Turns Out Seducing the Movie Queen Can Break the Plot - Chapter 61.3
The heavy tread of numerous leather shoes on the floor, among which was the sharp tap of high heels.
Many people were coming, heading straight for her office.
The moment she looked up, the office door was flung open. Jiang Chi stormed in, furious, and slammed a tablet onto Wen Wen’s desk.
Wen Wen picked it up and calmly examined the contents.
As expected, it was the video and photos she had recently arranged to release, exposing Su Jing’s “true nature.”
In the video, Su Jing deliberately stepped on a black cat’s paw, pressing down hard. But that wasn’t enough after seemingly enjoying the sight of the cat’s fur standing on end, she kicked it away with utter disdain. The black cat clearly wanted to get up and flee, but after several attempts, it couldn’t lift its front paw and collapsed weakly on the spot. Su Jing, however, still wasn’t satisfied. She walked over and delivered another kick to the cat’s belly, sending it flying. The cat let out a pained yowl before lying motionless on the ground.
Su Jing remained unfazed, muttering something under her breath.
Wen Wen could read lips, and she knew exactly what Su Jing had said: “Stop pretending to be dead, you wretched thing.”
Scrolling down, there were photos of Su Jing comforting Bai Yuetong kissing her cheek, kissing her forehead. Their intimate gestures made it impossible to believe there was nothing between them.
The comments section was flooded with condemnations of Su Jing.
Jiang Chi braced her hands on the desk, staring straight at Wen Wen as she demanded in a low voice, “Didn’t I warn you? Don’t touch him?”
Wen Wen casually tossed the tablet aside and leaned back in her chair. “I believe I reached out to you. You were the one who refused to see me. If you had come, these things would’ve stayed between us.”
She propped her elbows on the desk, leaning slightly forward to meet Jiang Chi’s gaze. “Chi Chi, you share some responsibility for this leak.”
“Wen Wen, did studying abroad for a year just give you a thicker skin? I remember you weren’t this shameless before. When did you become so brazen?”
Wen Wen studied her for a moment before reclining again. “Jiang Chi, whether you want to admit it or not,” she tapped the tablet, producing a sharp click, “these won’t magically turn into lies.”
“They are lies!” Jiang Chi hissed through gritted teeth. “I already asked him. That video was a private rehearsal for a scene the crew asked him to film. And those photos with Bai Yuetong? They were just rehearsing.”
“That’s what he told you?” Wen Wen arched a brow. “But if you barged into my office with all these people in tow, doesn’t that mean you didn’t believe him either? Did you come here for me to clear his name?”
The easiest way to overturn an accusation was for the culprit to step forward.
“I believe him,” Jiang Chi declared firmly.
“Really?” Wen Wen replied indifferently. “So what?”
Silence fell between them, the air crackling with tension as they locked eyes.
“So,” Jiang Chi finally broke the stalemate, “you will post a statement now. Clarify. Apologize.”
“If you do as I say, we can still be friends. Otherwise, Wen Wen, I don’t see any reason for us to meet again.”
Wen Wen’s interlaced fingers tightened abruptly, veins bulging on the back of her hands as she narrowed her eyes. “Are you saying you’d throw away over twenty years of friendship over a man?”
“You forced my hand, Wen Wen. I’ve warned you multiple times in private. I made it clear, don’t touch him. Yet you kept defying me, pushing my limits!”
Wen Wen seemed to recall something and suddenly chuckled to herself. “That thing with no principles is your bottom line? Chi Chi, must you degrade yourself like this?”
“What I do is none of your business!” Jiang Chi’s eyes burned with anger. “Wen Wen, don’t act so righteous. Don’t think I don’t know what you’re really after.”
“Oh?” Wen Wen asked curiously. “I’d really like to know what you think my intentions are.”
“You like Su Jing too.” It wasn’t a question but a statement of fact.
“Me?” Wen Wen appeared incredulous. “I like Su Jing?”
“Isn’t that obvious?” Now that the topic was out in the open, Jiang Chi saw no point in holding back. “Doesn’t the whole internet know? You, Wen Wen, like Su Jing. You can’t take your eyes off him whenever I’m around.”
“The only reason you dare to just watch is because I’m by his side, and you know you can’t have him. So you resort to these despicable tactics, trying to destroy what you can’t possess.”
“You’ve changed, Wen Wen. I feel like I don’t even know you anymore. You used to be so kind, not like this…” Jiang Chi wore an expression of unbearable regret, taking a deep breath before continuing,
“Let me make this clear to you now even if you destroy Su Jing, he will never be yours. He likes me. Your schemes are useless!”
Wen Wen stared at her for a long moment before finally letting out an uncontrollable cold laugh. “Jiang Chi, do you really think I did all this because I like Su Jing?”
“Isn’t that the case? I know Su Jing is gentle, outstanding, and handsome, but he’s the one I love, Wen Wen,” Jiang Chi fixed her with a gaze, her dark eyes unfathomable. “I never imagined we’d end up like this over a man, but it’s happened. One of us will have to compromise in the end.”
“If you’re willing to compromise, we can go back to how things were before, we can both…” go back.
Before she could finish, Wen Wen cut her off. “I don’t like him. Everything I did was for you. You’re completely blinded by him now.”
“You’ve never even met him!” Jiang Chi snapped sharply. “I know him better than you do! I don’t need you to tell me what kind of person he is. I know exactly who he is!”
“All I want to know now is whether you’ll agree to my proposal or not!”
“If you still want us to go back to how we were, besides clearing his name, you also have to promise me.”
Wen Wen interrupted her again, meeting her gaze calmly. “I won’t clear anything. Not a single frame or word in those videos and posts is false. I don’t think I’ve done anything wrong.”
“Even if everything you said is true, you’re destroying him!” Jiang Chi’s brows furrowed tightly. “You keep saying I’m your best, most important friend. Is this how you treat your friend’s boyfriend?”
“Honestly, if I’d known things would turn out like this that the person I love would be hurt by you Wen Wen, I’d rather have never met you at all.”
“What did you say?” Wen Wen slid her trembling hands beneath the desk. “Jiang Chi, do you realize what you just said?”
“I do. I mean it, Wen Wen. If I’d known you’d hurt someone I love like this, I’d rather have never known you.” Jiang Chi stared straight into her eyes. “To be honest, I’ve been thinking lately, did I really owe you in a past life? If so, I hope you’re not taking it out on the wrong person. Direct everything at me, but don’t hurt Su Jing.”
“Ha. Haha.” Wen Wen bent over the desk, shoulders trembling slightly as she struggled to contain her emotions, her voice shaking as she repeated, “You’d rather have never met me at all.”
Her heart ached dully. With immense effort, Wen Wen resisted the urge to clutch her chest. She took several deep breaths before lifting her head to look at the person standing before her, who was watching her with undisguised disgust. She tried to remain composed, but the corners of her eyes grew increasingly red, her voice trembling uncontrollably as she spoke slowly:
“You kept saying I was the most important person to you, Chi Chi. Is this how you treat your so-called most important person? Someone you can casually cut ties with? Someone you can say you’d rather never have met?”
“You were the one who messed up first. I told you, as long as you—”
“You know better than anyone, Jiang Chi, we can’t go back. You’re only saying this now because you want me to clear Su Jing’s name.” Wen Wen seemed utterly exhausted as she leaned back in the chair, closing her eyes. She took a deep breath before slowly opening them again, her gaze tracing the face before her that was so worried about someone else. “I promise you, I’ll clarify everything. From now on no, from this very second, I won’t interfere in any of your affairs.”
“From now on, as you wish, we’ll have nothing to do with each other. As if we never knew each other, strangers from here on out.”
“In that case, I’ll have our company’s tech team block your number specifically. Let’s not see each other again. Lastly, I hope you’ll keep your word.”
Wen Wen simply stared quietly at her face, as if memorizing every detail, not blinking as she calmly replied, “Fine.”
Jiang Chi studied her for a moment before abruptly straightening up. Without another word, she turned and left.
Watching her resolute retreating figure, Wen Wen swallowed hard several times before finally calling out, “Chi Chi.”
The hurried footsteps halted immediately, but the figure didn’t turn back.
Wen Wen continued as if to herself, “I used to wonder why your parents gave you the nickname ‘Chi Chi.’ I always thought it meant ‘steadfast devotion,’ a tribute to their own love story, and their wish for you to find someone worthy like they did.”
“But now it seems…” Wen Wen left the thought unfinished, merely savoring the name “Chi Chi” on her lips one last time. “Chi Chi, I wish you all the best.”
The figure paused for two seconds but never turned back before walking away.
Wen Wen leaned back in the chair, covering her eyes with the back of her hand.
Her arm could shield her eyes, but it couldn’t stop the tears.
“Sis? Sis?”
Jiang Chi?
That was Jiang Chi’s voice.
Not only did she hear it, but Wen Wen also felt a cool hand gently wiping away her tears.
That touch belonged to Jiang Chi alone.
Jiang Chi, have you come back?
Do you feel even a little reluctant to let me go too?
Was saying you’d rather never have known me just words spoken in anger?
“Sis? Wake up? Sis?”
The surrounding sounds grew clearer, the rustle of leaves in the wind, footsteps, voices…
Wen Wen slowly opened her eyes, but her vision was still blurry. The figure before her quickly sat up, fetched something, then lay facing her again. The next moment, the dry texture of a tissue touched the corner of her eye, gently wiping away her tears. Her blurred vision gradually cleared, like fog slowly dissipating.
Jiang Chi’s concerned voice came again, “What’s wrong, sis? Did you have a nightmare?”
Wen Wen looked at the face so close to hers, identical to the one in her dream, feeling somewhat dazed.
Jiang Chi waved a hand in front of her, “Sis? Are you awake now?”
Wen Wen blinked, letting out a soft sound from her throat, “Mmm.”
“Why are you crying?” Jiang Chi wiped away the fresh tears at the corners of her eyes. “Did you have a terrible nightmare?”
“Mmm, a very terrible one.”
“Really? What was it about?” Jiang Chi pressed.
“It’s nothing, just a dream. None of it was real.”
But it wasn’t a dream, it was reality. Every time she dreamed of it, she couldn’t stop the tears from overflowing even in her sleep, and the emotions lingered long after waking.
Jiang Chi pouted. “I had a nightmare too.”
“Oh?” Perhaps because the person from her dream was already by her side, Wen Wen calmed down quickly this time and humored him. “What a coincidence. What was your nightmare about?”
Jiang Chi grabbed her hand and whined pitifully, “I dreamed that you didn’t want me anymore. No matter how much I called for you, you ignored me. You said you’d never forgive me, that we could never go back.”
“I was so scared, it woke me up.” He stared into Wen Wen’s eyes, his gaze clearly seeking reassurance. “You wouldn’t abandon me, right?”
