What to Do If the White Moonlight Omega Falls in Love with Me - Chapter 14
The meeting participants gradually arrived. Yan Qingran and Na Liangcai distributed the freshman training programs first, and then Yi Hui brought over a stack of school calendars. “Pass these out as well.”
“Mhm.” Yan Qingran took the stack of calendars and considered for a moment. “Should we distribute the military training uniforms now too?”
While documents were easy to hand out, the training uniforms came in different sizes, making the process much more time-consuming.
Yi Hui glanced at the time. “Go ahead and distribute the uniforms. Once you are finished, you can leave if you have other things to do. It is fine if the meeting starts a bit late; Dean Liang has not arrived yet.”
Dean Liang was the Dean of the Undergraduate School of Architecture at Q University. He personally presided over the training plans for each new class, so he would definitely be attending this meeting.
Yan Qingran nodded. “Alright.” She handed the calendars to Su Meng. “Please distribute these. Na Liangcai and I will handle the uniforms.”
“Mhm.” Distributing calendars was much easier than handling uniforms, so Su Meng happily took the stack.
Na Liangcai looked at the pile of uniforms on the floor. “How should we distribute these?”
Yan Qingran thought for a moment. “I will get someone to help.”
“Ah?” Na Liangcai looked confused. Usually, if Yan Qingran could finish a task with two people, she would never call a third. She was someone who pursued extreme efficiency. However, his confusion did not stop Yan Qingran from walking toward Cha Yuxuan.
“I might have to trouble you again.” Yan Qingran offered a slightly forced, apologetic smile. “That means I owe you two meals now.”
Between that smile and her tone, Cha Yuxuan felt as though the entire lecture hall had dimmed by comparison. She quickly steadied her heart. “It is no trouble at all. These are just small things; you do not need to treat me to dinner, Senior.”
Yan Qingran glanced at her and stepped aside to make room. “Follow me first.”
Cha Yuxuan stood up and walked to the aisle, following behind Yan Qingran. Her gaze moved with the rhythmic sway of Yan Qingran’s hair. Suddenly, her foot missed a step. Losing her balance, she lunged forward and crashed right into Yan Qingran.
She grabbed the fabric at Yan Qingran’s waist, pressing her entire body against the other woman’s back like a drowning person clutching at a life raft. It was a solid collision. The girl’s curvaceous figure was pressed tightly against her.
The sensation was suddenly and infinitely magnified.
Yan Qingran visibly stiffened. A flurry of random thoughts flashed through her mind, unsure whether to turn around and catch her or wait for the girl to stand up on her own.
The moment Cha Yuxuan realized what had happened, she immediately let go of Yan Qingran and stumbled back several steps until her heels hit the step. “I am so sorry! I did not notice there was a step here.”
Yan Qingran turned to look at her, scanning her from head to toe. “It is fine. As long as you did not fall.”
“No, I did not fall.” Cha Yuxuan fiddled with her fingers and followed slowly, not daring to let her mind wander again.
“Be careful next time.” Yan Qingran quietly straightened her clothes where they had been tugged at her waist. The sensation on her back was still vivid. She swallowed hard; how did this little Alpha have such a figure?
The meeting ended. Cha Yuxuan was walking along the road carrying her training uniform and documents when she received a call from Xue Jiu. Considering he was the one who drove her to school yesterday, she answered immediately. “Hello, Brother.”
Xue Jiu’s voice was as energetic as ever. “How is it? Can you adjust to university life?”
Cha Yuxuan silently rolled her eyes. “Nonsense. Do you think I am the type who does not fit in?”
“That is not what I meant. I was just asking about your roommates. Are they easy to get along with?” Even though he was just an older brother, Xue Jiu sounded like a worried father.
Cha Yuxuan kept an eye on the ground while talking. “They are all great. I am walking with them right now; we just finished a meeting.”
“Good. Is the cafeteria food okay for you?”
“It is alright. I had braised tripe last night; it was quite delicious.”
“Oh? You even know about braised tripe? Not bad, not bad.”
Cha Yuxuan could not help but start teasing him. “Give it a rest. You are such a shut-in; you do not know anything but still act like you do. I was here for so long before school started, and you never introduced me to any good food or places to play, even though you have lived here for over ten years.”
Xue Jiu began to laugh it off. “Eh, was it not because you did not ask?”
“Forget it. I know what you are like.” A figure suddenly flashed through Cha Yuxuan’s mind. “Hey, let me tell you. That girl we ran into at the bar the night before last? She is at our school too. She happens to be my Senior. Is that not a coincidence?”
Xue Jiu was shocked. “Holy crap! That much of a coincidence? Are you not being chased down by her then?”
“What are you talking about? The Senior is a very good person. She even took me out to eat; she was the one who recommended the braised tripe.” She even said she would treat me to dinner, Cha Yuxuan thought, a smile appearing on her face.
Bai Hang caught her expression. She finally realized that Cha Yuxuan’s smile was a “Qing-smile,” the kind that only appeared when Yan Qingran was mentioned.
Xue Jiu had a huge question mark over his head. “That does not make sense. Did you not try to snatch an Omega from her?”
“Who tried to snatch an Omega? I just thought she looked a bit overwhelmed at the time and purely wanted to help. Besides, she said she does not like that Omega.”
“Ooh, interesting.” But based on Xue Jiu’s years of experience, an Omega that could make an Alpha like Yan Qingran go to a bar alone to pick them up must have a complicated relationship with her. He thought his sister was being naive. “Are you sure she is not lying to you? What if she is trying to bait you? I am telling you, do not underestimate Alphas these days. During their rut, they will even bite their own kind, let alone someone as pure and innocent as you.”
Cha Yuxuan felt a sudden chill on her neck. “But the Senior does not seem like that kind of person. Besides, if she has an Omega, why would she bite me? Would it not be better to hold a fragrant, soft Omega?”
Although the image of Yan Qingran holding an Omega was something she did not want to imagine, she knew Yan Qingran would eventually have her own Omega, just as she would have hers.
Xue Jiu was silent for a moment. “That makes sense too. Well, it is hard to say. Just be careful and protect yourself.”
“Do not worry.” Cha Yuxuan repeatedly emphasized that she would keep her guard up before Xue Jiu finally stopped nagging.
He thought of their cold-natured father. “Has Cha Ye chatted with you?”
“Dad? He messaged me yesterday saying he is busy with work and does not have time for video calls. He told me to take care of myself and then transferred ten thousand yuan to me.”
Cha Yuxuan really wondered how she had managed to grow up without becoming maladjusted in this family. Her and Xue Jiu’s father was a proud police officer. He was always busy, practically living at the station. Because he had to be ready for calls at any time, he spoke very little even when he was off duty. He rarely smiled and was quite stoic. The most Cha Yuxuan ever saw him talk was when interrogating suspects, and the most he ever smiled was when playing with his police dog.
She knew her father cared for his family, but he was like a stone-faced antique, unwilling to change himself even slightly for the sake of the household. Consequently, her mother could not stand it and divorced him. It was a peaceful separation without any major arguments, and neither side had remarried.
Xue Jiu opened his mouth but ultimately said nothing, only telling her, “If anything happens, tell your brother. I will stand up for you. If you are free this weekend, come over for a meal; I will pick you up and drop you off.”
“I know.” Cha Yuxuan quietly sniffed, forcing back her tears.
“Actually, Mom has always kept a room for you. The room you stayed in recently was not just put together at the last minute; she decorated it for you long ago and cleans it whenever she has time.” Xue Jiu finally blurted out the secret his mother had told him several times not to tell his sister.
Their mother was a modern woman with a strong sense of independence. After the divorce, she returned to her hometown of Jingcheng to start her own business. With the support of her grandparents, her career quickly grew, and her income rose. However, she always worried about her daughter in Shencheng. Because it was an amicable divorce, both sides wanted a child with them. But since her parents only had one daughter, they wanted her to keep the boy with her, so she had to leave Cha Yuxuan in Shencheng and take Xue Jiu back to her hometown to start her business.
Taking advantage of Cha Yuxuan’s silence, Xue Jiu quickly added something lighthearted. “Hey, once you turn eighteen at the end of the month, hurry up and sign up for a driver’s license. Mom already bought the car she wants to give you for your coming-of-age gift. It is parked in our garage. I touched the keys and was so jealous; it is way more expensive than my coupe.”
Cha Yuxuan pinched her nose. “What is there to be jealous of? I will not be able to get a license for a while anyway. I can just lend it to you when the time comes.”
“No, no, no, I would not dare. If Mom saw me driving your car, she would probably nag me again.”
Cha Yuxuan chatted with her talkative brother about more trivial matters and only hung up when she was almost back at the dormitory.
Yan Qingran went to the library to borrow two books before heading home. Recently, she had been browsing the internet occasionally, only to find a wealth of hardcore, specialized knowledge that she found extremely fascinating. Since there were still several books on her list she had not read yet, she planned to read them slowly and write reading notes.
Military training for freshmen would start tomorrow. She probably would not be needed to help at the school for the next half month. She only needed to visit her grandfather every couple of nights. As for the situation with Zhuang Wei, it was actually the most relaxed part.
Yan Qingran had not expected it to turn out this way. At the time, Zhuang Wei had been very direct with her. “I only want a formal engagement to block some trouble. I suspect you are the same, which is why I chose you.”
It was true; Yan Qingran did need a formal engagement. Otherwise, her grandfather would arrange a blind date for her every week, dragging her to meet various socialites from prominent families, which was a massive headache.
The specific negotiations went very smoothly. Zhuang Wei’s baseline was that the engagement must last at least another year. His concession was that when the engagement was finally broken, he would take all the blame, saying he had found another Alpha. These terms were quite friendly, so Yan Qingran had no reason to disagree.
With everything settled, she was at peace and could enjoy staying at home quietly for a while.
