[Wow, live streaming! Finally, the production team is letting the audience join in!]
[Everyone says Wen Wen likes Su Jing, but after watching the first episode, I don’t see it at all!!! Wen Wen seems more like she’s into Jiang Chi.?]
[I think so too! Who’s spreading rumors that Wen Wen likes that air conditioner of a man!!!]
[Cooling CP Cooling CP Cooling CP!! Jiang Chi and Wen Wen, just get married already!]
[Ugh, waking up to such annoying people and comments first thing in the morning!]
[Are you people shipping Jiang Chi and Wen Wen even sane? What exactly do you see in them? Why don’t you just switch sides? Stop leeching off our Wen Wen like parasites, it’s disgusting! Get lost!]
The day before the official recording, the production team announced on their official account that part of this session would be broadcast live. Director Xu had initially worried that streaming too early would attract few viewers, but now, the screen froze and turned black from the overwhelming traffic.
“Hurry up and get the tech team to optimize this! What kind of professional production team has technical glitches like this?”
At the foot of the mountain at six in the morning, the temperature was in the single digits, yet the technicians broke out in a cold sweat at his words.
Off-camera, the guests remained in their cars. Director Xu had instructed them to wait for the crew’s signal before moving.
The car was warm with the heater on, and Jiang Chi sat in the passenger seat, drowsy and nodding off.
Wen Wen watched her head bob up and down, lips curling into a smile as she leaned closer and cupped Jiang Chi’s chin with her hand.
Jiang Chi lifted her bleary eyes, following the arm to see who it was. Squinting as if to confirm, she recognized Wen Wen and nuzzled into her palm, her voice husky from sleep. “Jiejie.”
Like a little puppy.
“Time to wake up. We’ll be starting the official recording soon.” Wen Wen scratched her chin lightly with a fingertip.
Ticklish, Jiang Chi giggled and dodged her hand, only to cling to her arm immediately after, rubbing her face against it. “Jiejie, I’m so sleepy~”
Wen Wen pinched her earlobe with her other hand. “Serves you right. Didn’t I tell you not to stay up with me last night?”
After receiving the production team’s notice about the six a.m. live stream, both had gone to bed early. The problem arose when Wen Wen got an urgent work call in the middle of the night, a project issue required her immediate attention.
The ringing woke Jiang Chi, who stubbornly insisted on staying up with her. Just like now, her head kept drooping, but her will was unshakable, no amount of persuasion could send her back to bed.
Even half-asleep, Wen Wen could see the faint reproach in those star-like eyes. “I just didn’t want you to be alone. You’re always working late by yourself just the dark, a desk lamp, and solitude. For some reason, it makes my heart ache.”
She nuzzled Wen Wen’s hand again, looking utterly pitiful.
Wen Wen’s little finger twitched. Her hand clenched and unclenched at her side before she finally gave in, tilting Jiang Chi’s chin up with a finger. Her thumb traced the softness of Jiang Chi’s lips, slow and deliberate. “I was just thinking… since this mouth is so good with words, maybe it deserves a little reward.”
Hearing this, the haze in Jiang Chi’s eyes instantly cleared, a flash of shock crossing her face before being replaced by anticipation so full it nearly overflowed.
Seeing no movement from the other, Jiang Chi puckered her lips and kissed the fingers resting on them, as if urging their owner to hurry.
Yet Wen Wen remained unhurried, tracing Jiang Chi’s lips with her fingers, her peach-blossom eyes fixed intently on the starry gaze looking up at her.
At this moment, those eyes which seemed to hold countless stars reflected only her image.
A sudden sharp pain on her fingertip snapped Wen Wen out of her reverie. She looked down to see Jiang Chi gnawing at her finger like a puppy, displeasure written all over her face.
Wen Wen tried to pull her hand away, but rosy lips suddenly closed around her finger, and the next second, she felt a warm, soft tongue sweep across the tip.
A tingling current shot from her fingertip, instantly coursing through her entire body. Wen Wen felt her limbs go weak, her hand losing the strength to stay raised. Just as she was about to slump, a hand swiftly caught her arm, holding it steady while drawing her finger deeper into that warm mouth.
“Jiejie, were you always this sensitive?”
Wen Wen let out a low, breathy gasp, her voice hoarse. “Let go.”
No sooner had she spoken than she felt a slight sting at the base of her finger, Jiang Chi had bitten her!
Only then did Jiang Chi release her hand, lifting it up and waving it playfully in front of Wen Wen. A faint ring of teeth marks encircled the base of her finger, like an impromptu ring.
The culprit grinned mischievously. “Thanks for the reward, jiejie~ I’m wide awake now.”
Wen Wen: “…”
Just then, someone knocked on the car window from outside, a voice calling in, “Jiang-laoshi, it’s time for you to enter.”
Jiang Chi pulled out a tissue to wipe Wen Wen’s hand before tossing it into the trash bin. Only then did she open the car door and ask, “Am I going in alone first?”
The staff member nodded.
Jiang Chi glanced back at Wen Wen. “Can’t jiejie come with me?”
The staff quickly checked with Director Xu, but the answer remained no for a perfectly valid reason: the CP pairings for this episode hadn’t been finalized yet, so it wouldn’t be appropriate for them to appear together.
Jiang Chi wanted to argue, but the staff cut in first, “Jiang-laoshi, please.”
After a brief internal struggle, Jiang Chi resigned herself and turned back, bending down to look at the woman in the driver’s seat, her tone inexplicably pitiful. “Jiejie, promise you’ll come soon, okay?”
Wen Wen rubbed the teeth marks on her finger, lips quirking slightly. “Okay.”
Jiang Chi blew her a kiss before heading in the direction the staff indicated. As she walked along the path, her fingers unconsciously twisted together at her sides.
A streak of golden light broke through the azure sky, spilling onto the scenic forest path. Had Jiang Chi looked up, she would have seen a breathtaking view.
But she had no mind to observe or appreciate it.
Over and over in her heart, she silently prayed that the plot wouldn’t control her.
Against her wishes, the moment she spotted the guests’ gathering spot, Jiang Chi distinctly felt that domineering force creeping over her like vines, gradually stripping away her freedom of movement.
Compelled to march straight to Su Jing, she rubbed her arms and gazed up at him pitifully. “Su Jing-gege, it’s so cold. I should’ve brought a jacket.”
The hint in her words couldn’t have been more obvious.
Jiang Chi inwardly wailed: Sister, come save me now!!!
To outsiders, Su Jing was always the epitome of a gentleman. No matter who spoke to him in such a pitiful tone, he would never ignore them.
Su Jing took off his own coat and personally draped it over Jiang Chi. Leaning close to her ear, he whispered in a voice only the two of them could hear: “Jiang Chi, your little games haven’t changed a bit. But since you’re bowing your head now, I’ll reluctantly forgive you. Who made you so adorable?”
“Now that’s more like it.”
Jiang Chi could only curse her current inability to even clench her fists otherwise she’d have gladly added some “rouge” to Su Jing’s cheeks.
Forced to act shy, she pulled Su Jing’s coat tighter around herself: “Thank you, Brother Su Jing. Won’t you be cold without your coat?”
“No need for thanks.” Su Jing smiled warmly. “It’s fine, I can handle the cold.”
Jiang Chi thought: I hope you freeze to death!
While mentally cursing, her body moved against her will, stepping toward the spot beside him. Suddenly, Ji Mei’s saccharine voice reserved exclusively for Wen Wen rang out from behind: “Sister Wen!”
Jiang Chi’s body instantly stiffened at the sound, yet she remained powerless to stop herself from standing next to Su Jing.
Turning around, her eyes met Wen Wen’s gaze, a complex mix of emotions layered beneath an impassive surface, making it impossible to discern what Wen Wen was truly thinking.
Jiang Chi glanced at the distance between them. This glance turned her already pale complexion ghostly white, as if she were terminally ill and awaiting death.
They were definitely less than 1.9 meters apart, yet the plot’s control over her hadn’t lifted!
Realizing this truth felt like being struck by lightning shattering her to the core.
The distance required to break free from the plot’s control was shrinking.
How could this be?
This trend was nothing less than a warning: unless she found a way to completely escape the plot’s control, death was inevitable…
Jiang Chi felt waves of coldness spreading through her body not just in her limbs, but chilling her from the inside out.
Wen Wen had been intercepted by Ji Mei, who rubbed her arms while eyeing the garment draped over Wen Wen’s arm. Without hesitation, she voiced her thoughts: “Sister Wen, I’m so cold. Could I borrow that coat?”
No, sister, don’t give it to her! Jiang Chi remained expressionless but pleaded helplessly in her heart. She knew that coat was meant for her, it was hers, and shouldn’t go to anyone else.
Besides, she was cold too. So very cold.
Wen Wen’s gaze slid from Jiang Chi to the coat on her arm, then back to Jiang Chi. Her words, however, were directed at Ji Mei: “Aren’t you already wearing one?”
This was clearly a pointless question.
Ji Mei: “I’m really sensitive to cold. I thought one coat would be enough, but it’s not. I’m still freezing.”
She looked at Wen Wen with hopeful, vulnerable eyes.
Yet Wen Wen’s attention remained fixed on Jiang Chi, as if waiting for some reaction.
But unfortunately, there was none.
Jiang Chi didn’t even glance at her. Those eyes that had been gazing at her with starlight moments ago were now fixed on someone else. Su Jing noticed her gaze and deliberately leaned in to whisper something in Jiang Chi’s ear.
Upon hearing the whisper, Jiang Chi shyly tightened the coat around her shoulders and, likewise, rose slightly on her toes to murmur something back into Su Jing’s ear.
Then, Su Jing shot Wen Wen a triumphant look.
Beneath the coat, fists clenched.
What Wen Wen couldn’t possibly know was how desperately Jiang Chi wished she would walk over and drape the coat over her shoulders herself.
Don’t give her the coat, jiejie.
Time seemed to stretch endlessly, though the sunset glow remained unchanged.
Wen Wen stayed silent for a few seconds before lowering her gaze. “Sorry, I can’t give you this coat. It belongs to someone.”
Her puppy could afford to be a little willful.
Wen Wen took a step forward.
But she wouldn’t let go.
She moved toward Jiang Chi’s position.
One and a half meters!
