When A Commoner Carries The Child Of A Stranger Alpha - Chapter 6
Shen Buqi was still dazed after hanging up the phone, not entirely understanding what his boss meant.
He didn’t have much time to think about it, though. Putting the phone down, he moved Mimi a bit further away, grabbed Ji Weishi, and headed straight out the door.
Ji Weishi still wore that look of being on the verge of tears. “It’s fine, it didn’t mean to do it, and I’m really okay.”
Shen Buqi shook his head. “You need a shot.”
Nowadays, rabies had virtually gone extinct. This wasn’t because humanity had found a cure, but because other, far more lethal threats had emerged.
Humans had evolved, yet they remained just as fragile.
They could only do their best to ignore the simpler ways of dying.
Instead, they focused their attention on gaming the mutant species and battling natural disasters.
Still, Shen Buqi wouldn’t let his Alpha run that kind of risk. Walking at a brisk pace all the way to the hospital, they found the place practically deserted.
In the massive hospital, there was only a forty something doctor and a young nurse. Yet, this was the only hospital in District 7.
People in District 7 didn’t need to see doctors.
The only medical adjacent place they ever visited was the black market. You could buy miracle drugs there; no matter what illness you had, you just stuffed some miracle drugs down your throat and toughed it out.
As for the hospital, they either had no money or simply didn’t care.
After all, very few people who actually wanted to live well stayed in District 7.
Seeing people walk in, the doctor looked up with a detached expression and asked, “Buying miracle drugs?”
Shen Buqi shook his head, taking Ji Weishi by the wrist and pushing it forward. “Bitten by a cat. Needs a shot.”
The doctor’s mouth twitched. Before he could say anything, the young Beta nurse behind him burst into laughter. “Are Alphas this delicate nowadays?”
She was tall, with her hair tied back in a crisp, high ponytail. Her blue eyes carried a hint of disdain, but as they swept across Ji Weishi’s face, they filled with a touch of awe and greed.
Ji Weishi silently endured her disgusting gaze, thinking to himself that the next time he came here, he would kill her.
The young nurse had no idea what he was thinking. She just kept staring at that beautiful, radiant face.
In District 7, gender wasn’t the deciding factor of strength.
Here, Omegas could inflict violence, Alphas could be prey, and Betas could be leaders.
Because it was so chaotic, the social order that human civilization had evolved over time failed to function here.
Naturally, a Beta could covet an Alpha’s body.
Shen Buqi frowned, shifting his body to block the Beta’s blunt, naked stare.
“Aethelis,” the doctor warned, giving the nurse behind him a stern look. Only then did she retract her gaze with a tinge of regret.
Yet, her mouth remained foul. “With looks that good, it’s fine to be a little delicate. Once Brother Shen is done playing with him, you can pass him over to me.”
Shen Buqi: “?”
He didn’t know Aethelis and had no idea why she called him “Brother Shen,” but he certainly understood the meaning behind her words.
He immediately shot back, “This is my Alpha. Please don’t say things like that again, or face the consequences.”
That fiercely protective, food guarding demeanor actually brought a curve to Ji Weishi’s eyes. He hadn’t said much along the way because he was afraid he wouldn’t be able to control himself.
His emotions toward Shen Buqi seemed conflicted to the absolute extreme.
That damned S-grade Omega pheromone made him uncontrollably want to cherish, possess, and depend on this person.
But discarding his body’s reactions, his heart wanted nothing more than to kill him.
Though doing so meant he would never uncover the secrets hidden on his body, it didn’t matter. At least there wouldn’t be any more threats.
As for the susceptibility period… it was only ten days. Once he endured it, it would be time for Wen Jiayu and the others to die.
Now, seeing Shen Buqi act this way for him, his bloodthirsty, violent genes were somewhat suppressed, and the tender side controlled by the pheromones slowly bubbled to the surface.
What was infuriating was that he actually no longer rejected it.
Ji Weishi chalked this emotion up to the instincts of his susceptibility period, accepting it openly. He reached back to take the hand Shen Buqi was using to hold his wrist.
Watching that lean, beautiful hand curl up inside his palm brought him an odd sense of comfort.
The doctor tapped the desk with a tongue depressor and said indifferently, “Are we getting the shot or not? If not, I’m closing up. I’m still waiting to head to District 4.”
Aethelis had met with a snub. She had already turned around to look for the rabies vaccine in the sparse medicine cabinet, but hearing this, she said angrily:
“Dad, are you out of your mind? Mom doesn’t want anything to do with you at all. And even though the district gates are open right now, there’s no guarantee they won’t close up again one day. If you go, you might never come back!”
Remembering her actual job, she began searching for the vial, but her mouth didn’t stop: “Don’t tell me you aren’t doing this for her. Out of all the peaceful Green Districts you could go to, you just have to push your way into District 4, a Red District.”
“The Arbitrators in District 4 kill whenever they please, and it’s bad enough that their Patron turns a blind eye, but he even rewards those murderers. How many living souls are even left inside? And yet you’re the one still trying to squeeze your way in.”
Listening to her words, Ji Weishi’s eyes flickered slightly.
The gates are open?
To completely eradicate him, they really went all out, opening the gates to all six districts at once. Who knew how they managed to convince that lunatic, Qin Che.
And aren’t they afraid that the people of District 7 will pour into the other districts and cause absolute chaos?
He was so deeply lost in thought that he didn’t notice the subtle, unnatural look that crossed Shen Buqi’s face as well.
Shen Buqi gripped his clothes tightly, thinking to himself. Is this what the boss and the others were talking about? Then what’s the deal with people coming from other districts?
He regretted it a little. He regretted not making his Alpha stay home while he came out alone to bring the doctor back to the house.
What if someone really was looking for his Alpha?
Even if they weren’t originally looking for Ah Shi, Ah Shi was so handsome that people would bound to covet him.
His mind was clouded with worry, but his face remained completely unreadable.
Finally, as if comforting himself, he thought.
Ah Shi can’t be locked up, but… he can just never go outside from now on.
