What Bad Intentions Could the Heroine Have? [GL] - Chapter 13
Chapter 13
Three or four days had passed since the day they went hiking, and Feng Chichun had returned to her busy state.
Even though she was busy, Feng Chichun would still squeeze out time to go on dates with Mu Xingyu.
Spending time together made Mu Xingyu realize that Feng Chichun was truly a dedicated person. Staying by the side of someone like that made her feel a sense of guilt if she wasn’t working herself.
Coincidentally, Mu Xingyu had been “frozen” by her previous company, so she hadn’t worked for nearly half a month.
Yesterday, her contract with Meili finally expired. She was currently negotiating a contract with Xinyue and expected to officially join the company and start taking on work in a couple of days.
The terms of Xinyue’s contract were better than Meili’s. Mu Xingyu didn’t know if Feng Chichun’s influence played a part in this.
The fact that she was “dating” Feng Chichun wasn’t exactly a secret. Once the higher-ups at Xinyue found out, it wasn’t impossible for them to give Feng Chichun some face by improving her treatment.
Going out of one’s way to demand “equal treatment” in such a situation would be truly brain-dead. Even melodramatic dog-blood novels don’t write that much anymore; only scriptwriters living ten years in the past would write such plots.
After confirming there were no issues with the contract, Mu Xingyu signed with Xinyue. Because of what happened with Meili, Mu Xingyu still signed a one-year contract, indicating they would renew if the subsequent cooperation went smoothly.
On Mu Xingyu’s second day at Xinyue, her new manager, Song Mengzhao, arranged work for her.
The new job was acting as a fashion model for a niche clothing brand, with the shooting location at the Oriental Building.
Upon hearing the address “Oriental Building,” Mu Xingyu’s heart skipped a beat. She remembered that in the original novel, a certain plot point occurred at the Oriental Building. She didn’t know if the author would keep this plot after changing the outline; she hoped the author had just cut this scene entirely.
Mu Xingyu and her manager, Song Mengzhao, got into the car heading to the Oriental Building. Song Mengzhao handed her a magazine and said, “Look at their brand’s previous style first. Think about how to showcase the characteristics of their clothing later. Their regular model jumped ship, and they haven’t decided on a new one yet, so they’re temporarily finding someone to shoot this season’s new arrivals.”
Mu Xingyu nodded and said, “Mm, I understand.”
She had heard of the brand “Yuanse” (Original Color). It was indeed niche, and the clothes weren’t cheap, but they had many die-hard fans. Becoming Yuanse’s regular model, even if it didn’t broaden her fame, would lead to recognition from more people within the industry circle.
Mu Xingyu loved her job and looked forward to appearing in famous magazines, being seen by more people, and being liked by more people.
Soon after, they arrived at the Oriental Building, with the shoot located in Studio No. 2. Mu Xingyu was led away for hair and makeup, which took quite a while.
After coming out, Mu Xingyu communicated with the photographer about the general vibe they wanted for this shoot before standing in front of the lens.
Under the camera, Mu Xingyu seemed to have found her own stage, yet her own radiance didn’t completely overshadow the clothing.
Mu Xingyu’s expressiveness in front of the lens and her control over the “degree” of her performance were definitely not inferior to some famous models. It was just that she was still too young and had no background, so her brilliance hadn’t been seen by many yet.
In fact, this was one of the reasons Zhu Zi regretted her actions; without Mu Xingyu, Meili really couldn’t find anyone better than her.
Looking at the images in the lens, the photographer’s face showed uncontrollable pleasant surprise. After finishing a set of photos, he gave an “OK” hand gesture.
“Too amazing! Today is the smoothest shoot I’ve ever had! Simply perfect!”
Mu Xingyu was very happy to be praised, but since she was still filming, she suppressed the expression on her face.
The shoot was surprisingly smooth. In the shadows, a man in a suit watched Mu Xingyu under the lights.
A person wearing a work badge behind the man in the suit asked, “President, do you really not need us to tell everyone you’re here?”
Murong Huai raised a hand and said, “No need. I’m just passing by by chance; I don’t want to affect everyone’s work.”
“Yes, I understand.”
At that moment, Mu Xingyu’s side finished up. The photographer happily blew another round of “rainbow farts” (extravagant flattery), and the corners of Mu Xingyu’s mouth twitched between a smile and restraint.
“Thank you for the praise.” Mu Xingyu wasn’t the type to be overly humble.
Song Mengzhao handed Mu Xingyu a bottle of water and said, “You performed well.”
Mu Xingyu took the water. “Sister Song, do you think it’s possible for me to become Yuanse’s regular model?”
Song Mengzhao said, “I think you have the ability, but others are also eyeing this position. Our Xinyue was only able to secure this opportunity for you because the Yuanse operations manager happens to owe our boss a favor. For the follow-up, it depends on what Yuanse decides.”
Mu Xingyu replied, “I understand.”
Song Mengzhao said, “You’re still young; there will be many opportunities in the future.”
Hearing Song Mengzhao’s words, the position of regular model was likely pre-decided for someone else. However, such things were common in society; as an ordinary person, she couldn’t change anything.
Mu Xingyu nodded. “Mm.”
While Song Mengzhao and Mu Xingyu were talking, a staff member walked over and said to Mu Xingyu, “Miss Mu, a gentleman is looking for you.”
Although the person didn’t say which gentleman was looking for her, Mu Xingyu already guessed who it was. In the original novel, she was supposed to meet Murong Huai at the Oriental Building.
Since the Oriental Building plot hadn’t been cut, even if she didn’t go, she would eventually run into Murong Huai anyway. It was better to just agree.
Mu Xingyu said to the staff member, “Then I’ll have to trouble you to lead the way.” Then Mu Xingyu turned to Song Mengzhao and said, “Sister Song, sorry, I’ll have to let you go back alone.”
Song Mengzhao: “It’s alright, go ahead.”
“Mm.”
Mu Xingyu followed the staff member out of the studio and around a corner. A handsome man smiled and greeted her.
“Miss Mu, we meet again.”
Seeing Murong Huai, Mu Xingyu wasn’t surprised at all. She replied politely, “Hello, Mr. Murong.”
Murong Huai smiled and asked, “You don’t seem surprised at all.”
Mu Xingyu couldn’t answer that, so she turned the tables and asked, “May I ask why Mr. Murong is looking for me?”
Murong Huai said, “It’s not something that can be explained in a sentence or two. Why don’t we go to the restaurant across the street to chat and have a meal together?”
Mu Xingyu wanted to see just how “Green Tea” Murong Huai could be. She said, “Then thank you for the meal, Mr. Murong.”
Ten minutes later, the two were sitting in the restaurant. Murong Huai truly lived up to his “overbearing president” roots; he even cleared the place out just to have a meal with someone.
Murong Huai didn’t state his intentions immediately; instead, he very patiently let Mu Xingyu order first.
Since Murong Huai was treating, Mu Xingyu wasn’t polite at all and picked the most expensive items.
After ordering, Mu Xingyu said, “Now, Mr. Murong, can you tell me what you wanted to chat about by inviting me to dinner today?”
Murong Huai crossed his fingers and looked at Mu Xingyu with a faint smile. He said, “Chichun and I grew up together; I understand her character very well.”
Before, Mu Xingyu always felt Murong Huai had a strong “Green Tea” scent, reminding her of a specific type of person. Thinking about it now, Murong Huai had clearly taken on the character setting of the “Green Tea Second Female Lead” from the original novel!
Coincidentally, the second female lead in the original novel was childhood friends with the male lead, and Murong Huai, having become the second male lead, was “childhood friends” with Feng Chichun. Not only that, he was doing exactly the same thing: finding the female lead to chat and boast about how good his relationship was with the president, implying that you are actually the third party.
Mu Xingyu’s silence was misunderstood by Murong Huai. He continued, “I was very surprised she would be with you. After all, based on my understanding of her, she shouldn’t like your type.”
Oho, here it comes.
She was the female lead now; she couldn’t lose to this supporting male character, Murong Huai. As the saying goes, you have to use magic to defeat magic.
“Mr. Murong, I don’t understand why you would say that? Is there something about me that you don’t like?”
Disguising oneself as the vulnerable party and pointing fingers from the moral high ground—who doesn’t know how to do that?
Murong Huai heard this and said, “That’s not it. I just feel that you and Chichun aren’t suitable. She is a very career-driven person; you can’t help her career.”
Standard Green Tea routine number five: fabricating nonsense under the guise of “being good for someone,” suppressing the opponent to make them feel guilty. This move even carries a toxic “PUA” (Pick-Up Artist) quality.
Mu Xingyu sneered in her heart and countered the move: “Chichun is so capable, does she still need to rely on marriage alliances to grow her company? I heard only useless trash rely on alliances. Ah, sorry, my wording just now seemed a bit impolite.”
After speaking, Mu Xingyu even put on a very apologetic expression, as if she truly had accidentally missurspoken.
However, Mu Xingyu underestimated the thickness of Murong Huai’s skin. She heard Murong Huai say, “I feel the same way. So, are you willing to break up with Feng Chichun and be with me?”
When she heard the first half of the sentence, Mu Xingyu wanted to curse, but when she heard the second half, her head was full of question marks.
So, when Feng Chichun said Murong Huai’s name matched his character (Bad/Wicked), was it actually his brain that was “bad”? Murong Huai might as well just change his name to “Brain is Bad.”
To this, Mu Xingyu could only say one thing: “Mr. Murong, have you considered donating your skin to help the country develop bulletproof vests?”
“Hahaha! Miss Mu is very humorous. But I’m not joking; I’m serious. I hope you will consider it.”
Mu Xingyu couldn’t even sit still anymore. she had been careless. She underestimated Murong Huai’s level; this move caught her completely off guard.
“I refuse your proposal. Furthermore, this behavior of yours—trying to steal someone’s partner—is truly despicable. Enjoy the meal yourself; I won’t be staying!” Mu Xingyu picked up her bag and left.
Once out of the restaurant, Mu Xingyu took out her phone and called Feng Chichun.
Tattling! She was definitely going to tattle!
In some novels, the female lead insists on hiding things from their partner when trouble arises, leading to endless misunderstandings.
She hated that kind of frustration the most; this matter could not be kept bottled up alone!
