Turns Out Seducing the Movie Queen Can Break the Plot - Chapter 61.2
“Oho, President Wen.” Jiang Miao nudged her shoulder. “No need to be so possessive. I’m just trying to have some fun for everyone.”
“Then should I also send a message to your beloved writer Zhu? For everyone’s amusement?”
“I was wrong.” Jiang Miao instantly backed down. “I was wrong, President Wen. I promise it won’t happen again. I won’t tease your little puppy anymore.”
“Speaking of which, last night, I was chatting with my Yuanyuan about you. She really likes you and said if her work ever gets adapted, she’d want you to play the lead.”
“In that case, if I reached out to her, she’d probably be thrilled, right?”
Wen Wen started walking toward the shore.
“No, absolutely not!” Jiang Miao chased after her. “If you contact Yuanyuan, what’s left for me?”
“You can’t just settle for unrequited love, Professor Jiang,” Wen Wen said, glancing at her and throwing Jiang Miao’s own words back at her verbatim. “In this day and age, pining silently and pure love stories are out of style. We have to strike while the iron’s hot, take the initiative, to secure a happy and fulfilling life.”
“Tch.” Jiang Miao cleared her throat. “It’s just, my situation is different from yours.”
“I don’t care! You’re not allowed to contact Yuanyuan, or else I’ll tell Jiang Chi that you’ve been flirting around!”
“Flirting around?”
A slightly cold voice cut into their conversation. The two turned around to see Jiang Chi staring at them with an amused smirk.
“Who’s flirting around? Sister, you? Professor Jiang, why don’t you enlighten me, how exactly has my sister been flirting around?”
Jiang Miao shot Wen Wen a look, raised her hands, and retreated toward the shore. “I didn’t say anything. Jiang Chi, you had the staff pack the fish, right? I’ll go get someone to help process it. You two handle things here, I won’t disturb you.”
She fled at lightning speed.
Wen Wen watched her escape, narrowing her eyes slightly. Since Jiang Miao had shown no mercy, she couldn’t blame her for retaliating.
She told Jiang Chi everything about Jiang Miao’s unrequited love for a college student writer.
Jiang Chi concluded: “So, your best friend is an old cow trying to eat tender grass, pining silently, and even indulging in an online crush?”
Wen Wen rapped her on the head. “Don’t stir up trouble. The point is, I don’t want her teasing you anymore. You can’t provoke her either.”
Jiang Chi rubbed the spot where she’d been hit. “Got it. I’ll listen to everything you say, sister.”
Wen Wen raised an eyebrow. “Really?”
Jiang Chi immediately thought of that kind of thing and grinned. “I’ll listen within reason.”
Then she leaned in close to Wen Wen’s ear, lightly nipping her earlobe as she whispered, “Sister, no matter the reason, don’t go flirting around. Otherwise, I’ll get angry.”
A thought suddenly occurred to her. “Sister, Ji Mei hasn’t been bothering or provoking you again, has she?”
Wen Wen shook her head.
Jiang Chi snorted, “She clearly still has ulterior motives. You mustn’t pay her any attention, sis. Your eyes should only be on me.”
She nuzzled against Wen Wen’s neck.
Wen Wen pinched her cheek and tugged lightly. “I think you were right before, we really are a perfect match.”
“Of course! We’re the ultimate pair, the heavenly match!” Jiang Chi stared at her, raising a hand to slowly trace her fingertip over Wen Wen’s lips before leaning in closer. Just as their lips were about to meet, a loud cough erupted beside them.
The intimate atmosphere instantly shattered. The two exchanged a glance before simultaneously turning their heads toward the mood-killer.
Jiang Miao crossed her arms defiantly. “You should be grateful it’s me who came to get you. Hurry up, Director Xu wants everyone to gather.”
Jiang Chi: “Sis, don’t you think your friend here is a bit annoying?”
Wen Wen: “A little, yeah.”
They walked right past Jiang Miao as if she weren’t there.
“And a bit lacking in tact.”
“Mhm.”
“Seems a little slow too.”
“Hey!” Before Wen Wen could “mindlessly” agree again, Jiang Miao cut in sharply. “I’m still standing here, you know.”
Jiang Chi tilted her head. “We’re saying it for you to hear. Enjoying it?”
Jiang Miao huffed. “Aren’t you two being a bit ungrateful?”
“Oh, right.” Jiang Chi suddenly remembered something and turned back to Wen Wen, deliberately emphasizing, “Sis, last time, she was the one who told me the passcode to your front door. Someone who leaks personal security so easily must have questionable character, don’t you think?”
Wen Wen nodded. “Seems so.”
Jiang Miao: “…” Her gaze swept between the two women before she let out a cold laugh. “You two really are made for each other. Please stay locked together and spare the rest of the world.”
Jiang Chi called after her retreating figure, “Thanks for the blessing! We will.” Then she turned to Wen Wen with a worried expression. “Sis, is your good friend mad now?”
Wen Wen played along. “Should I go comfort her?”
Jiang Chi wrapped an arm around her shoulders, effectively trapping her. “No.”
When all the guests gathered, Su Jing and Bai Yuetong, who had just arrived onshore, were still sitting on the ground.
Director Xu: “I trust no one has any objections to the rankings for today’s mission. Now, let’s distribute the rewards to each team.”
A staff member handed out envelopes of equal thickness to each group.
Director Xu pointed in a direction. “Today’s tasks are over. Everyone worked hard, hope you all get a good night’s sleep.”
“Friendly reminder: our Heartbeat Convenience Store is over there. Feel free to shop for anything you need. Happy shopping!”
The guests moved toward the store, which looked identical to the setup from the last recording, though the merchandise had been adjusted for this trip.
Their first collective thought was about tonight’s lodging, so they headed straight to the tent section. The staff explained that there were three types: single, double, and triple occupancy, all priced at 200 yuan.
Jiang Miao frowned. “Can’t the single one be cheaper?”
The staff smiled politely. “We maintain uniform pricing year-round.”
Jiang Miao: “…”
Jiang Chi: “Sis, it seems your good friend doesn’t want to share a tent with us. Is she still upset?”
Wen Wen: “No, she’s just trying to save us money.”
Jiang Miao: “……”
Jiang Chi: “Little Jiang, if you really want to save us money, why don’t you take a flight back right now?”
Wen Wen: “How do you know she’s younger than you?”
Jiang Chi replied honestly: “I searched for her online. Besides, didn’t you mention last time that she enrolled a year later than you? Since you remember her enrollment date so clearly, how could I not do my research? After all, know yourself and know your enemy, and you’ll never be defeated.”
Turning to Jiang Miao, she continued: “Didn’t you already think joining our show would be exhausting? Going back now would be perfect timing. I’ll endure the hardships for you.”
Wen Wen: “……”
“……” Jiang Miao was torn between laughter and tears. “Miss Jiang, are you addicted to playing the green tea bitch? Must you hold such a grudge?” With that, she snatched the money from Wen Wen’s hand and handed two hundred to the staff. “We’ll take a three-person tent, thank you.”
Staring straight into Jiang Chi’s eyes, she enunciated each word: “I. Will. Sleep. Between. You. Two. Tonight.”
But she didn’t follow through.
At bedtime, Jiang Miao conscientiously curled up in the farthest corner of the tent, trying to minimize her presence. Before falling asleep, she casually remarked, “Hey lovebirds, keep it decent, alright?”
Even without her reminder, Jiang Chi had no such intentions. Everyone was exhausted after the day’s tasks.
Jiang Chi kissed Wen Wen’s forehead and whispered, “Goodnight.”
The mountain night was tranquil, occasionally interrupted by the indistinct calls of unknown animals, creating a chaotic symphony.
Though physically drained, her spirits were inexplicably low, making sleep elusive.
Wen Wen opened her eyes and, by the dim tent light, gazed at the sleeping face before her. She poked Jiang Chi’s cheek warm, soft, real.
Snuggling closer into Jiang Chi’s embrace, she soon fell asleep again, but restlessly, dragged into one bizarre dream after another, as if trying to tear her mind apart.
Finally, the dreams stabilized, though the setting was far from pleasant.
Wen Wen dreamed of the day she and Jiang Chi had their falling out.
She was working at her desk when sudden commotion erupted outside. Pausing her pen, she listened to the approaching footsteps.
