Turns Out Seducing the Movie Queen Can Break the Plot - Chapter 60.2
Jiang Chi recognized the voice, it was Wen Wen’s personal assistant.
Wen Wen trembled slightly, struggling to sit up straight as she pressed down on Jiang Chi’s arm. “Don’t move,” she said.
Jiang Chi obediently complied.
Wen Wen quickly regained her usual composure and sat at her desk. “Come in,” she called.
The moment the door closed, the previously docile figure instantly turned rebellious. Warm breath brushed against her skin as Wen Wen’s hands, braced against the desk, trembled faintly. She forced herself to remain calm and asked, “Did you bring the documents?”
Her assistant, noticing nothing amiss, placed a file on the desk and began detailing the data to Wen Wen.
“Alright.” Wen Wen endured for a moment before finally interrupting. “If there’s nothing else, you can leave for now. I’ll go through the specifics myself later.”
“Understood.” The assistant withdrew.
Wen Wen immediately slumped back into her chair.
The sunlight that had illuminated most of the office gradually shifted to a corner. Jiang Chi straightened up, stood, and leaned down to kiss Wen Wen only for the woman beneath her to turn her face away. Jiang Chi chuckled. “What? Does my sister dislike herself now?”
Wen Wen merely replied weakly, “I don’t want to talk to a bad puppy.”
Jiang Chi nuzzled against her neck, took a deep breath, then brushed her cheek against Wen Wen’s before whispering into her ear, “How could I be a bad puppy? When I’ve made my sister feel so good, shouldn’t I be the universe’s best puppy? Hmm?”
Wen Wen insisted, “Bad puppy.”
Jiang Chi let out a soft laugh, fully embracing the title, and subtly threatened, “If my sister won’t let me kiss her, then later, this bad puppy will make sure she has to be carried out of the office. How does that sound?”
Wen Wen turned to look at her, her gaze inscrutable.
Jiang Chi met her eyes with a playful grin. “My sister knows exactly what I mean, right?”
Seeing her earnest and ready-to-act expression, Wen Wen asked sincerely, “Have I spoiled you too much?”
Jiang Chi obediently nuzzled her cheek. “Mhm. My sister spoiled me rotten.”
Wen Wen resignedly closed her eyes, waiting for the kiss but it never came.
Puzzled, she opened her eyes to find Jiang Chi simply smiling at her, speaking slowly, “It’s different now. My sister has to kiss me first, or it doesn’t count.”
Wen Wen froze for half a second before muttering, “Bad puppy,” then wrapped her arms around Jiang Chi’s neck, pulling her down into a kiss.
It was a long, tender kiss.
A few days later, the postponed recording of Heartbeat Summer resumed after a week’s delay.
The guests reconvened for the show.
Director Xu addressed them, “This is the final recording of our program. Compared to previous episodes, both the location and task difficulty have been significantly increased. I urge everyone to prioritize safety above all else while completing the tasks. Once the mission is over, I hope you’ll happily and unscathed choose a travel destination with your successfully matched partner for a three-day getaway. That will be the ultimate reward.”
“So, everyone, please be careful.”
Hearing this, Jiang Chi suddenly remembered the show’s final prize for successfully matched couples, a luxury, all-expenses-paid three-day trip to any destination of their choice!
She leaned toward Wen Wen. “Sister, is there somewhere you especially want to go?”
Wen Wen replied, “Yes.”
Jiang Chi pressed, “Where? Where?”
Wen Wen answered, “Slovenia.”
Jiang Chi pinched her chin in thought for a moment. “I’ve never paid attention to this place before, but no worries! We’ll go there when the time comes, I’ll handle the planning!”
Wen Wen gazed into her sparkling eyes, suppressing the flutter in her heart, and simply replied softly, “Okay.”
Jiang Chi’s eyes curved into crescents. “Great! It’s a promise then!”
Director Xu announced, “Today’s task is for everyone to find a way to cross the river in front of us. You can use the remaining funds from last time to purchase some tools from the production team.”
The staff revealed the so-called tools only hemp ropes and pre-cut bamboo poles.
“If you don’t have enough money, you’ll need to figure out another way or seek money-making opportunities from the production team.”
“The first team to reach the opposite bank will receive 500 yuan in funding, followed by 300 yuan for second place and 100 yuan for third. Good luck, everyone.”
Jiang Miao piped up, “Director, as a newcomer, don’t I get any special benefits?”
“You do,” Director Xu declared with a wave of his hand. A staff member promptly placed two bamboo poles in front of Jiang Miao, making the “newcomer benefit” self-explanatory.
Just then, Ji Mei exclaimed excitedly, “I think we have just enough money!”
Jiang Miao glanced at them, then turned to her two teammates. “I secured two bamboo poles. What about the money you have?”
Wen Wen was currently counting their funds. After tallying up what they had, she checked the prices of the bamboo and the ropes.
“We have enough.”
Thus, the well-funded team quickly purchased the necessary tools and began constructing a bamboo raft.
As for the only team short on funds, Su Bai’s group the production team’s money-making opportunity involved enjoying some “delicacies” in the great outdoors.
The raft-builders occasionally heard retching sounds behind them but didn’t let it distract them.
The trio worked the fastest, completing their raft by the time the Jin-Ji team was only halfway done.
Crossing the river on the raft wasn’t smooth sailing. Occasional strong winds forced the guests to paddle vigorously just to stay in place and avoid being blown backward.
By the time they finally reached the shore, all three collapsed onto the ground, utterly exhausted.
The setting sun cast golden-orange light over them, like a warm blanket draping over their tired bodies.
Jiang Miao finally caught her breath. “Didn’t I sign up for a dating show? This is a dating show, right? Aren’t dating shows supposed to be about romance? Why does it feel like I’m on a survival challenge.?”
Only the howling wind answered her.
She tilted her head, pinched Wen Wen’s chin, and turned her face toward her, teasing, “Sweetheart, it’s awkward when you don’t answer my questions, you know?”
Wen Wen mercilessly swatted her hand away. “Seems like you’re not that tired after all.”
Jiang Miao pouted and tried to scoot closer to Wen Wen, only to have a hand press down on her shoulder.
Looking up, she met Jiang Chi’s less-than-friendly gaze.
Jiang Miao raised an eyebrow, feigning innocence. “Something wrong, Miss Jiang?”
Jiang Chi smirked slightly. “Nothing. I was just wondering if there are any fish in this river.”
Jiang Miao understood the implied threat being thrown into the river as fish food and wisely raised her hands, rolling backward to put distance between herself and Wen Wen.
With the rival dealt with, Jiang Chi’s resentful gaze shifted to her girlfriend.
Amused, Wen Wen gave her fingers propped beside her, a gentle squeeze, silently coaxing her. “Be good.”
Jiang Chi leaned close to her ear and whispered, “What’s my reward if I behave?”
