Turns Out Seducing the Movie Queen Can Break the Plot - Chapter 28.1
It’s over, it’s really over!
While the director was droning on about the rules, Jiang Chi had been making all sorts of small gestures, trying to catch Wen Wen’s attention.
Without exception, all of them were ignored.
What should she do? Jiang Chi felt as if her mood had sunk to rock bottom, completely at a loss.
There was no way Wen Wen would pair up with her this time, right?
Would she even let Jiang Chi stand beside her anymore?
And judging by how things were going, even if Jiang Chi literally clung to Wen Wen, it wouldn’t make a difference.
What should she do? What on earth could she do?
There were no hints, no explanations. Had she awakened just to face her doom with full awareness?
But this was all her retribution. Those who did evil would eventually pay the price, who told her to bully Bai Yue Tong?
If the ending was truly unchangeable, then why had she awakened at all?
Whether she awakened or not, the one who would suffer in the end was still her, wasn’t it?
Just then, her trembling hand was suddenly enveloped by a warm one. Jiang Chi felt her hand being lifted, and then Wen Wen’s pleasant voice struck her eardrums: “For my CP, I choose Jiang Chi.”
The senses that had been shut out from the world were instantly summoned back. Jiang Chi, belatedly realizing what had happened, raised her head and only then noticed that Ji Mei, Jin Jin Yi, and even Bai Yue Tong had all gathered in front of Wen Wen at some point.
Hearing Wen Wen’s choice, Ji Mei’s resentment immediately flew toward Jiang Chi.
Meeting Ji Mei’s hateful glare, Jiang Chi fully snapped back to reality, suddenly understanding what must have happened during the time she’d been “blocked” by the world. She blinked in disbelief and turned her head to look at Wen Wen.
But Wen Wen didn’t look back at her, her expression as indifferent as ever.
As if the person who had just made that choice wasn’t her at all.
Director Xu: “Wen Wen, are you sure? You’re choosing Jiang Chi as your CP again this time?”
Without hesitation: “I’m sure.”
Only when Director Xu finalized the decision did the three people in front of them disperse. Ji Mei even shot Jiang Chi a covert glare as she left.
Jiang Chi didn’t notice any of that. All she knew was that Wen Wen had chosen her.
As their hands lowered, Jiang Chi sensed Wen Wen trying to pull away and immediately tightened her grip, refusing to let go.
Wen Wen struggled twice but couldn’t break free, so she stopped resisting.
The guest with the second-highest overall performance score was Su Jing. Ji Mei shot him a few meaningful glances, but he ignored her completely, choosing Bai Yue Tong without the slightest hesitation.
Last episode, he had teamed up with Ji Mei purely for their shared goal to win the mission, separate Jiang Chi and Wen Wen, and achieve their respective objectives. Since that shared goal had failed, there was no reason for him to continue partnering with Ji Mei.
Objectively speaking, Ji Mei was far more popular than Bai Yue Tong, and teaming up with her would generate more buzz. But Bai Yue Tong was about to receive the company’s full backing her rise to fame was only a matter of time.
And most importantly, Bai Yue Tong was someone he genuinely liked.
He smiled at Bai Yue Tong, who stood nearby, and she returned the gesture with a faint smile of her own.
That left Ji Mei and Jin Jin Yi to automatically form a CP pair.
Once all the guests had chosen their partners, Director Xu announced the prize money corresponding to each ranking from the previous mission.
Jiang Chi and Wen Wen, who won first place, received a prize of 400 yuan. Su Jing and Bai Yue Tong, who came in second, were awarded 200 yuan, while Jin Jin Yi and Bai Yue Tong, the third-place winners, got 100 yuan.
Director Xu announced, “The reorganized couples can distribute the prize money among themselves. If any of you wish to give more to your partner, you can decide that internally.”
“One important reminder: if any member of a couple fails to reach the designated location before dark, a corresponding portion of the funds your group has earned will be deducted. So, everyone needs to plan your ascent carefully.”
“Lastly, the ‘Heartbeat Summer’ mini-mart is now open for business. Feel free to shop!”
The Su Bai and Jin Ji groups gathered to exchange funds, while Jiang Chi and Wen Wen remained standing in place, unmoving.
One waited for the other to let go; the other waited to be led.
After a tense silence, Wen Wen was the first to break the stalemate.
She flexed her fingers, trying to loosen her grip, but Jiang Chi only held on tighter.
“Let go.”
“No.” Jiang Chi answered instantly.
“Let go.” This time, her voice was stern and cold.
Jiang Chi immediately released her hand, afraid of angering Wen Wen further.
Wen Wen took out the shared funds from the envelope and handed 200 yuan to Jiang Chi, who didn’t accept it.
She looked up at her in confusion.
Jiang Chi forced a smile. “You hold onto it, sister. We’ll use it together.”
Wen Wen replied, “It’s more convenient to split it.”
Jiang Chi insisted, “It’s just as convenient if you keep it. I’ll follow you wherever you go.”
Wen Wen didn’t argue further and walked toward the mini-mart set up by the production team, cash in hand.
True to her word, Jiang Chi trailed closely behind her like a little shadow.
The production team’s mini-mart was rather rudimentary just a large wooden board propped up on planks, displaying various hiking essentials and small props that could be used to “earn money,” such as drawing paper and rubber bands.
The exact prices of the items weren’t specified, but it was clear the production team had set them according to the guests’ available funds, ensuring they could at least purchase the most basic necessities.
Wen Wen first picked out essential hiking gear: a headlamp, two sun hats, a bottle of sunscreen, two sets of quick-dry clothing, two buffs, and a backpack to carry everything.
Watching her actions, Jiang Chi’s heavy heart finally lightened a little.
[It feels like Wen Wen is mad at Jiang Chi. If that’s the case, why not just not choose Jiang Chi as her partner? Wen, my dear, why put yourself through this? She even bought two sets of gear, considering Jiang’s needs, I’m crying, she’s too good.]
[What do you mean mad? She’s jealous!]
[Exactly! And Wen Wen’s behavior isn’t hard to understand. Isn’t there a saying? ‘We can fight, but that doesn’t mean I don’t love you.’ Wen Wen loves her so much!]
[Jiang-Wen forever! Get married on the spot x3 (screaming)!]
After selecting the basic hiking equipment, Wen Wen moved to the other side of the mini-mart to browse tools that could help them earn money.
Jiang Chi mustered her courage and leaned in to ask, “Sister, have you thought about how we’ll earn money?”
Wen Wen replied indifferently, “Still thinking.”
Getting a response, Jiang Chi was overjoyed. “Then I’ll think too! I’ll help us earn money!”
Despite her words, she simply continued following Wen Wen around, watching.
Wen Wen circled around the stall, mentally assessing the value of each item she saw, so engrossed in her thoughts that when she turned to walk back, she accidentally bumped into someone behind her.
Jiang Chi had also been deep in thought and was momentarily stunned by the collision. Instinctively, she reached out to steady the person in front of her by gripping their waist.
In that brief moment of contact, the distance between them closed abruptly. Their eyes met, breaths mingling rapidly—clearly an unexpected encounter that caught both off guard.
Just as Wen Wen was about to speak, Jiang Chi preempted her, exhaling in relief as she leaned against Wen Wen’s shoulder. “Jiejie, you scared me when you suddenly bumped into me. I don’t care, you have to take responsibility.”
The last words were spoken softly, accompanied by a slight nuzzle against her shoulder.
It was unmistakably an act of acting cute.
From the moment they steadied themselves, Wen Wen had been fighting the urge to laugh. Jiang Chi’s constant little movements made her resemble a puppy desperately trying to catch its owner’s attention.
Pressing her lips together to suppress a smile, Wen Wen was about to speak when Jiang Chi beat her to it again: “Jiejie, don’t be mad at me, okay? I was wrong. You can do whatever you want, just don’t ignore me, please? Jiejie.”
She nuzzled Wen Wen’s neck again, sending a ticklish sensation across her skin. Wen Wen tilted her head away slightly and lightly patted Jiang Chi’s waist. “Get up.”
Jiang Chi refused. “Forgive me first.”
Wen Wen glanced around. The sky was growing brighter, and more hikers were gathering at the mountain’s base, many already casting curious glances their way. She patted Jiang Chi’s waist again, a hint of amusement slipping into her voice. “With so many people around, aren’t you embarrassed? Acting like a child.”
Jiang Chi immediately picked up on the shift in Wen Wen’s tone. Having already checked their position earlier, she knew they were in a camera blind spot and shielded from the crowd’s view. Uninhibited, she turned her head and planted a kiss on Wen Wen’s neck, murmuring against her skin, “Jiejie, forgive me.”
A jolt of electricity seemed to spread from the kissed spot, racing through Wen Wen’s heart and limbs, leaving her fingertips tingling and trembling.
Swallowing hard, Wen Wen’s voice came out slightly hoarse despite her efforts. “Fine, I forgive you. Now get up.”
“Jiejie, do you really want me to let go?” Jiang Chi didn’t move immediately. Initially, she had only held Wen Wen’s waist, but now her fingers traced lightly over her skin, sliding toward the small of her back before encircling her completely with an arm. Tilting her head up, she gazed at Wen Wen from below. “But, Jiejie, you’re shaking.”
“Could it be, because you’re cold?”
Warm breaths fanned over Wen Wen’s neck, the tingling sensation threatening to overwhelm her senses. Clenching her fists at her sides, Wen Wen dug her nails into her palms to stay composed. “Get. Up.”
This time, Jiang Chi obediently released her and immediately switched topics with practiced ease. “Jiejie, have you figured out how to make money yet?”
“Mm.” Wen Wen took a step back, playing along. Earlier, she had noticed that not all hikers were dressed in standard mountaineering gear—many wore stylish outfits instead.
Moreover, this mountain isn’t particularly high in altitude, but the scenery is exceptionally beautiful, making it a 5A-level tourist attraction.
Clearly, most people come not just for hiking but more to check in and take beautiful, lasting photos at this location.
“What should we use?” Jiang Chi pressed.
Wen Wen tilted her head, her gaze landing on the camera held by the filming crew: “For taking tourist photos.”
She countered, “What about you?”
Jiang Chi surveyed the surroundings and instantly understood Wen Wen’s idea. She turned back, scanned the stall, picked up a pack of colorful disposable hair ties and another pack of plain black ones, along with some makeup touch-up items, and held them up to Wen Wen as if seeking praise: “I’ve got it figured out too!”
Wen Wen glanced at the items and immediately grasped her intention, unable to suppress a slight curl of her lips.
Suddenly realizing something, Jiang Chi frowned: “But sis, we don’t have enough money for a camera, do we? And,” her eyes swept over the stall again, “there aren’t any cameras here either.”
Wen Wen smiled: “What are we doing right now?”
It dawned on Jiang Chi instantly! A variety show crew would never be short of cameras!
And they’re guaranteed to be high-definition with excellent quality!
Jiang Chi exclaimed sincerely, “Sis, you’re so smart!”
“And how do you know how to do everything? You have a skateboarding instructor’s license! Even photography! Don’t tell me you have a photographer’s license too?”
Wen Wen nodded.
Jiang Chi froze for a second: “Did you learn it professionally or just as a hobby?”
“Learned it professionally,” Wen Wen replied nonchalantly as she packed the selected items. “For someone.”
For someone. It must have been for Su Jing.
What on earth does that bastard deserve!
For some reason, it’s so irritating.
Jiang Chi kicked a small pebble, which happened to hit Su Jing’s calf.
Su Jing turned around in confusion, spotting Jiang Chi glaring at him.
Tsk, women and their little tricks, full of contradictions and schemes.
Jiang Chi could tell exactly what he was thinking from his expression. This guy is truly hopeless.
Wen Wen glanced at her, then followed her gaze, her eyes darkening slightly as she carried the chosen items to Director Xu to pay.
Jiang Chi quickly snapped out of it and chased after her, calling, “Hey, sis, wait for me!”
As Director Xu tallied the items, Jiang Chi stood guiltily beside Wen Wen. It was strange even though Wen Wen always appeared composed, Jiang Chi could immediately sense any shift in her mood.
Director Xu counted the items: “That’ll be 320 yuan.”
