like garbage!
A flash of ruthlessness crossed Friedrich’s eyes.
“So, is Excellency Ryan’s request to cancel the engagement between General Saxon and Excellency Devon Elio? Or is it to be,” His lips moved, but Friedrich still could not bring himself to link his own name with a disgusting male. Forced by the disadvantageous situation, he finally gritted his teeth and said: “The wedding witness for Excellency Devon Elio and me?”
Clearly, Friedrich wanted to exploit a loophole by splitting the cancellation of the engagement and being the witness into two separate requests. By utilizing the fact that the Emperor only promised Chu Sicheng one request, he hoped to force the focus onto the cancellation first, thereby achieving his own escape.
However:
Chu Sicheng arched an eyebrow. As Alex secretly tugged at his sleeve, Chu Sicheng steadied himself to remain centered on the screen and smiled politely: “You do not need to tell me that. My request is to be the wedding witness for General Friedrich and Excellency Devon Elio. As for any other engagements, I do not care.”
On the blue-lit screen, the male’s smile remained clean and pure, but the gaze directed at Friedrich no longer held the previous caution or tenderness.
For some reason, Friedrich’s heart suddenly felt empty for a moment.
The pressure around him dropped several notches. Unwilling to face Chu Sicheng any longer, he turned directly to the Emperor: “But Your Majesty, this matter involves Excellency Devon Elio and General Saxon. Before deciding, should we not ask for their opinions?”
“Right!”
The Emperor nodded immediately upon hearing this. Afraid that Chu Sicheng would recklessly insist on being the witness right then and there, he did not even bother to ask Alex, who was present, and said: “I will take note of Excellency Ryan’s request for now. We will discuss it collectively after consulting with Alex and Excellency Devon Elio. Very well, that is all for today. I am tired. Meeting adjourned!”
With that, he cut the video feed, his speed bordering on a frantic escape.
Chu Sicheng looked at the now-empty white wall. He lowered his head and gave a light chuckle. When he looked up again, his previous willful demeanor had vanished.
With a neutral expression, he withdrew his hand from Alex’s shoulder. He stood up and sat back in his chair, picking up a new orange to peel.
He was thirsty after speaking so much.
Alex watched his movements, his eyes flickering. He finally could not help but speak: “You, why did you help me just now?”
“Hmm?”
Chu Sicheng blinked. Under Alex’s complex gaze, he suddenly leaned close to the other and said: “Because I like you.”
“Even though our first meeting was not perfect and you even wanted to kill me, I still could not help but fall in love with you during the repeated pheromone soothings afterward. I cannot stand to see you bullied by other Zerg, and even less can I stand to see you marry someone else.”
The male spoke word by word, his voice soft and gentle. Combined with those clean blue-gray eyes that seemed to hide nothing, it appeared as though even the punctuation marks were filled with infinite love.
But how could that be possible?
Alex was unwilling to believe it, nor did he want to. Yet, as Chu Sicheng drew closer, that sweet citrus scent assailed him again. It was not as intense as before; it was faint, but even more seductive. It made him instinctively want to lower his head, drawing closer to the male, and then closer still.
An inexplicable heat spread rapidly from his heart to his entire body. It was so hot that even his breathing became scorched. Alex instinctively looked away, forcibly suppressing the sudden palpitation.
“You, you are lying! You are simply doing this to retaliate against Friedrich.”
“If you already knew that, why did you ask me?” Chu Sicheng flashed Alex a slight smile. “Or perhaps, you were hoping I would give a different answer?”
Just like the one he just gave.
The romantic tension in the air seemed to be instantly cleared by a powerful purifier. Alex looked at the male before him, who was leaning back in his chair with a triumphant look after his prank, stuffing an orange into his mouth. Alex felt his hands itch.
As expected, this male was as detestable as ever!
He was not hoping for anything; how could he possibly be hoping?!
However, his gaze flickered. Alex remained silent for a moment. Instead of answering Chu Sicheng’s question, he changed the subject: “Where are you planning to go later?”
This hospital room was a single-occupancy unit. Furthermore, one of them was a male and the other a female, and they had no engagement; it was impossible for them to stay together.
Previously, Alex had been in a state of chaos and could not even look after himself, so he naturally did not worry about Chu Sicheng’s resting situation.
But now that he was clear-headed, he needed to observe the social graces.
Alex cleared his throat, picked up an orange from the nearby table, and began to peel it as well.
Chu Sicheng did not hide anything on this point. Since the military female before him was his prospective partner, he answered directly: “I am planning to go to the Jingshan District later.”
“Do you live there?”
“No,” Chu Sicheng said, stuffing the last orange segment into his mouth and clapping his hands. “I am going to handle some matters.”
Handle some matters?
Alex instinctively frowned.
One must know that the Jingshan District was essentially the hub of military power on the Imperial Star. The Zerg living there were basically high-ranking officers and leaders. Alex’s own house was there, and Friedrich’s house was also there.
Since arriving on the Imperial Star, the only military females Chu Sicheng knew were him and Friedrich. Since Alex was currently in the hospital, the only person the other could be looking for in Jingshan was Friedrich.
And just as Alex suspected, Chu Sicheng was indeed going to Jingshan to find Friedrich.
After all, his mission was to torment the Protagonist-Shou’s body and soul. Now that the soul had been tormented, the body certainly needed some attention.
Having no partner to cooperate with for now, Chu Sicheng, who “pitifully” had to take the field himself, carried the tools he had previously swiped from the execution room. His eyes were full of uncontrollable excitement.
However:
Upon successfully reaching the back garden of Friedrich’s villa, he looked at the familiar figure in the darkness, the one who should have been lying in a hospital bed right now. For the first time, he felt a sense of bewilderment and shock.
“No, what are you doing here?!”
