Turns Out Seducing the Movie Queen Can Break the Plot - Chapter 46
Almost the second they hid, the infirmary door was violently flung open, slamming against the wall with a thunderous bang.
The sudden noise made both girls under the table tremble simultaneously.
Wen Wen carefully pulled a chair in front of them as cover. Though it couldn’t completely conceal them, it might buy time to evade the Specter if discovered as long as they weren’t caught, they wouldn’t be eliminated.
Gradually, the infirmary filled with chaotic noises kicking cabinets, banging walls, pacing footsteps, rummaging through drawers, even fighting, it was quite the lively scene.
[Seriously though, is this Pandemonium? It’s weirdly hilarious]
[Right? Everyone’s just going nuts and throwing hands totally captures the modern youth’s mental state lololol]
[Damn, the whole screen’s just HAHAHA, guess I’m not the only one laughing]
[They’re heading straight for their hiding spot!]
Listening to the commotion outside, Jiang Chi leaned close to Wen Wen’s ear: “Jiejie, actually.”
Before she could finish, her mouth was covered. Without warning, a soft warmth pressed against her as Wen Wen’s cheek touched hers, warm breath brushing her ear: “They’re coming.”
Jiang Chi immediately understood Wen Wen had moved closer just to block the faintly glowing green sign.
An inexplicable pang of disappointment rose in her heart.
Dark eyes glinting in the shadows, Jiang Chi curled her lips slightly and flicked her tongue against the palm covering her mouth. As expected, the body pressed against hers trembled slightly, though the hand withdrew while the warmth remained.
The whisper still lingered by her ear: “Don’t mess around.”
Jiang Chi feigned innocence: “I could barely breathe.”
Just then, a loud THUD sounded on the table above them. A voice exploded right in their faces: “HA! Found you!”
Wen Wen reacted instantly, releasing Jiang Chi to grip the shielding chair firmly before them.
In the dim green glow, both saw the general appearance of the Specter NPCs surrounding them, classic horror costumes: tattered white gowns, filthy ankle-length hair.
Soon, more white-gowned figures appeared behind the first, then more and more.
[Looks like a zombie siege, my trypophobia’s acting up]
[The Specters suddenly seem normal?]
[Not just normal weirdly united?]
[Welp, Jiang-Wen game over]
[They’re doomed, no way they’re plowing through that horde.]
“Come out, we see you.”
“No escaping now, stop struggling.”
“Hehehe fresh meat to join our ranks!”
“All for one and one for all in death!”
A cacophony of raspy, hysterical voices overlapped as clawed hands reached for the chair one pair, then two.
The girls held the chair desperately, but this was unsustainable. Outnumbered by the spectral horde, their resistance seemed futile.
Their minds raced for solutions.
Suddenly, a hand reached through the gap in the chairs toward Wen Wen. Jiang Chi instinctively pulled her close by the shoulders to dodge it. In the struggle, something must have been triggered, the space beneath them gave way abruptly, and Jiang Chi fell through completely unprepared. She reacted swiftly, letting go of Wen Wen.
Her intention was to prevent Wen Wen from falling, after all everything here was unknown.
As she fell, she even gave Wen Wen an upward push, deliberately taking the glowing green sign with her. She hoped the “specters” would think both of them had fallen through. She believed Wen Wen might understand her reasoning.
But who could have guessed? Even after she landed at the bottom, the rustling sounds continued to echo through the tunnel.
Jiang Chi instinctively dodged to the side, and the next second, another figure landed on the cushion at the tunnel entrance.
“Sister?”
“It’s me.”
The moment the words left her lips, Jiang Chi felt a hand press against her face, followed by Wen Wen’s worried voice: “Are you okay? Are you hurt anywhere?”
Compared to the toilet stall, the tunnel was narrower and more enclosed more like a coffin.
And the tunnel stretched so far.
Jiang Chi grasped her hand, nuzzling her cheek against Wen Wen’s palm obediently. “I’m fine.”
“Good.” Wen Wen felt the weight crushing her heart slowly lift.
No sooner had she spoken than the surroundings suddenly brightened. The abrupt light made both of them raise their hands to shield their eyes. Once adjusted, they could finally see the space clearly.
It was a young girl’s bedroom, entirely themed in pink, pink bedsheets, pink throw pillows, and beside them, a human-shaped pillow with its face slashed. The pink walls were covered in bizarre graffiti and scribbled words.
Unlike the vulgar phrases in the toilet stall, these writings were filled with the girl’s unspeakable secrets.
Yet the room still exuded an eerie atmosphere.
Perhaps it was the defaced human-shaped pillow, or perhaps the chaotic, incoherent scrawls on the walls.
Jiang Chi couldn’t help but murmur, “Is this what unrequited love does to people? Isn’t this a bit too extreme.”
Her hand, hanging at her side, unconsciously clenched tight. Wen Wen looked up at her, lips trembling as if to speak, but in the end, she said nothing.
Jiang Chi’s gaze returned to her just then, noticing her odd expression. She hurried forward, gripping Wen Wen’s shoulders as she checked her over. “Sister, are you hurt somewhere?”
Earlier, the “specters” had been so frantic in their attempts to pry the chairs apart, and Wen Wen had been on the outside, bearing the brunt of their force.
“Did you pull a muscle in your arm?”
“Or hit something?”
Wen Wen stared fixedly at her, at the worry creasing her brow, and something stirred in her chest. She reached up, cupping Jiang Chi’s face to stop her from turning her head.
Their eyes met. Jiang Chi blinked in confusion, her dark, bright eyes sparkling like stars.
Unable to resist, Wen Wen pinched her cheeks.
The soft flesh puffed out under her fingers, Jiang Chi’s rosy lips puckering adorably.
Even cuter now.
Jiang Chi blinked twice more, struggling to speak. “Sister? What’s wrong?”
Her voice came out muffled.
After hesitating again and again, Wen Wen finally spoke. “Would this kind of behavior scare you?”
Would you be afraid of me?
“What behavior?” Jiang Chi didn’t understand at first, but realization dawned quickly. Yet she didn’t answer immediately, instead taking the question seriously.
Silence spread through the pink-filled room. Wen Wen’s face remained expressionless, yet her mood seemed to gradually sink into the depths of a dark night.
After what felt like an eternity, Jiang Chi removed the hand pinching her own cheek and said earnestly, “Actually, it’s not about whether I’m afraid or not. I just don’t quite understand, if you like someone so much, why not just say it outright?”
“If I like someone, I’d tell them directly without hesitation. As long as they don’t show disgust, I’d keep pursuing them.”
“Though most times, expressing your feelings is about hoping for a positive response, not everything in this world goes according to our wishes. Even so, if I like someone, I’d still choose to say it.”
“I don’t want to be like the female lead in this story, only able to vent such pain through words.” Jiang Chi glanced at the messy scribbles and writings covering the walls. “I’d choose short-term pain over long-term suffering just tell her directly.”
“Being liked is a joyful thing. For her, it might give her strength. For me, success would bring lasting happiness, and failure would just mean temporary pain. I’d get over it soon enough.”
Suddenly, Su Jing’s face flashed through her mind.
Her words sounded noble, but putting them into practice wasn’t quite the same.
Su Jing was her first love, the person she’d loved desperately before her awakening.
True to her words, she had expressed her love boldly and pursued it courageously, but after succeeding, wasn’t she also the one who clung stubbornly, unwilling to let go?
She wasn’t as carefree as she claimed. If not for her awakening.
And! She suddenly remembered Wen Wen was currently experiencing unrequited love!
The object of Wen Wen’s unrequited love was Su Jing. Was she now encouraging Wen Wen to confess to Su Jing?
No! That was absolutely not her intention.
Jiang Chi cleared her throat and continued, “However, this still depends on many specific circumstances considering yourself and others. I believe the protagonist chose unrequited love for very important, unspoken reasons. I completely respect her decision.”
As her words faded, the atmosphere grew heavy.
Wen Wen lowered her gaze slightly, lost in thought.
Jiang Chi studied her expression carefully and asked tentatively, “What do you think, sis?”
Wen Wen didn’t answer her question but changed the subject instead: “Do you believe one person can’t live without another?”
Jiang Chi pondered seriously for a moment. “I don’t believe that. I’m more inclined to think time can heal all wounds.”
Though, before her awakening, she’d believed she couldn’t live without Su Jing, now she truly felt this way.
Time heals everything. If it hasn’t healed yet, then there just hasn’t been enough time.
“What about you, sis? What are your thoughts on this?”
She hoped Wen Wen felt the same, because if Wen Wen suddenly decided to confess to Su Jing, she would undoubtedly be rejected.
“My thoughts? I truly can’t live without her.”
When Wen Wen first fell for Jiang Chi, she’d believed she couldn’t live without her. So when she learned Jiang Chi had a boyfriend, her first instinct was to destroy that man.
Later, when Jiang Chi broke up with her because of Su Jing, she felt as if the sky had suddenly collapsed, the sun had fallen to the earth’s surface, burning everything to ashes, leaving only desolation.
Originally, going abroad was meant to ensure a comfortable future together with Jiang Chi. Who would have thought that Su Jing would appear halfway?
When she finally decided to give up, she told herself: live if you can, and if you can’t, then don’t.
After all, this world no longer had a sun, it was bound to be destroyed.
Now, Jiang Chi’s return and provocation only strengthened her conviction that she truly couldn’t live without Jiang Chi.
Her world needed the sun, even if holding onto it would scorch and destroy her. She wouldn’t let go.
She would use every means possible to keep Jiang Chi by her side.
Wen Wen’s answer made Jiang Chi’s heart skip a beat. She asked cautiously, “Sister, are you serious?”
Wen Wen had been smiling when she spoke, making it seem like a joke to Jiang Chi.
“Yes, very serious,” Wen Wen replied firmly, meeting her gaze.
“So, sister, do you have someone you have unrequited love for?” Jiang Chi’s emotions were inexplicably complicated. Though she already knew the answer, she still wanted confirmation. “Can you tell me who it is?”
Maybe, just maybe, it would be different from what she knew?
