Turns Out Seducing the Movie Queen Can Break the Plot - Chapter 47
When Jiang Chi asked this question, she was both fearful and hopeful 99% fearful that Wen Wen truly liked Su Jing, and 1% hopeful that the name she’d hear wouldn’t be Su Jing’s.
There seemed to be another voice in her heart.
That voice seemed to say, with 100% certainty, that she hoped Wen Wen wouldn’t utter Su Jing’s name.
Wen Wen stared at her for a moment, then slightly tilted her chin toward the blinking red dot of the surveillance camera installed in the corner, a faint smile curling her lips. “Are you asking me to announce this directly in front of a national audience?”
Jiang Chi: “…”
She had forgotten they were still filming.
Really, her mind was completely filled with nothing but Wen Wen.
“Alright,” Jiang Chi coughed lightly. She could just ask privately later. She raised a hand to rub her nose. “Then let’s hurry and look for clues now.”
Wen Wen nodded in agreement. She scanned the room, her gaze quickly sweeping over the graffiti on the walls, when suddenly a shadow fell beside her. The next second, her fingers were pried apart Jiang Chi slipped her own fingers in, interlacing them tightly with hers.
“?”
Jiang Chi turned her face away, not looking at her, and raised her other hand to rub her nose again, speaking with feigned nonchalance. “I’m afraid the lights might suddenly go out again.”
Wen Wen suppressed a smile. “Fine, then hold on tight.”
Jiang Chi’s eyes flickered, but she said nothing, only silently tightening her grip.
[Are these two not already dating?]
[Wait a minute isn’t this supposed to be a horror escape room? Why does it feel like a romantic drama instead? Did I click on the wrong channel?]
[Little lovebirds holding hands, walking together till ninety-nine.]
[Calling it now, the person Wen Wen has unrequited love for is definitely Jiang Chi!]
[Agree with the sister above! At this point, it feels like the only person in the world who doesn’t know is Jiang Chi herself.]
[Not only does she not know, she probably thinks Wen Wen likes Su Jing.]
[LMAO what, did y’all get hold of the script or something?]
The two circled the moderately sized room but found nothing unusual apart from the things on the walls.
The only untouched objects left in the room were the bed and the two unopened body pillows.
Wen Wen walked to the bed and picked up one of the pillows, trying to loosen their intertwined hands only for Jiang Chi to grip her even tighter.
She turned her head to see Jiang Chi pouting pitifully. “You, you’re trying to let go again.”
Wen Wen: “……”
She attempted to defend herself. “The lights probably won’t go out now.”
Earlier, the lights had turned on to allow the NPCs to perform their scenes. Since nothing unusual had happened since then, it was unlikely anything else would occur.
If she wasn’t mistaken, this should be the final area with clues.
Jiang Chi blinked innocently. “But, what if?”
[Ohoho, someone just can’t bear to let go, huh?]
[Wen Wen: I don’t know, she just won’t release my hand, no idea why.]
Wen Wen said nothing more. Instead, she propped the pillow upright on the bed, letting Jiang Chi steady it, then unzipped it. The two worked together this way to inspect both pillows. When they pulled out the stuffing from the body pillow, a card fell out along with it.
Jiang Chi picked it up and found that it was Qin Feng’s expired ID card.
“Jie, this might be useful for something?”
Wen Wen shook her head: “We don’t know yet.”
Though she said that, she had a rough guess in her mind.
“Let’s lift this mattress and take a look.”
Each holding one end, they lifted the mattress. As expected, beneath it lay a pink diary with a combination lock.
They exchanged a knowing glance. Jiang Chi then voluntarily let go of Wen Wen’s hand, using both hands to support the mattress: “Sister, you take it out.”
Wen Wen glanced at her and, as instructed, picked up the diary.
After setting the mattress back down, they both sat on the bed.
Jiang Chi leaned in to examine the combination lock: “It’s a four-digit code. So, Qin Feng’s birthday?”
“Possibly,” Wen Wen agreed. “Let’s try it.”
Jiang Chi: “10.16.”
The clicking sound of the lock turning echoed faintly in the quiet air.
After entering all the digits, the lock didn’t open.
Jiang Chi frowned: “Is there something we haven’t found yet?”
It shouldn’t be.
Wen Wen looked up at the graffiti on the wall. There shouldn’t be anything left unfound; rather, there must be something they overlooked.
Some of the writings had dates attached, but her intuition told her none of these were the code.
There was still something she was missing.
She mentally retraced the three NPCs’ storyline performances and slowly stood up.
Jiang Chi immediately stood up with her: “What’s wrong?”
Wen Wen turned and looked at the bed before them, saying calmly, “Let’s move the bed.”
Without further questions, Jiang Chi followed her lead.
Together, they pushed the bed away from its original position. As the bed moved, something suddenly fell to the floor with a soft thud. Wen Wen tilted her head to look and saw a stack of folded envelopes.
The missing love letters.
Once the bed was completely moved, the scene beneath it was fully revealed.
The floor under the bed was blood-red, emitting an indescribable foul odor. Wen Wen couldn’t help but frown. On the wall, previously hidden by the bedhead, was a glaring blood-red message:
Qin Feng, happy anniversary.
2020.5.2
Wen Wen immediately entered the numbers. With a click, the diary opened.
Inside, it was filled with the musings of a young girl’s heart.
19.2.28
Went to watch him play basketball today. He’s so handsome, more dazzling than sunlight in this world.
19.3.20
He smiled at me today! My whole world seemed to light up.
19.3.21
A contact suddenly appeared under the desk. I sent a message asking if it was Qin Feng.
He said yes.
I knew it!
He smiled at me yesterday because he likes me!
19.5.18
We chat every day. He’s so gentle.
But in class, he never talks to me, just like before, as if we’ve never met, and he doesn’t even look at me properly.
But I asked him, and he said it’s because he’s too popular, and showing me special attention might invite jealousy.
He’s so considerate. I love him so much.
19.5.20
Today’s date is special. I confessed to him.
He said yes!
Qin Feng is my boyfriend.
Qin Feng = boyfriend
After this day, many entries were sweet daily snippets, but their interactions remained solely online. Offline, they never interacted, with the boy always using the excuse of fearing the girl would face gossip to avoid meeting in person.
The content that followed gradually grew dark and twisted, much like the words scrawled in the farthest stall of the restroom each line dripping with boundless hatred.
19.12.13
Qin Feng, why did you agree to strive for the same university as another girl? What does that make us then?
19.12.24
Love letters almost every day! Why so many? Why is everyone coveting my boyfriend?
Damn them, damn them all, just die already.
20.3.6
That bastard Liu Jingshan actually dared to deceive me! Pretending to be Qin Feng and dating me! Who does he think he is? How dare he compare himself to Qin Feng!
20.3.8
Qin Feng looked at me with such disgust. It feels like the sun has vanished from this world.
20.5.10
Qin Feng, you have no heart.
20.5.20
Qin Feng, let’s go together to paradise.
Jiang Chi: “Seems like there aren’t any clues pointing to how Qin Feng died.”
Wen Wen: “Let’s pick up the letters and take a look.”
The two gathered all the letters and placed them on the bed, opening them one by one.
After examining a few, Jiang Chi noticed the salutations were all addressed to Qin Feng: “So, all these love letters were meant for Qin Feng. Did she steal every single one of them?”
At the word “steal,” Wen Wen froze.
Steal.
Yes, it was indeed stealing.
Judging by Jiang Chi’s tone of disgust, what expression would she wear if she knew Wen Wen had once stolen her love letters too?
Unaware of Wen Wen’s unease, Jiang Chi continued opening envelopes, muttering to herself, “They really are all Qin Feng’s love letters. The killer even wrote comments at the end of each one.”
Suddenly, Jiang Chi tossed the letter aside in frustration. “I’m done. Sis, you shouldn’t read these either. There’s no useful clue here, just countless girls’ heartfelt feelings mercilessly cursed.”
Wen Wen agreed. Moreover, she was 80% certain she knew how Qin Feng had died. Setting the letters down, she stood up. “Let’s go. Time to leave.”
“Huh? Just like that? We don’t have any concrete clues about Qin Feng’s death. If we just guess, there are too many possibilities.”
Wen Wen: “If I’m not mistaken, I think I know.”
Jiang Chi: “So, how did she die?”
Wen Wen: “Let’s talk outside.”
Together, they restored the room to its original state. Then Wen Wen waved toward the camera, signaling to the production crew outside that they were ready to exit.
With a click, a door hidden within the graffiti-covered wall swung open.
Just then, a rustling sound came from the tunnel. Jiang Chi instinctively stepped in front of Wen Wen.
Wen Wen glanced at her and simply took her hand, leading her out.
Jiang Chi suddenly realized they were about to finish, and she trusted Wen Wen completely. They would never come back here.
As they reached the exit, a voice called out to Jiang Chi.
“Jiang Jiang.”
Ignoring it, Jiang Chi tightened her grip on Wen Wen’s hand and strode forward.
Outside, the sky was pitch black, but Happy Valley remained bustling. The cacophony of noise blended together, evoking the surreal sensation of emerging reborn from an apocalypse.
“Did you both figure it out?”
A voice sounded from behind. Jiang Chi hadn’t expected Su Jing to follow them out: “Aren’t you looking for clues?”
Su Jing shrugged confidently: “It makes no difference whether I look or not. I’ve already deduced the answer.”
[When questioning Jiang Chi and Wen Wen earlier, he used “guess,” but now it’s “deduction” for himself? Look at this show-off!]
[Exactly. Can’t stand pretentious men.]
[Waiting to see him get slapped in the face!]
Su Jing’s gaze fell on Wen Wen as he raised an eyebrow: “Teacher Wen, though you came out first, how about we play a game?”
“Letting you answer first?” Jiang Chi cut straight to the point. “You do realize we came out first, right? What makes you think you deserve to answer before us? Think you’re the smartest person in the world?”
Su Jing remained shameless: “The difference between us is that I’ve seen fewer clues than you.” He gestured to the door behind him. “If I’m not mistaken, the clues inside must be quite important, no?”
“Miss Wen, are you afraid? Too confident in me or not confident enough in yourself?”
“I can let you answer first.”
Jiang Chi grew anxious and called out: * “Sis!”
Wen Wen gave her hand a reassuring squeeze before addressing Su Jing: “If you agree to one condition, I’ll let you answer first.”
“I agree,” Su Jing replied without hesitation.
“Seems Mr. Su is very confident in his answer.” Wen Wen smirked. “My condition is: if you’re wrong, for the rest of today’s recording, every time you need to speak, you can only bark like a dog.”
“Of course, if you accidentally speak normally, you’ll have to slap yourself ten times.”
Su Jing’s expression faltered for a moment before he asked, “And if I win?”
Wen Wen shrugged lightly. “Then all the rewards are yours.”
Su Jing clarified: “I meant your punishment.”
“Why should I be punished? From the start, I only said this was my condition for letting you answer, not a bet.” Wen Wen paused slightly. “What’s wrong, Mr. Su? Starting to doubt yourself now? You can still back out if you want. There’s still time.”
Jiang Chi thought: Knowing Su Jing, he would never back down.
As expected, Su Jing said, “Who said anything about backing out? I accept your condition.”
Jiang Chi glanced at the flustered Bai Yuetong beside him and emphasized, “Of course, the punishment only applies to Teacher Su. Don’t worry, Yuetong.”
Hearing this, Wen Wen gave Bai Yuetong a look before releasing Jiang Chi’s hand and walking toward the production team.
Jiang Chi stared at her suddenly empty hand: ???
