Turns Out Seducing the Movie Queen Can Break the Plot - Chapter 61.1
“Will there be a reward if I’m good?”
Wen Wen slightly raised her delicate brows, gazing at her with an ambiguous look, her fingers playfully entwining with hers. “Do you need a reward?”
Jiang Chi instantly caught the underlying meaning in her words: Do you really need such an excuse as a reward?
Ever since they confirmed their relationship, Wen Wen had been completely indulgent, letting her have whatever she wanted.
It seemed she truly didn’t need such an excuse.
She caught the mischievous fingers and gave them a gentle squeeze, her smile radiant. “Sister, you’re the best to me.”
Jiang Miao, who had rolled back at some point, grabbed Wen Wen’s arm and mimicked Jiang Chi’s tone. “Sister, you’re the worst to me. You don’t even respond when I talk to you.”
Wen Wen: “…”
Jiang Chi’s gaze immediately shifted, locking onto Jiang Miao’s deliberately provoking face.
Just then, Jin Jin Yi and Ji Mei came ashore.
Jin Jin Yi collapsed onto the ground as soon as he reached the shore. Ji Mei, spotting Wen Wen, tried to walk over despite exhaustion but was halted by two scrutinizing gazes. She gave up and lay down on the spot.
Jiang Chi retracted her gaze, only to meet Jiang Miao’s teasing eyes. She ignored her and turned to Wen Wen instead. “Sister, do you want to eat fish? I think I saw some in the river earlier! Let’s go catch some, okay?”
Her mood swings were as fast as a Sichuan opera face-changer.
But, it was kind of amusing.
Jiang Miao watched her with a smirk, clearly entertained.
Noticing Jiang Miao’s gaze, Wen Wen, who had known her for years immediately understood her thoughts. She sat up and said to Jiang Chi, “How? With our bare hands?”
Jiang Chi scanned the surroundings. The riverbank was open, with tall trees and only thin branches scattered on the ground, no usable tools.
They’d have to catch the fish barehanded.
“Let’s just treat it as fun. Who knows when the next group will arrive?”
Her eyes sparkled with anticipation.
Jiang Miao: “Sounds interesting. I’ll join too.”
Wen Wen stood up. “Let’s go together. If we actually catch some fish, we might save some money on food from the production team later.”
She turned to Jiang Chi. “Go test the water depth with the paddle first. We’ll try in the shallow area, safety first.”
Jiang Chi immediately sprang into action. After running a few steps, she suddenly backtracked, grabbed Jiang Miao, and pulled her along. “You’re coming with me. More hands make lighter work.”
Jiang Miao was dragged away before she could react. Wen Wen watched their retreating figures and shook her head helplessly two childish people combined only doubled the childishness.
Once the two had scouted out a safe area in the river, all three waded into the water. The evening water was cool, offering a uniquely refreshing sensation.
Standing separately in the shallow safe zone, they focused intently on the water. Time and again, they lunged and missed, but they didn’t lose heart. Like tireless children, they kept trying waiting, grabbing, missing, repeating the cycle, thoroughly enjoying themselves.
When Jiang Chi missed yet again, nearly plunging face-first into the water, Jiang Miao didn’t hold back her laughter. “Teacher Jiang, another miss. Seems like your skills aren’t up to par, huh?”
Jiang Chi steadied herself, standing as straight as a tree with arms crossed, and looked at her: “Oh? Seems Teacher Jiang isn’t familiar with the phrases ‘pot calling the kettle black’ and ‘the fifty-step laughs at the hundred-step’?”
Jiang Miao shot her a glance while peripherally noticing a fish surfacing to breathe near her leg. Pressing a finger to her lips with confident precision, she made her move only to grasp at empty water with a splash as the fish escaped, flicking her face with its tail.
Jiang Chi laughed heartily without restraint, throwing her words right back: “Teacher Jiang, another miss! Seems your skills aren’t quite up to par.”
Jiang Miao retaliated by splashing water directly at her: “Didn’t you know? Incompetence is contagious!”
Jiang Chi flicked water back: “If anyone’s contagious, it’s you infecting me!”
Just like that, the two launched into a full-blown water fight.
Not satisfied, Jiang Miao tried to recruit Wen Wen: “Wen Wen, join in! Be on my team!”
Jiang Chi retaliated with a huge splash right into Jiang Miao’s face: “If she’s joining anyone, it’s my team! Sister, come help me!”
Wen Wen: “…”
“Do you two even remember why we’re in the water?”
Jiang Chi answered instantly: “To catch fish!”
“So where are the fish?” Wen Wen’s gaze swept over them. “Keep this up and you’ll scare them all away.”
With that, she scooped two handfuls of water and splashed both their faces.
The two culprits froze mid-scolding: “???”
Thus began the three-way water battle.
Under the orange dusk, water flew everywhere.
As Wen Wen normally reached into the water, her hands happened to close around a passing fish. Realizing her catch, she tightened her grip and lifted it triumphantly: “Got one.”
Her reward was two direct water jets to the face.
Seeing the fish in her hands, the two instigators exchanged glances before all three locked eyes under the sunset, bursting into simultaneous laughter.
The golden-orange light draped over them like a cloak of victory.
After the trio entered the water, Jin Jin Yi and Ji Mei also joined the fishing brigade. Equally unsuccessful after multiple attempts and thoroughly drenched, they had been dutifully waiting for opportunities when the trio’s carefree laughter reached them.
Once the laughter subsided, Ji Mei erupted into seal-like applause, praising: “Sister Wen is amazing! Truly, talented people succeed effortlessly at everything!”
Silence lingered for several seconds.
Jiang Chi frowned slightly as if pondering something, then snapped her fingers: “I completely agree with that statement.”
Jiang Miao also snapped her fingers: “I completely agree too.”
Jiang Chi shot her a look. Jiang Miao blinked innocently: “What?”
“Are you some kind of copycat?”
“Am I?” Jiang Miao beamed. “If you want me to be, then sure.”
Just as Jiang Chi prepared to counter, Wen Wen’s voice interrupted: “Jiang Chi, come here.”
Jiang Chi immediately fell silent, scampering over obediently: “Sister, what is it?”
If she had a tail, Wen Wen was certain she’d see it wagging wildly behind Jiang Chi. Suppressing a smile, she said: “Weren’t we catching fish? Here.” She pressed the captured fish into Jiang Chi’s hands.
Jiang Chi shot an exaggerated glance at Jiang Miao and declared loudly: “Sister, this is the fish you caught, are you really giving it to me?”
Jiang Miao mercilessly exposed her: “It’s only because they saw you couldn’t possibly catch one that they gave it to you.”
“Whatever.” Jiang Chi didn’t care in the slightest, still beaming with joy. “You’re just jealous!” Then she turned back to Wen Wen. “Sister, let me quickly put the fish away now.”
The fish was still struggling desperately to escape back into the river, so taking it ashore was the safest option.
Wen Wen walked over to Jiang Miao. “Stop teasing her.”
Jiang Miao: “Why not? Teasing your little puppy is really fun.”
Wen Wen: “You said it yourself, she’s my little puppy.”
