What to Do If the White Moonlight Omega Falls in Love with Me - Chapter 15
On August 16th, filled with anticipation, Cha Yuxuan welcomed the start of her half-month-long military training.
The class assignments and precautions had all been explained the day before. Thirty people made up one class, with men and women separated into different units. Everyone wore the uniform military training gear and was expected to be at the playground by seven in the morning, standing in a five-by-six formation to wait for their instructor.
There were roughly ninety students in the Q University Architecture Department. Since there were exactly thirty women, they all fit perfectly into a single class. Having all four roommates in the same class made things much more convenient, as they could move as a group.
Jiang Xiaoping rubbed her eyes while letting out a long yawn. “Ah, I am so sleepy.”
Beside her, Bai Hang was also visibly exhausted. Her dark circles were so heavy they looked like smoky eye makeup; it was hard to tell what she had been up to the night before.
Cha Yuxuan asked in confusion, “Did we not go to sleep at the same time last night? Why do you both look like you pulled an all-nighter?”
“We did not go to sleep together; we just went to our beds at the same time.” Bai Hang, despite her bleary eyes, did not forget to correct her. “Watch your phrasing.”
Jiang Xiaoping yawned again. “Once I got into bed last night, I scrolled onto a super good TV drama. I accidentally ended up bingeing three episodes and did not fall asleep until one in the morning.”
Yan Na said with great interest, “Is it the one with the double Alphas? I saw that too! Both female leads are incredibly cool.”
“Yes, yes, that is the one!” Jiang Xiaoping clutched her heart. “Gu Ziyan is so handsome. Her smile is so charming. I highly recommend it, family; you absolutely have to watch it.”
Yan Na mimed catching a signal. “Recommendation received. I will watch it when I get back tonight.”
“What is the name? I will check it out later.” Although Cha Yuxuan did not usually enjoy TV dramas, it did not hurt to have something to kill time when she was bored.
Jiang Xiaoping blinked. “Take Advantage of a Crisis.”
Cha Yuxuan made a note of it in her phone. “OK.”
Yan Na looked at Bai Hang, who seemed half-dead and could barely keep her eyes open. “What time did you sleep last night?”
Bai Hang lifted an eyelid slightly. “Maybe three or four? I forgot.”
Jiang Xiaoping gave a thumbs up. “Impressive. You truly are the strongest when it comes to staying up late.”
Cha Yuxuan stared at her. “Are you watching the drama too?”
Bai Hang quickly looked away and pretended to be sleepy, feeling quite guilty. “No, I was reading a novel.”
The fanfic about you and Yan Qingran was just too exciting; I accidentally overdid it.
Cha Yuxuan nodded. “Oh. Everyone should try to sleep earlier from now on. It is better for your health.”
“Mhm.” Bai Hang nodded like a chick pecking at grain, letting out a quiet breath of relief. Fortunately, the others in the dorm did not read novels and did not press her further, otherwise she would not have known how to make up an excuse.
Cha Yuxuan rubbed her stomach. “Whew, I am so hungry.”
All four of them had rushed to the playground the moment they woke up without eating breakfast, fearing they would make a bad impression if they were late.
“Who isn’t?” Jiang Xiaoping also looked miserable, suffering from both hunger and exhaustion.
Complaining all the way, they arrived at the playground under the slanting rays of the morning sun. They walked around until they found the designated spot for Architecture Class One. Ten or so people were already standing near the chalk markings on the ground, though they were scattered in small groups of two or three.
It was so hot. The military uniforms consisted of long sleeves and long pants, and the fabric was not breathable at all. Cha Yuxuan took off her cap, letting her long, pinned-up hair cascade down over her shoulders. She wiped the sweat from her forehead with the back of her hand and brushed her hair aside to vent the heat.
Jiang Xiaoping looked at her in horror. “Cos, why are you sweating so much?”
“I am very sensitive to heat. I sweat easily.” Cha Yuxuan had forgotten to bring tissues when she left this morning, so she was currently in a state of misery, covered in sweat.
Yan Na pulled a pack of tissues from her pocket and handed it to her. “Wipe your sweat.”
Jiang Xiaoping took off her own cap. She had medium-short hair tied in a low ponytail, which she used to fan Cha Yuxuan.
“Thank you so much, besties.” Cha Yuxuan quickly wiped herself dry, feeling much cooler thanks to the breeze from the manual fan.
Bai Hang shielded her eyes from the sun and looked around. A group of people wearing different colored uniforms from their own walked in from the entrance; the men were tall and the women looked sharp.
“Those must be the instructors,” she said, quickly alerting her roommates. “Look, everyone, the instructors are here!”
“Where?”
“Right there!”
“Wow, so handsome.”
As the instructors drew closer, the students could see them more clearly. The instructor formation was very neat. Leading them was a female instructor about 1.8 meters tall with a great figure and a powerful, rhythmic stride. She instantly captured many people’s attention.
Cha Yuxuan’s position was quite out of the way. Even though the instructors had reached the center of the playground, they were still a bit far off. Furthermore, looking in that direction meant facing the sun, making it even harder to see clearly. It was too tiring to keep staring, so Cha Yuxuan gave up and lazily fanned herself with her cap.
Since they were just standing there waiting to be chosen by an instructor, Jiang Xiaoping started frantically “casting a spell.” “Please let it be that handsome sister in the front, handsome sister, handsome sister…”
So noisy, Cha Yuxuan thought, turning her back to Jiang Xiaoping.
Bai Hang looked at their own messy formation. “Instead of casting spells, we should probably stand in a neater line. If the team looks organized, the probability of being picked will definitely be higher.”
Yan Na nodded in agreement.
Jiang Xiaoping looked around and reached out a mischievous hand to pull Cha Yuxuan to her side. “Hee-hee, Cos, do your sister a favor?”
Cha Yuxuan looked down at her. “Do what?”
Jiang Xiaoping tapped her index fingers together in front of her chest, looking expectant. “Go organize the line for us, okay?”
Good grief, Yan Na thought, looking away in embarrassment. Why did this girl always act more feminine than an actual Omega?
Cha Yuxuan was completely baffled. “Huh? Why should I be the one to organize the line?”
Jiang Xiaoping glanced at the instructors, who were already starting to disperse to select classes. She stomped her feet in anxiety. “Just go! I will explain later. Just do it as a favor to me; I will buy your breakfast today.”
“Oh, alright then. But you don’t need to buy me breakfast.” It was not a big deal to organize the line, though Cha Yuxuan hated the heat and did not want to sweat more. Still, since her friend asked, she was willing to help.
Jiang Xiaoping pushed her forward. “I am definitely buying! Stop talking and go!”
Cha Yuxuan quickly pulled her cap onto her head. She did not have time to pin her hair back up, so it looked a bit loose, making the military uniform look more like a fashion statement. She walked to the front of the group and raised her voice. “Everyone, let’s gather up! Let’s stand in a five-by-six formation and leave a good first impression on our future instructor, okay?”
Jiang Xiaoping immediately cheered, “Good!”
“From right to left, front to back, please line up by increasing height. Everyone, check with the person next to you.”
With someone taking the lead, the others followed suit. Cha Yuxuan walked around the perimeter, confirmed her own position, and found that everyone was basically in place. She returned to the front of the formation and clapped her hands. “Alright, everyone stand straight now.”
In an instant, everyone stood perfectly still, looking straight ahead. They did not even need her to shout “Attention.”
Wait, what happened? She blinked. Jiang Xiaoping blinked back at her.
Whatever, since I started organizing, I might as well finish the process, Cha Yuxuan thought. She raised her hand. “Eyes front!”
“Right, dress!”
Cha Yuxuan glanced at the line; it was already very neat. “Attention! At ease!”
Jiang Xiaoping saw the 1.8-meter female instructor getting closer and closer but had no way to warn Cha Yuxuan. She could only focus on admiring the handsome sister standing behind her friend.
Alright, finished. Cha Yuxuan planned to slip back into the ranks. However, everyone’s expression seemed a bit subtle, and they were all staring at her.
Suddenly, a hand rested on her shoulder. “Good work.” A low, slightly magnetic female voice sounded in her ear.
Cha Yuxuan turned around and saw the instructor’s face inches away. She forced herself to maintain a neutral expression. “It was no trouble.”
Yuan Chu let the corners of her mouth curl up. “You did well. From now on, you are the class monitor. Does anyone have an objection?”
“No objection!”
In the ranks, Jiang Xiaoping and the others could no longer hold back their smiles, laughing joyfully.
Yuan Chu took a step back, standing diagonally behind Cha Yuxuan with her arms crossed. “Go ahead and introduce yourself to them.”
Cha “Forced into Labor” Yuxuan: “Hello everyone, my name is Cha Yuxuan. I am seventeen now but will be eighteen soon. I am 1.7 meters tall. I like extreme sports related to water and the blue sky. I know a bit of piano and dancing, and I like making friends. Thank you.”
The corners of Yuan Chu’s eyes turned up pleasantly. “You can dance? Good. I will give you some time to prepare. We will have a talent performance tonight; it is a perfect chance for you to make more friends.”
Cha Yuxuan’s expression was a kaleidoscope of emotions: I really thank you for that.
The crowd of onlookers covered their mouths and snickered.
Yuan Chu rested her chin in her hand. “And what about your second gender? You have to mention that too. Everyone in the class will be introducing themselves one by one tonight.”
“Uh…” Cha Yuxuan fiddled with her fingers.
Yuan Chu frowned and stared at her. “What is wrong? If you are an Alpha, just say Alpha. What is there to be shy about? People who don’t speak up won’t find a partner.”
Cha Yuxuan switched to pinching the hem of her shirt. “It is not that. I just have not presented yet.”
Everyone was quite surprised. Presenting late was rare, and it was often due to malnutrition, but given Cha Yuxuan’s height, she clearly was not malnourished. She had gone to the hospital for a check-up herself; the doctor said there were no issues with her body and that, based on various data, there was an 80% chance she would present as an Alpha.
“It is fine. You are not even an adult yet. Pay more attention these next few days; you might present at any time.” Yuan Chu gave her an encouraging look.
Cha Yuxuan gave a shy smile. “Thank you, instructor.”
Yuan Chu waved her hand. “Alright, go back to the ranks.”
Cha Yuxuan felt as though a weight had been lifted. She bolted back toward her spot, but her long hair was even more graceful than her silhouette as it flew, leaving Yuan Chu staring with a face full of dark lines.
“Monitor, your hair. Fix it in one minute. You are not allowed to leave it down, or I will personally cut it off for you.”
“Fixing it right now!” Cha Yuxuan quickly tore off her cap and pinned her hair up in a few quick motions.
“Hahaha!”
The crisp laughter of the students echoed across the playground.
