Turns Out Seducing the Movie Queen Can Break the Plot - Chapter 41.1
Jiang Chi’s gaze burned into the young man standing before them, an inexplicable fury surging through her veins. Without thinking, the words tumbled out: “Hey kid! Am I invisible here or something? I’m standing right in front of you!”
Last time she’d watched the show where someone asked Wen Wen for her contact info, she’d…
Huh? what had she done then?
Gotten angry? But what right did she have?
Well!
Before she could rationalize her reaction, the startled boy finally responded with an awkward, honest smile: “Sorry miss? You’re very pretty too, but I prefer this sister’s type.”
What did he know about her to claim he liked her? Was affection really that superficial these days?
And he thought she was upset about not being hit on?
A glance at Wen Wen’s expression, the slight spark in her eyes gave Jiang Chi the perfect excuse.
Wen Wen clearly found this kind of approach annoying.
As her friend (even if Wen Wen hadn’t officially acknowledged it yet), wasn’t it her duty to shield her from unwanted advances?
Her body moved faster than her brain. Jiang Chi wrapped an arm around Wen Wen’s waist, pulling her close as she smirked at the stunned boy. “Kid, let me clarify, I wasn’t fishing for your number.”
“Rather.”
“We’re a couple. Got it?”
The boy’s jaw dropped before he suddenly bowed deeply. “My apologies for disturbing you!” He fled immediately.
[OMG!!! Did they just casually come out like that?!]
[Holy shit holy shit are we actually witnessing real life wlw?? No straight person would reject someone like this!]
[Jiang Chi’s jealousy completely fried her brain! This is LIVE STREAMING!!]
[Someone quick! Bring the marriage registration office before she realizes what she’s done!]
Hidden in the crowd, Bangs Girl and Glasses Girl usually the first to broadcast any gossip stood frozen for three full seconds. “Jingjing baby,” Bangs Girl whispered robotically, “are we actually shipping a real couple?”
Glasses Girl massaged her neck. “You okay? Your neck’s stiff.”
The contact sent tingles down Bangs Girl’s spine as she shook her head. “I’m fine! Just shocked! I swear, Jiang Jiang isn’t straight! All that history with Su Jing must’ve been because that scumbag manipulated her somehow!”
Glasses adjusted her frames, the lenses flashing. “If she’s not, what about you?”
Bangs Girl blinked. “Huh? Me what?”
“We?” Wen Wen arched an eyebrow at the woman beside her. “A couple?”
Jiang Chi’s eyes darted rapidly before she sprang back a full meter, hands raised. “Sis! I-I just thought you seemed bothered by the pickup attempt!”
“W-well, you know I’m not the brightest. In such a tense situation just now, my dumb brain could only come up with that lame excuse.”
Those dark, bright eyes blinked, looking utterly innocent.
“Did I look that impatient?”
“Yeah! The look in your eyes was like,” Jiang Chi dramatically drew a finger across her own neck, ” ready to chop him off! Super impatient!”
“Just now? Tense situation?” Wen Wen seemed thoughtful.
“Exactly!” Jiang Chi repeated the neck-slitting gesture, her expression exaggerated. “You were about to murder him! Isn’t that an emergency? The biggest emergency!”
“Though actually, I was just thinking about how to discreetly give him my contact info without the cameras noticing,” Wen Wen said with feigned seriousness.
“Huh?” Jiang Chi froze momentarily, a complicated feeling stirring in her chest. “Sis? Are you serious?”
Peach-blossom eyes stared intently at her face, as if searching for some hidden emotion. Wen Wen narrowed her eyes slightly: “Yes.” She gestured toward the cameras with visible regret. “Thanks to you, the whole country thinks we’re dating now. Probably no one will dare ask for my number anymore.”
“Then, I’ll clarify.” Dejected, Jiang Chi walked toward a camera, mustering her resolve to make an official statement. But before she could speak, a warm hand grasped her wrist, pulling her toward the amusement park entrance.
“No need to clarify. Our entire conversation just now was broadcasted anyway. Our top priority now is completing the mission.”
[With Wen Wen’s reaction. I think I’ve noticed something huge!]
[Sis in the front, are we thinking the same thing?]
[Right?! You also think Wen Wen’s been testing Jiang Chi’s attitude all along!?]
[Same here! And did you see her micro-expressions when Jiang Chi mentioned them being a couple? First shock, then contemplation, then barely suppressed happy smiles so telling!]
[I’ve always said Wen Wen likes Jiang Chi! Not Su Jing at all! All those “stealing glances at Su Jing” moments were actually her looking at Jiang Chi!]
[What about all those old videos “proving” Wen Wen liked Su Jing? That was ages ago! Has Wen Wen been harboring unrequited love all this time?]
Inside the amusement park, the two were searching for a suitable spot to sit and draw.
The park was bustling with noise and screams of excitement. Both wore wide-brimmed hats that covered their entire faces and kept a low profile, so the crowd, immersed in their own fun, didn’t notice them. Even when occasionally recognized by fans, they readily agreed to keep it secret when asked.
Jiang Chi took a sip of bubble tea, then suddenly turned to ask: “Sis, this morning when you watched the video. I was your heartthrob pick, right?”
Wen Wen stopped walking, studying her face intently: “What are you getting at?”
Jiang Chi took another sip, her gaze drifting away as she spoke in a small, aggrieved tone: “Well, when you reacted to your heartthrob this morning, I observed your expression. It kinda seemed like, you weren’t that into it.”
Especially her later expressions, they almost looked like disgust.
If this had been about Su Jing, she would’ve understood perfectly. But directed at herself? She couldn’t make sense of it.
She was curious about what her video actually looked like. If people liked it, that was fine but why did they have to dislike it too.
Her expression grew increasingly aggrieved.
Wen Wen leaned in closer to look at her and teased, “What? Are you upset because I didn’t get as flustered as you did, and my heart rate didn’t skyrocket to 200 beats per second like yours?”
“N-no, I’m not!” Jiang Chi leaned back, avoiding her gaze. “It’s you suddenly getting all flustered, then acting like you hated it again.”
Her eyes dropped, unsure where to look, her lips pouting as she mumbled in a pitiful tone, ” I don’t want you to dislike me, sis.”
Her wandering gaze eventually returned to Wen Wen’s eyes pleading yet brimming with sincerity.
The moment their eyes met, Wen Wen’s calm heartbeat suddenly raced like a wild horse. She took a subtle deep breath and straightened up. “Who told you I dislike you?”
Jiang Chi pressed, “Then why?”
Why? Wen Wen narrowed her eyes slightly. How could she explain? She loved how beautiful and alluring Jiang Chi looked in the video, but the thought of so many others having seen it made her uncontrollably irritable.
The fact that she hadn’t ordered the video to be taken down already was an act of extreme restraint under extreme rationality.
“Why.?” Wen Wen drawled, evading the question. “How did you feel just now when you helped me fend off admirers?”
Jiang Chi’s train of thought successfully derailed from the original topic, and she began earnestly pondering her earlier emotions only to come up empty. She answered honestly, “I don’t know.”
Wen Wen sighed silently. “Then think about it properly. When you figure out how you felt just now, you’ll understand how I felt at the time.”
Of course, given Jiang Chi’s way of thinking, Wen Wen wouldn’t be surprised if her eventual realization took a completely wrong turn. But no matter what, she’d guide her back on track.
Finally finding a suitable spot to sit and sketch, Jiang Chi tossed her empty milk tea into the trash. Suddenly, a discomfort in her lower abdomen made her grab Wen Wen, who was wiping the stone bench. “Sis, come with me to the restroom!”
Without waiting for a response, she pulled her by the arm and dashed toward the bathroom.
Once inside, Jiang Chi positioned Wen Wen in front of the stall at the far corner and instructed, “Sis, stand right here. Don’t leave, okay?”
Wen Wen chuckled. “Are you really a child?”
Jiang Chi clutched her stomach. “Promise me?”
Wen Wen relented. “Fine, go quickly. I’ll stay right here.”
Jiang Chi lunged forward and planted a quick, light kiss on her cheek. “Love you!”
Then she disappeared into the stall.
Wen Wen shook her head helplessly, leaning against the wall as she pulled out a sheet of paper and clipped it to her sketchpad. Without hesitation, she began drawing.
When Jiang Chi emerged from the restroom, she found Wen Wen completely absorbed in her drawing so focused that she didn’t even notice Jiang Chi approaching.
“Wow, you’re drawing me!”
The hand on the paper froze.
Jiang Chi leaned in closer. “Wow, it’s so lifelike.” She tilted her head, looking at Wen Wen with a bright grin. “Sis, the way you see me always leaves even the real me in awe. Why is that?”
“Last time it was a photo, this time a sketch. Can you explain it to me from an artist’s perspective this time?”
Her dark, sparkling eyes fluttered, as if capable of capturing every nuance of emotion.
Wen Wen avoided her gaze, straightened her head, and gathered her things. “Let’s go, we’ve already wasted a lot of time.”
“Hah!” Jiang Chi caught up with her. “Sis, I’ve noticed something, you always dodge my questions!”
And it seemed like every time, the questions were about relationships. Was it because the original motivation for learning to paint wasn’t her, making it hard to answer? Or was it because it involved Su Jing, so she didn’t want to answer.
“Oh?” Wen Wen didn’t stop walking. “Isn’t it more like no matter what I ask, you always say you don’t know?”
That was true, but she really didn’t know.
“But, sis, why did you want to paint me?”
Shouldn’t it have been Su Jing?
“You’re my CP. Who else would I paint?”
